(Trigger Warning: Abuse)

I gasped as I woke up, I shot up from the bed in shock. I started coughing furiously before looking around the unfamiliar room until my eyes landed on a blurry figure in the room on a chair. I looked around me in search of my glasses, I picked them up from the nightstand beside me, put them on quickly and looked at the figure.

It was a guy. He had tattoos and he just looked really serious and mean but he watched me with concern and calmness in his eyes.

Was he one of the people who attacked me or the one who saved me?

He hands me a cup of water. I dipped my finger watching its reaction on my finger making sure there wasn't anything in it before sipping it.

Then my mind slipped and I dropped my cup.

"My mom," I said quickly, frantically looking around as I peeled back the bed sheets.

I looked down at my body. I was still in the skirt, I was just wearing the guy's shirt.

"Oh my gosh," I say as I rise from the bed, fatigue hitting me hard as well as the pain in my legs

"Hey, hey," he helped me sit down as I almost fell

He's the one who saved me then?

I broke into tears, realizing the situation ahead, "She's going to kill me," I cried to myself

"It's okay, I can take you home now," he says, pulling his keys out of his pocket, "I had someone take care of your cuts everywhere,"

"Thank you, really." I thanked him sincerely as he bent down to pick me up, "What's your name?" I ask him

"Chase," he tells me softly

I nod as he helps me grab my bag from beside the bed. I pulled on the front of the collar of the shirt I was wearing to look at my shirt.

It was torn in so many places, "Aww, this was my favourite cardigan shirt," I say sadly, "My address is 253 Addison Drive," I tell him and he nods, typing my words into his phone with his free hand as he carries me downstairs as if I weigh nothing.

He handed me my phone, which I accepted gratefully. I looked down and saw a few calls from my brother, None from my mother, and 200+ from Mackenzie and Amber-Rose.

He carries me outside, placing me inside of his sleek car on the passenger side.

"Maybe she hasn't realized yet," I thought to myself, softly to myself but Chase looked over at me for a second before focusing on driving

It was dark outside, my mom might be drunk out of her head or might think I was there the whole time and then, I wouldn't get in trouble, hopefully.

We pulled up to my house and my mom was standing outside, a large almost finished bottle of hard alcohol in her hand.

"No, no, no, no," I can't help but cry, grabbing my bag off the floor of the car.

"Thank you," I say softly before opening my door and stepping out of his black car

I walked over to my mom, "Where have you been?" She reeked of alcohol as she slurred her words

"I'm sorry Mom," I say softly, looking down at the floor

"You will be sorry when I'm done with you. Get inside!" She shouts at me, anger rising in her voice as she gestures into the house aggressive

I hurry into the house, putting my glasses down on the counter as she follows close behind me slamming the door behind herself.

She went upstairs grabbing her belt as I allowed the tears I was holding back to fall down my face.

"Mommy, please I'm sorry," I manage through tears

She swings at me with the metal part of her belt hitting my side making me scream in pain. She swung at me so many times I lost count before she started hitting and punching me making sure the only place she left unscathed was my face.

She grabbed my wrist tightly pulling me with her before throwing me towards the wooden coffee table making me hit my back hard.

My wrist was throbbing in pain and I was bruised all over my body. She began kicking my stomach and hitting me everywhere until she had finally grown tired of me.

She kicked me once more as hard as she could, making me groan loudly in pain.

How much longer could I possibly endure this? 17 years in itself, is too long, how could I do this any longer?

I picked up my glasses before I limped myself to my room and went into the bathroom. I made a bath to sit in it but as I pulled my skirt off, the paper fell from my waistband.

If you need my help again my number is ***-***-****.

-Chase

I put the paper on the counter and sat in my bath, trying to relax my tense, painful muscles.

When I got out, I was still sore and every part of my body hurt. I picked out an outfit for tomorrow which was a pair of high-waisted jeans and a long sleeve pink cardigan shirt.

I slowly put myself in bed and put my glasses back on. I picked up my phone and looked at the number before typing it in and calling the number.

He answered within seconds, "Hello?"

"Umm, lo siento, no entiendo inglés," I rushed out without thinking, as I panicked

"Buen intento, the recuerdo," he said back in Spanish

I moved the phone away from my face as I groaned, "I don't know what you said," I lie, if he knows Spanish I bet if we started talking more he would say a few things not expecting me to understand

"Oh, a girl that knows one sentence in another language. I like it," he says making me blush

"Sorry, I just wanted to thank you for helping me yesterday, I guess fighting isn't very easy when you're extra scared," I laugh nervously

"It's okay, ma. I'll help you out whenever you need it," he says

"Sorry, I have school tomorrow, and I need to do my homework," I tell him preparing to end the call

"I can help if you'd like," he offered politely

"Oh sure, I wouldn't mind. Are you sure?" I ask him

"Yeah," he says before it says he was requesting to change it to a video call.

I accepted and put my phone up on my desk as I took out my folder and a pink pen.

I pushed my glasses up the bridge of my nose Slightly and winced when I heard a bottle break.

"What was that?" Chase asks

I look at the camera and play dumb, furrowing my eyebrows, "What was what? Did you hear something?" I ask him

"Mm, never mind," he replies lowly

I start doing my homework and ask him for help with a few questions when I get the chance. I don't understand why I said he could help to see as I'm a straight-AA student so I wasn't exactly struggling with the homework. I just enjoyed his company and hearing him speak.

When I finished I put my things into my bag. I heard the front door slam and sighed in relief.

"Who do you live with?" Chase asks suddenly

"My mom," I tell him as I straightened out my outfit for tomorrow

"Is she nice?" he pushes further

"Oh yeah, my mom is awesome. She makes the best lasagna too," I lie

I don't get to eat much at home, only at school which is why I was slightly underweight, but nothing anyone noticed, I hope.

He nods a small smile grazing his perfect lips, "I hope you didn't get into too much trouble," he says

"Oh no, I just got grounded," the lie slides off my tongue a little too easily.

He nods suspiciously slowly, "You've got to sleep," he speaks suddenly

"I'm not tired," I whine and then widen my eyes at my own tone looking at the camera where Chase had a smirk on his face.

"You have school tomorrow and I saw you yawn like 4 times. Go to sleep, you can text me tomorrow if you want to talk to me that much," he jokes at the end of his sentence

I move my tongue around my mouth as my mouth is slightly open, and I blush, "Yeah, I'll text you tomorrow," I rush out, picking up my phone to hide my face

"Of course, you will," he says before saying bye and hanging up.

I sigh laying down in my bed getting under the covers and putting my phone on the charger but it beeps.

Chase: good night, ma

Me: good night, Chase
