|| Lilac's POV ||

The celebration hummed around me, laughter and clinking glasses grating against my frayed nerves. Torchlight flickered across the garden, casting long shadows that seemed to twist like living things. My fingers clenched around my wine glass hard enough to shatter it.

Ezra had helped Elias to a seat, the picture of gracious victory. My little brother—my sweet, reckless brother—was smiling as if he hadn't just dismantled a seasoned warrior in front of the entire kingdom.

"Sorry, I hope you won't take it personally," Ezra said, handing Elias a cloth for his bleeding lip.

My vision tinted red.

I strode forward, my silk skirts whispering against the grass like a blade being drawn.

"Why? Why would you challenge him during the Ceremony?" The words tore from my throat before I could stop it.

Ezra blinked at me. "Come on, Lilac. It was a good spar!"

"Shut up," I snapped, never taking my eyes off Elias.

He looked up at me, his too

  • His Abandoned Luna   203. Training Session

    || Lilac’s POV || The woods smelled of damp earth and pine, the afternoon sun filtering through the canopy in golden shafts that painted the forest floor in flickering light. Birdsong drifted through the trees, mingling with the distant rush of a creek. It was peaceful here— far from the packhouse, far from prying eyes. Endora’s words echoed in my mind. "Stay close to nature. Train your body. Let it remind your wolf what she is fighting for." A twig snapped behind me. I didn’t need to turn to know it was Alaric. His presence was like a living thing, a pulse of heat against my back, the scent of pine and something darker, wilder, wrapping around me before he even spoke. I inhaled, trying to melt in that fire, in his fire! It was solitude! My peace, my alpha! "Ready?" His voice was rough, edged with something that made my stomach tighten. Given the current circumstances, Alaric even suggested it would be better if I learn a few moves. From him, personally

  • His Abandoned Luna   202. Endora

    || Lilac’s POV || The forest beyond Alaric's packhouse was alive with the scent of damp earth and pine, the towering trees casting long shadows across the narrow dirt path. Alaric walked ahead of me, his broad shoulders blocking most of the afternoon sun, his strides purposeful but unhurried. I trailed behind, my fingers brushing against the ferns that lined the trail, their leaves cool and slightly damp beneath my touch. "She doesn’t see many outsiders," Alaric said, glancing back at me. "But if anyone can help you understand what’s happening with Runa, it’s Endora." I nodded, though my stomach twisted at the mention of my missing wolf. Dormant. Not missing. That’s what everyone kept saying, as if Runa were merely sleeping and not gone, her presence in my mind replaced by an echoing silence that made my chest ache. The path sloped downward, leading to a small clearing where a weathered cottage stood, its wooden walls covered in ivy, smoke curling lazily from the

  • His Abandoned Luna   201. A New Pack

    || Lilac’s POV || The scent of pine and aged parchment filled the spacious bedroom as I unpacked my belongings into the dark oak wardrobe. Alaric’s packhouse was nothing like home— the walls were thicker, everything was close to nature and the silence was heavier. Every movement echoed, reminding me just how far I was from the familiar comforts of my family’s estate. My fingers lingered on the sleeve of a silk blouse, the fabric smooth against my skin. Father agreed to this too easily. The thought gnawed at me. He had barely protested when Alaric insisted I stay under his protection, away from the capital’s growing unrest. Away from Elias, who had been conveniently dispatched to the border on some fabricated investigation. "For your safety," Dad had said, his voice gruff. "And for theirs," Alaric had added, his grey eyes unreadable. I swallowed hard, folding the blouse with more force than necessary. They were hiding something— something bigger than Eli

  • His Abandoned Luna   200. Plan For Hunt

    || Lilac’s POV || The first light of dawn crept through the curtains, painting the room in pale gold. I stood frozen in the doorway, my fingers gripping the frame until my knuckles turned white. Behind me, Alaric's presence was a storm barely contained, his disapproval radiated through the bond we hadn't yet named, his jaw clenched tight enough to crack stone. "It's going to be okay," I whispered, more to myself than to him. Alaric's hand shot out, circling my wrist. His thumb brushed the racing pulse there. "Five minutes," he growled. "And if he touches you, or tries something funny…" "He won't." I pulled away before I could lean into his touch more, before I could let myself want to stay in his embrace. The omega was gone. Alexander took care of her. The bed was still warm when I slipped beneath the sheets, the scent of sex and deceit clinging to the fabric. My stomach turned. What did Madeline give him last night? I couldn’t tell. It must be somethin

  • His Abandoned Luna   199. The Fire

    || Lilac’s POV || I walked behind Alaric to a room that Alexander showed us. The moment the room’s door clicked shut behind us, Alaric's control shattered. His hands were on me before I could breathe -one tangling in my hair, the other gripping my waist hard enough to bruise as he backed me against the wall. The wood pressed into my spine, but I barely felt it, not when his mouth crashed down on mine with a hunger that stole my breath. "I've waited too fucking long for this," he growled against my lips, his teeth nipping at my bottom lip before soothing it with his tongue. I arched into him, my fingers scrambling at the buttons of his shirt. "Then stop waiting." His laugh was dark, promising. "Being impatient, little Luna." The dresser hit the backs of my thighs as he lifted me onto it, the wood cool through the thin fabric of my dress. His hands slid under my thighs, yanking me to the edge until there was no space left between us. "Alaric-" "

  • His Abandoned Luna   198. Betrayal in Full View

    || Lilac's POV || The night air was thick with the scent of pine and damp earth as we approached the secluded villa. Moonlight filtered through the trees, casting long, skeletal shadows across the path. My heels sank slightly into the soft ground with each step, the silence between us heavy with unspoken tension. "Do you feel anything?" Madeline asked suddenly, her voice too casual. I frowned. "Feel what?" She exchanged a glance with Astrid, who merely shrugged. "You'll see." Instead of leading me through the front door, Madeline guided me around the side of the villa, toward a large, uncovered window. The curtains were drawn back, revealing a dimly lit bedroom inside. "What are we—" Astrid pressed a finger to her lips, silencing me. Then she pointed. My breath caught. There, in the center of the room, was Elias. And he wasn’t alone. A woman—no, a wolf—was wrapped around him, her bare limbs tangled with his as they kissed with a
