LOGINErin's POV
“Now you are not who I expected to see walking through that door,” Azure Blackwood sat in his expensive suit at a cheap laminate table similar to the one in the room I’d just left.
His leg was propped up on his knee, and he looked utterly relaxed for someone who had just found out that they might be having a baby with their enemy's wife.
“You’ve got to be playing some sort of prank,” I turned towards Dr. Swart, eyes pleading with him to laugh it off, and take me to the right room.
This couldn’t be happening.
“Mrs. Connolley, I can assure you that there is no prank happening,” Dr. Swart offered a tense smile. “This is the donor whose sperm was used in your egg. It appears that the two of you know one another?”
“Loosely,” I mutter.
Azure smirks, “Very loosely.”
“Shut it,” I snarled, making him let out a chuckle.
Azure Blackwood was your typical man of power. He flaunted himself with fancy cars, did numerous interviews over the years bragging about his accomplishments, and had every woman in the state of Oregon drooling over his perfect face and body.
We’d run into each other more than once at Gala’s and charity auctions. Once, he’d purchased a date with himself for the low price of one-million dollars just to avoid going on a date with someone random.
I wanted to be angry about it, but it was honestly a genius plan.
“In that case, we can skip introductions,” Dr. Swart hesitantly moves to the opposite side of the table with his thick folder, and I take the furthest seat from Azure.
“Two weeks ago, there was an issue with a new employee and, unfortunately, that involved Mrs. Connolley’s egg and Mr. Blackwood’s sperm. While this is still in the very early stages of development, we wanted to have the two of you meet as soon as possible to decide what to do moving forward,” Dr. Swart explained, beginning to pull out paperwork.
He slid a document over to me, showing the tests that were run on Azure, ensuring that he was a healthy donor for IVF. He received one that showed that I was a healthy egg donor as well.
“How does something like this happen in such a renowned clinic?” Azure arched a brow, looking bored as he reviewed my paperwork.
“Human error,” I hissed. “It’s actually quite natural to make mistakes.”
“Not for me,” he spoke slowly before sliding his tongue along his teeth beneath his lips. “But certainly, you must be used to it considering you’re here.”
The memory of Rowan’s harsh words flood my mind. You’re not broken. That’s what he said to Ophelia.
I was broken.
“Natural or not, we plan to take full responsibility for the mistake. The nurse in question has already been terminated, and refunds have been backdated. All future appointments will be comped as well. Please understand that this is a one in a million chance and does not happen often, therefore it is not taken lightly.”
“Money isn’t an issue,” Azure waved his hand, as if it didn’t matter, but to me, it did. It really fucking did. Because in a few short months, I was going to be on my own, without the support of my millionaire husband. Sure, if I played my cards right, I wouldn’t be left penniless, but IVF is costly, and every penny will matter when it comes down to raising my child. ‘
“What is the next step?” I ignored Azure, focusing on the doctor.
“You said you’d taken a test,” he arched a brow, and that was the moment Azure turned his attention to me.
“Yes,” I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up under his scrutinizing gaze. “It was positive.”
“You probably should have led with that,” Azure’s tune shifted entirely. “You’re pregnant? As in, carrying my baby?”
I dug through my purse, tossing the pregnancy test with two bright pink lines at him. He caught it with ease, not looking the slightest bit disgusted while holding my piss stick, and just stared at it with wide, bright gray eyes.
“We’ve implanted over thirty donors,” his eyes slowly raised to Dr. Swarts, “And you’re telling me she’s the one that stuck?” Azure thumbed towards me, and my shoulders fell.
For a whole two seconds, I thought he might actually be a decent human, but then he decided to open his mouth and ruin it.
“Fuck you,” I hissed under my breath.
“You wish, sweetheart,” he winked.
“We haven’t confirmed it yet here in the clinic, but as soon as we conclude this meeting, Mrs. Connolley will be taken in for further testing,” Dr. Swart explained, wringing his hands nervously. “While I go order the tests, you two can discuss what happens next.”
The sound of the door closing made my heart race.
