That morning, the sun poured golden light across the mansion—but Amanda felt none of its warmth.

With trembling fingers, she placed a call to Austin, hoping his voice would offer the reassurance she desperately needed.

It didn’t.

“I’m busy. I’ll call you back,”

he said curtly, ending the call before she could even reply.

Amanda stared at her screen in disbelief.

Austin had grown cold. Distant. Ever since Anna returned.

“Come in,”

his voice called from inside.
