C H A P T E R 40 - Elijah.

Waking up the next morning proved to be much harder than I thought it was going to be. I knew that I hadn’t done much in terms of sleeping, but I also felt like I had slept enough and that I wouldn’t be able to sleep for longer. But, now that I was actually trying to get myself to move and to get out of bed, my body was protesting. Whether I liked it or not, I would have to come to terms with the fact that I was not going to go anywhere. At least not now.

Last night had also taken longer than I had prepared for it to take, despite the fact that Samantha had ended up waking up. I didn’t know whether or not the fact that she had been awake played a role in it, but if she had still been sleeping and I had simply been able to carry her up the stairs, things wouldn’t have taken so long. I would have been in bed and asleep in a matter of minutes.

It was in this process of allowing myself to get caught up in my thoughts that I was able to realise that there was a considerable amount of light
