The room was still heavy with the warmth of what had just passed between them, the silence humming like a secret they were both too breathless to disturb. Racheal lay nestled against Austin, her cheek pressed to his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. It grounded her, held her still, made her unwilling to move. His arm, strong and steady, curved protectively around her waist as if letting go would break the spell they had fallen into.

For the first time in so long, she felt safe. Whole. Almost loved.

But the spell was shattered by the sharp, insistent buzz of his phone on the bedside table. The sound cut through the thick silence like a blade, pulling Austin’s gaze away. He frowned, leaned forward, and glanced at the screen. His expression hardened, the softness in his eyes retreating behind the cool, unreadable mask he often wore when business called.

“It’s work,” he muttered, the regret in his tone betraying him even as he tried to appear detached. His thumb h

The corridor felt colder than usual, the air weighed down with unsaid words. Racheal remained bent on the polished floor, arms wrapped around herself, long after Daisy’s retreating footsteps had vanished. She hadn’t meant to sink so low, but her knees had given way without permission, trembling beneath the storm building inside her. Her cheek pressed lightly against her knees, she listened to the hollow silence of the mansion. The walls here always seemed to breathe secrets, and tonight they pressed in closer, as though listening. Her chest rose and fell with uneven breaths. Daisy hadn’t spoken a word, but silence often cut sharper than scorn. She might knows something. The thought pierced her, cruel and sudden. Daisy’s eyes had lingered too long, as if peeling her apart. Even if she hadn’t heard the full exchange with Amanda, there was suspicion already in her gaze. And suspicion in this house was a death sentence. Racheal pushed herself up slowly, her palms flat against the col

Racheal went home with the documents clutched tightly in her hand, her joy swelling higher than it had in weeks. Every step she took up the marble steps of the mansion felt lighter, as if she carried victory itself in her bag. She had done it—she had accomplished what no one thought she could. The thought filled her with pride, almost making her forget the dangers that still lurked ahead. She pushed open the door, her heart still racing, only to stop short. Austin was standing in the hallway, waiting. His figure filled the space, tall and steady, but his eyes—those eyes—were shadowed, carrying a weight she recognized instantly.Startled, she slipped the documents into her bag quickly, hiding the evidence of her triumph. She forced a smile, though her chest tightened.“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice rough, threaded with guilt. “I should never have left you alone. I didn’t think my grandfather could turn on me so easily… not after everything I’ve sacrificed for the company.”Her lips cu

Racheal sat on the edge of her bed, her heart hammering so hard she felt it in her throat. Her hands wouldn’t stay still, fingers twisting over each other. She could hear her own breathing, sharp and uneven. “No one trusts me anymore,” she muttered. “But I’m not letting everything be for nothing.” Before fear could chain her in place, she grabbed her keys and bolted down the stairs. The black JLK gleamed in the driveway. She jumped in, slammed the door shut, and turned the ignition. "Please, please, start"she whispered as the car came alive. She sped off, tyres squealing. Horns blared, brakes screeched, but she didn’t stop. Her eyes stayed locked on the road until the towering gates of her father’s mansion came into view—now belonging to Luke. The sight made her chest ache. “How am I going to get in?” she murmured, scanning the tall iron bars. She could already see guards stationed at the main gate, rifles slung over their shoulders, their eyes scanning the road. “Think, Racheal

The room lingered with tension, rising like smoke in the air. Austin stood in a daze. A part of him couldn’t help but wonder—if the real Anna had been found, would Mr. Daniels have pushed him aside this easily? Without a word, Austin quietly turned and left, leaving Racheal alone with John. Across the room, John’s eyes turned red, burning with rage as he stared at his grandfather. She froze as he stepped closer. Gone was the playful, calm John she used to know—this man’s stare was sharp and cold. She swallowed hard, then stood to her feet. “Umm… please excuse me,” she stammered, her voice trembling as she walked slowly toward the door. She didn’t look back. Once she was gone, John rushed over to Mr. Daniels' bedside. “You have to reconsider,” he said firmly. “You can’t just throw all of Austin’s work under the rug like it means nothing. Please—for his sake—let them share it. 50/50.” “No,” Mr. Daniels said, his voice weak but his tone unshakable. “I’ve made my decision.” Joh

He had never truly known Racheal. Austin’s chest tightened. He didn’t want to doubt her—God knows he didn’t—but the silence between them echoed louder than his thoughts. Every day with her felt like reading a book with pages torn out. Finally, he turned to her, voice low but firm. “Who are you, really?” Racheal’s expression changed instantly. The spark in her eyes dulled, her lips parted in quiet shock. Around them, the room went still. Everyone was already suspecting her. Now Austin had joined them. She looked down, voice barely a whisper. “My name is Racheal... and I have a brother. His name is Carl. We’ve always struggled. We weren’t born with privilege like all of you. We had to survive. That’s what I was doing—surviving.” Her words were soft but each one weighed heavy. Austin felt the shift in her emotions—the disappointment in his doubt. And it worked. He sighed, guilt curling in his gut. “I’m sorry,” he muttered. She shook her head. “I just... I need time.” Without an
