The next morning I still felt off, but I had to force myself to get through the day and then the party. Then I would have the whole weekend to rest. Cody had a game out of town on Saturday, and he didn't mind if I missed those. I made sure I was up early to shower and dress. I chose one of the skirts that Cody loved but my father hated. It just barely met the school dress code. It was a light pink, so I paired it with a white sleeveless top that showed the tiniest bit of belly skin and again pushed the dress code. I left my hair down and applied the slightest bit of makeup. Then I pulled on a pair of knee-high boots to tie the outfit together. I tucked an extra pair of clothes in my bag just in case. But this outfit would work for school and would easily carry over to the party if needed. I waited for my parents to leave, dashed downstairs, grabbed their note about working late again, and headed outside to wait for Cody. I was happy to see the bruises on my leg hadn't been as bad
