CHAPTER TWO

Sophia’s POV

Before I could even take a step back, he was already in front of me.

His hand landed against the wall beside my head, not touching me, but he was  close enough to trap me completely, leaving only a narrow space between us that made it hard to breathe properly.

My heart jumped immediately, as though it had been waiting for this moment to betray me.

Five years and yet the first thing I was met with was this.

“You,” his voice came low, sharp, carrying something between anger and disbelief. “You think you can walk in here after five years and stand in front of me like nothing happened?”

I swallowed hard, forcing air into lungs that suddenly felt too tight. “I searched everywhere for you,” he continued, his eyes locked on mine without blinking. “Every place I could think of. And then you just appear here, standing in front of me like I was the one who disappeared, like I was the one who left without an explanation.”

I tried to move away again, but there was no space left for me to  escape.

My palm pressed lightly against his chest, more out of instinct than strength, trying to create even a small distance between us.

“And what exactly do you want from me?” I asked, though my voice betrayed me slightly.

He tightened his .., and for a moment it looked like he was holding back more than just anger.

“What do I want?” he repeated coldly. “Do you hear yourself right now? You vanished for five years, and now you are standing here asking me what I want.”

My chest started  rising and fell faster, fear and anger twisting together in a way I could not even separate anymore.

“Of course,” I said quietly, forcing myself to meet his eyes properly. “Of course I am the one you choose to blame. That is always easier, isn’t it?”

His expression got  shifted, something in his face faltering for a brief second as if my words had struck somewhere unexpected.

“You think this is about blame?” he asked, voice lower now, more controlled but sharper in a different way. “You disappear without a word, and I am supposed to feel nothing?”

I laughed once, but there was no sound of amusement in it.

“You are acting like I had a choice,” I said, my voice breaking slightly despite my effort to keep it steady.

That sentence seemed to catch him off guard.

For the first time, he  narrowed his eyes  slightly, as if he was trying to read something deeper in my face, something he could not immediately understand.

Before he could respond, the door behind him opened suddenly.

A small voice cut through our conversation.

“Daddy!”

We had to stop our conversation and before I knew it my entire body went cold.

Ethan turned sharply, his expression shifting instantly from anger to shock.

A little boy ran into the office without hesitation, as if he had done it many times before.

He stopped only when he reached Ethan and wrapped his arms tightly around his leg.

“I was looking for you,” the child said brightly, looking up at him with complete trust.

Ethan froze, then slowly, he bent down, his hands hovering for a second before resting lightly on the child’s shoulders.

“Willy,” he said under his breath, almost as if he was testing the name. “What are you doing here?”

The name hit me before I even understood why.

Willy? The  company name?  Willy Company?

My breath caught sharply as my eyes moved between them. The child looked completely at ease, like he belonged there more than anyone else in the room.

And Ethan… Ethan was looking at him differently now, not with confusion anymore but  with something deeper, something  protective, something  that made my chest tighten painfully.

No…

The thought formed before I could stop it, it  could not be, I took a slow step back, my hand slipping away from the wall as my strength finally gave out.

“No…” I whispered, though I did not even realize I had spoken.

Ethan looked up at me again, still holding the child gently, as if afraid he might disappear if he let go but  I could not stay there anymore, nor  with what I had just seen. Not with what I was starting to understand, I don't need to explain to him, I don't need to tell him anything, I don't need to.

I turned abruptly and walked out of the office, my steps unsteady, my heart pounding so loudly it drowned everything else out.

And I did not look back.