I was alone in a room with Azure Blackwood.
“Where is Rowan on this lovely morning?” Azure smirked. “Didn’t you want to let the hubby in on the fact that you were pregnant with another man’s baby?”
I ignored his dig, “I’m keeping this baby.”
“I wasn’t planning on letting you run off with him,” he snorted.
“Him?”
“Oh yes, you are carrying my son.”
“That’s quite sexist. Do you have anything against having a daughter?”
“Not in the slightest, I just know you’re carrying my son,” he shrugged, as if that were enough of an explanation. “Did you tell him already?” Azure looked like a crazed man, eyes wide and wild as he stared at me with that damned smirk. “Rowan, I mean.”
“You’re being awfully laid back about this situation. Won’t your partner be upset?”
“Don’t have one,” he shrugged.
My brows furrowed together, “Then why are you going through IVF?”
“Are men not allowed to want children without a woman in their life?” he tilted his head, staring at me with a hardened gaze. I swallowed thickly, realizing that I was just spouting off nonsense. “And here I thought I was being the sexist one.”
He didn’t need a partner. Just like I didn’t need one either.
“I can pay you handsomely when you give birth. Then you can spend the rest of your life in luxury while trying for a baby of your own,” Azure explained at my silence. “I’ll have Finnick draw up legal documents.”
“Are you out of your fucking mind?” I snapped at the insinuation. “This is my baby too.” I stood, jabbing my finger into my chest.
“Are you really planning to destroy your marriage with this?” his scoff wasn’t surprising, but whatever he saw in my face must have tipped him off, “Wait,” Azure sat up straighter, “There is a reason Rowan isn’t here, isn’t there?”
“I will not be pushed out of our child’s life,” I whispered, ignoring his question. “You can either coparent with me or walk away. But you don’t get to demand that I give away the only child I’ve been able to conceive.”

Azure's POVI’ve been staring at the wall in my office for some time now. How long? I’m not even sure anymore. It’s… I roll my wrist, a crack from my joint echoing in the silence… 1:05 in the morning.I reluctantly left Finn hours ago, and for some goddessforsaken reason, Erin isn’t responding to my messages, and Enzo keeps giving me short answers, like the little shithead that he is.Loneliness tugs at my mind, and for the first time in a very, very long time; I feel truly alone.I wonder what Erin thinks of me now that she knows the truth. The man behind the curtain was never arrogantly strong. It was all an act. The performance of a lifetime… Does she still find me fascinating? Does she wonder if I will be able to hold it together for our pup?Does she even want to be a part of this life anymore?I snort, sitting upright to ease the ache in my spine. The thought pops into my mind at the exact moment Nero speaks, the two sounds echoing in my mind. She doesn’t have a choice. Erin's POVI grit my teeth, forcing a smile onto my face as I turned towards Enzo, “I’ll be right back.”“Do you need me to get you anything to drink, doll?” Enzo struggles through the acting on that one, and I play along, “Could you get me something to eat also? I’m famished.”“Anything for you,” his lips pull between his teeth in an attempt not to laugh as he leans forward to peck my forehead before nodding at Rowan, who might as well have smoke coming from his ears, and headed towards the buffet of appetizers lined up on various tables.I followed my mother down the hallway and into a room that reminded me of where a bride might get ready for her wedding. A tall mirror leans against a wall in the corner, surrounded by a thick golden floral border. A deep, chocolatey leather couch sits along the far wall as well as various vanities for doing hair and makeup. The room itself is decorated in a way that is light and airy, but my mother’s presence immediately ruins the atmosphere when s
Erin's POVRowan’s face was various shades of fading purples, greens, and yellows. His nose was taped up, and both of his legs were cast with over-the-knee bionic walking boots.“When did you get such a foul mouth?” he quipped with a growing smirk, which was very unlike him.I stared at him, trying to pick apart what had changed… Was he really doing drugs and now that he’s in recovery, he’s turned a new page?“Sorry,” he chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. “I sometimes forget that we’re no longer a happily married couple.”I watch his eyes dip to my very obvious baby bump, and he fights a scowl, fixing his face before meeting my gaze again, “My lawyer mentioned that you haven’t submitted the DNA test yet, is there a reason that you won’t?”“I don’t want to talk about this with you, here,” I blinked rapidly, shaking my head, “Or anywhere for that matter.”“Erin, please,” he reaches out to grab my arm, but I step back before his hand makes contact. “I’m sorry, that was out of line.”
