Determined to catch a glimpse of Logan, I decided, "I'll go say hi to Logan," my heart filled with eagerness and anticipation. I climbed the stairs two steps at a time, the familiar thrill of our encounters urging me forward. I believed that a brief conversation with Logan would provide the reassurance I desperately sought. I reached Logan's door, my hand poised to knock, but something I witnessed through the slightly ajar door left me stunned and heartbroken.

Inside, I found Logan engaged in a conversation with Chloe, his best friend from work who had always seemed to act more like a girlfriend. Their proximity, both physically and emotionally, was unsettling. Her laughter and the ease with which they interacted pierced my heart like a dagger.

"Hey Kiddo, when did you get he-." Logan began, but before he could finish his sentence, the frustration and sadness overwhelmed me. I couldn't bear to hear more. I slammed the door shut, concealing my presence, and fled down the stairs, my emotions in turmoil.

Aunt Amelia, with her always-perceptive nature, could tell something was amiss as she observed my troubled expression. She offered her unwavering support and a comforting presence. "Hey, dear, I was going to tell you that Chloe was here," she explained, acknowledging my deep-seated dislike for Chloe. "You alright, sweetie?" she inquired, her maternal concern evident in her gentle pat on my head.

I took a deep breath before responding, I mustered a weak smile and replied, "I'm alright, Aunt Amelia. But I don't think I can stay for lunch today. My mom just texted me to come home, so I've got to go." The words came out abruptly, a sense of urgency in my voice. "Please, let Mia know that I had to leave."

"But..." Aunt Amelia began to ask, but I didn't give her a chance to finish her question. I swiftly gathered my bag, noticing that Mia was absent, probably in her room. Deciding not to disturb her with the details of my abrupt departure, I stepped outside, a sudden need to escape overtaking me.

To my surprise, Logan, who had been in the middle of a conversation with Chloe, followed me out. "kiddo, wait up," he called out as he approached me.

"Why are you hurrying off?" Logan asked as he caught up to me, his voice tinged with concern. His voice held a note of frustration as he reached out to grab my arm, trying to prevent me from leaving.

"It's nothing, Logan," I replied, my voice betraying the emotions I was trying to hide.

"Then why are you in such a rush to leave?" Logan probed, his irritation surfacing.

"Something came up at home, Logan. My mom needs me back," I said

"Don't keep things from me, kiddo. Is it because of Chloe? I'm aware you don't like her."he said, his tone filled with genuine concern.

"It's not," I said firmly, gently trying to free my hand from his grasp, but he wasn't willing to let go.

"Chloe is just a friend, Blaire. Why do you harbor so much animosity toward her? Why does her presence bother you so deeply? What did she do to deserve this from you?" Logan asked, his tone a mix of confusion and concern.

Now, anger was welling up inside me, and I couldn't contain it any longer.

"You want to understand why I can't stand her? Fine," I said with an exasperated sigh, frustration and emotion evident in my voice. I paused for a moment to collect my thoughts, my frustration building with every word. "It's because she's so clingy, always throwing herself at you, Logan. And it's painful to watch you let her do it."

Logan's eyes widened, and he responded, "Is that what you've been thinking all this time, kiddo?" Logan asked, his voice a mix of surprise and amusement. "She's just my friend, kiddo. There's nothing romantic going on between us. And by the way, she's a really good person. You need to grow up."

Logan's words stung, and I felt the frustration welling up within me. "Logan, I don't need you to tell me how to feel," I retorted, my voice edged with anger. "Just because you're oblivious to the way she looks at you doesn't mean there's nothing going on. Don't pretend you know everything, especially about feelings."

He sighed, his own patience wearing thin. "kiddo, you're just making things up in your head. You've always been imaginative."

My cheeks flushed with indignation, and I clenched my fists. "Imaginative?

"Forget it," I said, my voice quivering with a mixture of anger and heartbreak. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I didn't want Logan to see me cry. "You'll never understand."

Logan's voice softened, tinged with regret. "Blaire, wait, I didn't mean..."

Without waiting to hear the remainder of his sentence, I swiftly freed my hand from his grasp. My steps were determined as I turned away, unable to bear the pain that coursed through me. The thought of being near Logan any longer was unbearable, and I needed to escape the turmoil in my heart.

I returned home, my footsteps heavy with the weight of my emotions. Seeking solace, I headed straight to my room. Once inside, I allowed the walls of my room to bear witness to the turbulent emotions that had been building within me.

In the seclusion of my room, the floodgates of my emotions burst open. The tears flowed freely, and sobs wracked my body. My mother's absence, her timing unintentionally impeccable, left me to grapple with this whirlwind of emotions in solitude. The echoes of Logan's words reverberated in my mind, gnawing at my heart. 'Why can't he perceive me as a woman? Why can't he feel love for me?' The questions persisted, like relentless tormentors.

Hours passed, as I lay on my bed, crying and lost in thought. I was drawn into a restless sleep, unable to escape the tangled web of emotions that ensnared me.

Later, I was roused from my slumber by the persistent buzzing of my phone. When I glanced at the screen, I discovered over ten missed calls from Mia. I felt overwhelmed, throwing my phone onto the bed, too fatigued and emotionally drained to face the world at that moment.

I decided to treat myself to a long, soothing shower. The hot water cascaded down my body, washing away the exhaustion and stress. I stood there, lost in my thoughts, as the steam enveloped me, providing a comforting escape from reality.

