Chapter 05

Mariano came back from his sister's house wearing a worried expression as he came across his friend Jake, a married man who's against the law of monarchs.

"What's with you? Did something happen between you and your sister?" Jake asked as he put the the firewood logs on the vacant table.

He shook his head and let out a deep sigh as he remembers the appearance of the child they just brought.

He didn't want to believe it but there's no way a normal human would have such peculiar eyes. Not even the wizards have the unique magical eyes.

"Nothing happened, it's just....nothing, don't worry about it."

He was reluctant to tell his friend about the child especially when his sister spoke about 'not telling anyone about it'.

Jake looks confused staring at the back of Mariano's body walking back inside his house. He knows Mariano, when something is not right, Mariano would make a worried face especially when it's bound to keep as a secret.

At the same time inside Jeneva's house, Finesia was staring at the bowl of a porridge given by Jeneva herself. The porridge smells good yet she was doubtful that something bad is put inside the cooked porridge.

"Don't worry child, I don't have the money to buy any poison that could kill you so be at ease."

Jeneva wasn't sure but somehow, the child looks bothered by the simple porridge. She's not confident with herself when cooking but it's better than offering a boiled potatoes in the middle of sorrow.

Finesia starts to lift the wooden spoon and gently opened her mouth, filling her inside a spoon of porridge.

She starts eating peacefully without giving a word of how it taste, but the eyes of the child were about to cry. It looks sad, and yearning for someone.

She offered a cup of water and left to make a space for Finesia to cry her pain.

She was like that too, when her child died on her arms as she begged to eat a boiled potatoes. That rainy cold night when no one comes to save her child, she begged for help but no one came.

Mariano was asking for help to their village captain but instead of a medicine, the captain thrown out a bag of rice and a bag of meat.

It was like the captain is telling him to celebrate the death of her nephew.

They hated it but there was nothing they can do. When Mariano came back to his sister's house, his nephew was already a cold-dead body.

That was the most painful day she cannot forget and it was the first time she asked for the God's name to save her child, but instead of saving her child, the God's own daughter was given to her to protect.

Finesia finished her bowl of porridge and drank the cup of water. She can't believe that a human would make her stomach satisfy.

She shouldn't give her trust to them, not even Jeneva. She's only using them to move freely on the mortal's den.

"You've finished your porridge?" Jeneva asked.

She turned her head on Jeneva's direction who was walking back to the sink carrying her bowl and the cup.

"It's already midnight, you should sleep." Jeneva poured the bucket of water from the tub on the sink to wash the dishes.

"Aren't you curious about me?" Finesia asked. She, as well, should be trusted to them.

"Why would I be curious?" Jeneva stops from wiping the bowl and turn around. "Is it because of your eyes?"

Finesia clenched her fists, she's still not confident to let the human see her eyes, visibly.

"Child, I believe that your suffering is eating you up but trust me...you will think of it as a lesson and learn from it when the day comes." She continued wiping the bowl.

Finesia stares at the human's back, thinking that the human was the same as her. The human lost her child while she, lost her sisters.

"I am Finesia." Jeneva let out a smile as she heard the child's introduction. Her name didn't disappoint her as it was a name means 'Daughter of Creator'.

She finished washing the dishes and accompanied Finesia inside her small bedroom. She closed the wooden window and prepared the bed for Finesia to comfortably sleep.

The bed isn't big but the two of them were able to sleep without any problem.

When morning came, Finesia woke up without Jeneva on her side. She fell asleep without watching the human beside her, she just felt that something bad will never happen.

She found a small mirror and studied her appearance as her eyes glitters with amusement, she was that small yet a face of a gorgeous woman with a sparkling golden hair whizzed.

"You're up? I was expecting that I would wake you up. Come, let's eat." Jeneva's head was clinging on the door, looking at her with a smile on her lips.

She nodded and followed Jeneva to the dining table. She sat down and Jeneva poured a cup of rice on her plate and put the mushroom soup on the center of the table.

"Tell me if it's not your liking," said by Jeneva and stares at her when she starts eating the spoon of mushroom soup.

It was good and has a unique taste, it was her first time to eat the kind of dish—mushroom soup she meant.

She let out a soft smile making Jeneva grinned from ear to ear and poured more mushroom soup on her plate.

She was happy that the child likes her dish. She woke up early as the chicken's sound to collect the portabella mushrooms. It wasn't that hard to find but it's hard to cook especially when you still need to boil it to avoid infection.

"Let's talk about your goal, you have the decision inside your head when you jumped out from that tree right? I'll help you," Jeneva said making Finesia stopped from eating.

She urged to resist from trusting the human but as their eyes met, Her vision told her that the human is seeing her as her own child.

She can't believe it, why would a human think like that? Why would someone like her, a sinner, would make a human happy?

She bit her lower lip and gripped the wooden spoon. "I need to find someone." She can't resist anymore, it won't be bad if she trust one more person.

"Someone? Do you know someone before arriving here?" Jeneva asked.

She nodded.

"His name is Leonardo, I met him accidentally."

Jeneva weren't able to move from her sit when she heard the name uttered from Finesia's mouth.

"I...I don't know if he's alive or not, but if ever there's a chance of him, surviving from the monster I'd like to find him." She was unsure of course, who would survive such monster? Even her sisters who possessed a magical power didn't survived.

Jeneva drank the cup of water before swallowing hard. "I didn't heard it wrong...his name is Leonardo right?" Jeneva asked again to confirm.

Finesia nodded as her eyes were sparkling with memories of that one person. She felt like something is wrong, but seeing how sure the child is with her words, she wouldn't bother thinking a chance of making a bad move.

"Child, there's only one person who have that name." Jeneva tried to look normal but she starts trembling that made Finesia confused.

"Who?" she asked.

"The Emperor of Corceigea Empire, Leonardo Kartan Crossus."
