From his place propped up on the couch, Ash eyed Alex with suspicion as he walked back into the room. His phone was tucked away in his pocket again, instead he held a glass of water.

“Here. Sit up and drink something,” Alex murmured monotonously. He held out the glass without looking at Ash. A frown creased his brow. He seemed...troubled.

Ash cautiously took the glass, but his gaze never left Alex anxious features. “What is it? What did the doctor say? Am I going to—” he hissed, cutting himself off as yet another flash of heat struck him. A soft gasp escaped his lips.

Alex sat next to him, a hand smoothing over his back in gentle, calming strokes. “I’m going to call a car. You have to get to a heat clinic.”

Ash nearly choked on his first sip of water. “No,” he coughed out, shaking his head. He turned to glare at Alex and pointed a finger firmly in his face. “Hell no.”