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-EIGHTEthan's POVThe hospital corridor was quiet when I arrived with Sophia, but the silence did nothing to calm me because Victor was lying behind one of those doors, injured because someone had tried to stop him from telling me the truth, and the more I thought about what had happened, the more certain I became that we were finally getting close to the person who had been controlling everything from the beginning.Breed was standing outside the treatment room when we arrived."How is he?" I asked."He is stable," Breed replied. "The bullet went through his shoulder, and the doctors are treating him now."I released a breath I did not realize I had been holding."Will he be okay?""They said he should recover."Sophia moved closer to me."Thank God."I nodded, but my mind remained on Victor's words. The child everyone believed had died was still alive. That single truth had changed everything.Daniel was sitting a few chairs away, his hands clasped tog

CHAPTER 137Ethan's POVI could not get the man's final words out of my head as we left the house because every explanation we had found seemed to lead us back to the same people, the same night, and the same secrets that had been buried for years.Ask Victor, that was what he had said and I was done waiting."We are finding Victor tonight," I said as I walked into the study.Breed followed me. "Ethan, we need to be careful.""I have been careful for too long."Sophia came behind us, still holding the diary. "We don't know if Victor is the enemy.""I know.""Then why are you so sure we should go after him?""Because someone who has Willy knows exactly what happened, and he keeps sending us toward Victor."Daniel, who had been standing quietly near the window, finally spoke."You should not go."I turned toward him."Why?""Because Victor is not the person you think he is."My eyes narrowed."What does that mean?"Daniel looked uncomfortable."It means you should hear him out before you

  • Hiding The Twins From My Billionaire Ex Husband   Chapter 136

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SIXSophia's POVI remained in Ethan's mother's room long after Ethan had gone downstairs with Breed because I could not stop thinking about the diary, especially the missing pages and the strange way they had been removed, because there was something about the torn edges that made me believe someone had deliberately taken them rather than simply tearing them out in anger or carelessness.I placed the diary on the table and slowly turned through the pages again, looking for anything I might have missed. Most of the entries were about Ethan's childhood, his father's work, and the difficult years their family had experienced, but whenever his mother mentioned the man we were searching for, she never wrote his name, and instead she used the same strange name she had used throughout the diary. The Wolf.I reached the last complete entry and ran my fingers over the torn section.Something felt different.I turned the diary over and examined the back cover.Th

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FIVEEthan's POVI could not stop staring at the photograph even after everyone had left the room, because the image of my mother standing beside my father and the mysterious man had created a question in my mind that I could no longer ignore, and the more I looked at it, the more I felt as though the life I had known was slowly becoming a story someone else had written for me."My mother knew him," I said quietly.Daniel stood near the door."Yes."I turned toward him."Then why did you hide this from me?"Daniel looked down."Because your mother asked me to.""She asked you to hide a man who was connected to my father's accident?""She was trying to protect you."I laughed bitterly."Everyone keeps saying they were protecting me, yet I am the one suffering now."Sophia stepped closer and gently touched my arm."Ethan, we need to find out what happened before we decide what your mother did."I looked at her."I don't even know who my mother was anymore.

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FOURSophia's POVThe search continued through the night because Ethan refused to allow anyone to rest while Willy was still missing, and even though the house had become quiet again, there was nothing peaceful about the silence because every person inside the building was waiting for the next piece of information that could finally lead us to our son.I remained in the living room with Lexa and Alex because Ethan had insisted that the children should stay away from everything happening in the study, but keeping my mind away from Willy was impossible when every sound reminded me that he was somewhere else, surrounded by people whose intentions we could not understand.Lexa had fallen asleep on the sofa with her head resting against my thigh, while Alex sat beside her, staring at the floor with his arms folded across his chest. He had not said much since Willy disappeared. That frightened me more than his crying would have.Alex had always been the kind o

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-THREESophia's POVThe moment Daniel finished speaking, I felt a strange heaviness settle over the room because his words had made me realize that the danger surrounding our family was no longer something we could keep treating as a problem from the past, especially when someone had already found a way into our home, taken Willy, and watched us search for answers without us realizing that they were always several steps ahead.Ethan remained standing beside the desk, staring at Daniel with an expression I could not easily understand because there was anger in his eyes, but beneath that anger there was also something deeper that looked almost like fear, and I knew that he was thinking about the same thing that had been running through my mind since Daniel told us that the people behind everything already knew we had found the photograph. They knew. They had been watching us.They knew we were searching. They knew about the study. They knew about the photog