As I descended the stairs, the aroma of dinner filled the air, and I discovered my mother busy in the kitchen, working on her culinary masterpiece. I made a conscious effort to mask my emotions, not wanting her to pick up on the inner turmoil I was grappling with.

"Hey, sweetheart," my mother greeted me warmly, her eyes briefly flicking my way. "How was your day?"

I put on a reassuring smile, determined to keep my worries to myself. "It was okay, Mom, just a bit exhausting. Anything I can help you with?"

My mother chuckled, her hands moving deftly as she continued cooking. "Not today, dear, I've got everything under control. Just go relax and unwind."

I nodded and headed for the living room, feeling the weight of the emotional storm within me.

As we sat down for dinner, the soft glow of the dining room's warm lights cast a cozy ambiance. The clinking of utensils against plates provided a comforting backdrop to our conversation. Dad and I started discussing various topics, from our day's experiences to the latest news.

Dad began, "So, how was school today, sweetheart?"

I toyed with my food, my thoughts wandering. "Well, Dad, it was quite a day. A lot happened."

His eyes reflected a genuine curiosity as he set down his fork. "Tell me about it. You know I'm always here to listen."

I took a deep breath and began recounting the day's events, starting with the surprising appearance of Mr. Han and the unexpected test. Our conversation flowed naturally as I shared my experiences and feelings, and Dad offered advice and understanding along the way.

After dinner, I retreated to the solace of my room, where my phone lay waiting. I picked it up and glanced at the lock screen, noticing several texts and missed calls from Mia. The worry in her messages was evident. Finally, I gathered the emotional strength to call her, my heart heavy with the events of the day.

Mia picked up almost immediately, her voice a mix of concern and relief. "Blaire, where have you been? I was so worried!"

I attempted to sound as composed as possible, despite the turmoil that raged within me. "Sorry, Mia, I needed some time alone. It's been a tough day."

Mia's tone softened, and she offered understanding. "I get it, but you know you can always talk to me. What happened?"

"Mom mentioned your argument with Logan. Is it because of Chloe?" Mia's voice carried an understanding tone as she brought up the sensitive topic. She was perceptive and knew how to get to the heart of the matter. Her inquiry hit me like a ton of bricks, highlighting how nothing could escape her perceptive nature. She was sharp and intuitive, no doubt a result of Aunt Amelia sharing the details of our confrontation.

I took a deep breath and replied honestly, "Yes, it's about Chloe and... some other stuff, Mia."

Mia's voice softened, understanding the depth of my emotions. "Blaire, you know I care about you and Logan equally. You're like family to me. But maybe it's time to talk things out with him."

I appreciated her support and concern, but my doubts and fears still lingered. "I don't know, Mia. It's all so complicated. I'll think about it."

Mia's tone was resolute. "Just remember, we're here for you, no matter what."

With her unwavering support, I felt a little less burdened by the weight of the situation.

Mia's attempt to divert my attention from the Logan situation was a relief. She wanted to talk about her boyfriend, Sean's upcoming birthday, a topic far removed from the emotional turmoil I had been dealing with.

"With Sean's birthday just around the corner, you'll be there, won't you?" Mia asked, her eyes bright with anticipation.

I leaned into our conversation, grateful for the opportunity to focus on something less emotionally taxing. "I haven't decided yet," I admitted, hoping that Mia wouldn't press me for further details.

Mia grinned, clearly excited about the change in topic. "That's okay. I've got a few ideas for his birthday. Maybe we can brainstorm some gift options together."

As we delved into discussing potential gifts for Sean, the tension from earlier began to fade, at least temporarily. Mia's unwavering friendship and her ability to lighten the mood was a true blessing, and I cherished her even more for it. It was a welcome break from the heavy emotional weight I had been carrying, and I couldn't help but appreciate her friendship all the more in that moment.

As I talked to Mia about Sean's birthday, I couldn't deny the exhaustion creeping in. I wanted to put an end to our conversation. "I feel tired, so I'm off to bed," I announced, my voice betraying the emotional fatigue. "I'll see you tomorrow at school."

Mia understood and sympathized. "Sure thing, Blaire. Get a good night's rest, and we'll catch up tomorrow." Her voice held a comforting tone.

With a sigh, I hung up the phone, feeling the weight of the day's events press down on me. I climbed into bed, seeking refuge from the painful thoughts that haunted my mind. As I closed my eyes, I hoped for a night of undisturbed sleep that would help me recharge for the challenges of the next day.

The next morning, as I was going about my usual morning routine, the doorbell suddenly rang. It was an unexpected moment, as I had no idea who could be standing on the other side of the door.

"Kiddo, it's me," Logan's voice echoed through the room, his presence revealed as he casually grabbed the stick, the one I had wielded moments ago in a burst of self-defense."Logan?" I stammered, flabbergasted by the sudden revelation. The tension in the room deflated, replaced by a mix of confusion and relief. "I thought I was in the middle of a suspense thriller, waiting for a psycho serial killer to jump out and catch me off guard." I admitted, a nervous laugh escaping as I tried to process the unexpected turn of events.Logan, now visible in the dim light, chuckled. "No psychos here, just me," he quipped, a mischievous glint in his eyes.A wave of embarrassment washed over me as I realized the absurdity of my self-defense stance against a familiar face.