Erin's POVI’m fidgety and Enzo has been uncharacteristically quiet, not even filling the space with his usual quips or sarcasm.“Why did you do that?” he finally mutters, and I watch the skin on his fingers turn white from gripping the steering wheel.“I didn’t do anything.”His sharp eyes turn towards me, “Cut the bullshit.”“Az forgets to give you grace sometimes,” I tap on my outer thigh in an attempt to distract myself. Enzo isn’t the only one who is struggling to grasp what had just happened.I wasn’t foolish enough to think that if that were anyone else, they wouldn’t have reacted the same way as Azure did. Groveling. I’d insulted him and he groveled. In the same situation, Rowan would have made me feel threatened. He never laid a hand on me, but the implication that he could was clear enough to keep me biting back the things that I wanted to say more often than not.My God, I’d been so stupid when it came to Rowan. The more time I spend away from the life I used to live the m
Erin's POVFinn is still in the hospital, and Az has been a wreck for the past few days. He’s trying to keep it together, but right now, his resolve is slipping.“No,” he shakes his head with a slight growl. “Not happening.”“I’ll be fine,” I mutter, feeling defeated. I understand his apprehension, but if I don’t show up today, my parents will use this as another tool in their arsenal.“Erin,” Azure’s silver eyes lock with mine as he gets up, moving around to the front of his desk where I’d been standing. “I can’t be there with you yet, and going alone isn’t an option.”“Az,” I reached up, feeling the stubble that has sprouted across his jawline, and smile. “Send someone with me, but I’m not giving this to them. Not to mention, if I don’t show, who the hell knows what might happen with my family or worse... If Rowan shows up.”Azure winces at the mention of Rowan. That was another subject we really hadn’t gotten the chance to deal with. Everything in our lives feels like it’s moving t
Erin's POV“Jealousy is an ugly as fuck trait, Colt,” Enzo didn’t spare Colt a glance, moving towards one of the mangled bodies, and tossing it over his shoulder like it weighed nothing. “You should focus on something different. Like yourself, maybe, instead of obsessing over me all the time.”He started walking in the direction that Colt stepped out of the woods, but stopped just short of the tree line, “Erin, if you must make yourself useful, go inside and see if anyone needs anything. Call for me if you need anything, troublemaker.”“The future Luna doesn’t need you barking orders at her,” Colt snarls. “Just goes to show you they chose the wrong guy to put on a pedestal.”Enzo doesn’t bother himself with a response, nor does he act as though Colt’s words affected him in the slightest.“Sin,” Enzo snarled, and I watched Sin scramble towards him, scooping up a discarded leg with an unimaginable amount of disgust written on his face.“Why do you allow that?” Colt stood there, fists cl

Erin's POVI stood, staring at the calendar in my makeshift office at Finn’s, the big red circle on today’s date a glaring reminder that my plan was in motion.Finn gently knocks on the doorframe, “Everything is all set.”I took a deep breath, glancing at him over my shoulder. He smiled, showing of
Erin's POVMy nose twitched from the smell of charred flesh and moss.It was a scent I’d never forget. As Az and I walked through the trees on our way to Finn, my surroundings felt so familiar, but I couldn’t peg where from. There was a fog clouding whatever memory my brain was trying to connect to
Erin's POV “Yes,” my sister hissed, “You haven’t bother returning my phone calls.” She held up a casserole bag, “I figured you two could use some food.” “Erin,” Rowan called out. “Who’s here?” “Willow,” I grit my teeth at the sound of Rowan’s voice. I was about to tell him to fuck off, and
