ALESSIA'S POV "Do you imagine I'm happy tagging this hog along every time?" Thompson cocked his chin in my direction like I was some stomp in the pasture. "That doesn't change the fact that Alessia gets to attend these functions as your wife while I stay home all night waiting for you to come back." A sly smile twitched on my lips, Annalise and my husband had their row about the grand marriage anniversary of the southern territories Alpha and his Luna. Annalise was Thompson's mate while I was his wife. "What the hell is funny?" Thompson took giant strides to where I stood by the refrigerator. The smiles on my face instantly faded. I knew how this always went. Thompson came awkwardly closer to me, towering before me, trapping me against the refrigerator and his rigid chest. His large palm cupped my chin tilting my head up so our gazes could fuse. "Let me make this clear to you, just because I have to stick to the goddamn law and have you attend these functions with me doesn't mean I give a fuck about you!" It wasn't what he said that hurt every time but how he said them. "Remind her I'm the one you love. Let her know I'm your fated mate and she's just one hell of a mistake you're trying to make right!" Annalise croaked like a drunken crazed hyena. Thompson's beautiful crystal hazel eyes softly regarding mine. A minute of silence gave him the chance to suck in a quick breath, and run his fingers through his silky strands. "She knows. How can she ever think otherwise?" "I'll go confirm the laundry," I spoke quietly, in a hurry to find an exit from Thompson's blazing gaze. Avoiding making any contact as possible, I slipped from the refrigerator, almost darting towards the door, but he steely grabbed my arm, grappling me back to the refrigerator. Hurling me hard against it. A yelp left my lips. "Don't you ever dare try to walk out on me!" He slammed his hand hard on the refrigerator, probably leaving a dent in it. He was a pretty strong wolf, and he was pretty mad. The fierceness in his eyes always made him appear even more appealing to me. But everything had changed on his twenty-fourth birthday when he returned with his mate. How could I ever forget that? "I didn't mean to, I'm sorry." I mumbled out. He must've caught the fear that momentarily seized my features, he sucked in a breath and moved away from me. Silence descended on the vast kitchen of the mansion and remained that way until I got ready to leave with Thompson for the big night. "You look pretty, mommy." Adrian, my super cute four year old complimented from where he curled up on the beanbag at the corner of the room. He was the only one I talked to around here. I offered him a weary smile and returned to the mirror. "Do you think I look fat in this yellow dress, or should I just change into the black?" When no reply came, I looked over my shoulder only to meet his confused gaze. Too young to understand. I grabbed the black dress and disappeared into the closet returning to the bedroom to catch the expression on his face. "This or the previous dress?" "You, mommy." He smiled cutely. "I know, baby, but which outfit looks better, I need to look good tonight." So your dad can appreciate me, for once. I fought the urge to add. He sprang to me from the cashmere beanbag for a hug, I lowered myself to his height and planted a kiss on his forehead. "I think this black. It conceals my stomach and makes my arms appear thinner." "What's wrong with your stomach?" How I wish he understood these things. Annalise didn't know how lucky she was to have a body like that even after having her daughter, while I looked so bloated as the day went by. I caught the negativity and instantly replaced them with a more positive thought. "I'm beautiful." But who was I kidding? "Yes mommy. You're very pretty." Now, that was the only validation I needed. "Thank you." I beamed with glistening eyes. I tucked him in his bed, kissed him before I headed out of his room to wait for Thompson in the living area. About thirty minutes later, he descended the stairs with Annalise clinging to his side in a silk and sexy nightdress, one I'd be terribly embarrassed to wear. She was a very beautiful lady. The smiles faded from her face the second her blue eyes dropped on me. Thompson's hard jaws sagged, his eyes wandering every part of me, lips intrigued. "What are you wearing?" Annalise began, as usual, "Did you not see how much of a pig you look in that dress? Who did your makeup because you look like an Oompa Loompa right now." "Okay. Five minutes, I'll go change and wipe off..." "You fuckin' kidding me," Thompson glanced at his wristwatch, "You don't expect me to wait that long?" Exactly how I ended up leaving the mansion like a pig version of Oompa Loompa. Thompson was on the phone with Annalise all through the ride but his gaze crept my way whenever he thought I wasn't looking. The car halted in front of the enormous building. My nerves quickened and my fingers began to tremble. At first, I thought it was about my social anxiety acting up. But when the sweet sandalwood wafted up my nostrils stirring up a profound excitement in the hollow pit of my soul, it snagged at me. My mate? Thompson blew a million kisses into his phone before the call ended, glanced at my way and mistook my hesitations for awkwardness. "It's another evening to embarrass yourself." He got down when the stoic security guard held the car door open for us. I stuck to his side as close as possible, ignoring the growing excitement in my soul to every step I took towards the main entrance door. I had a husband and a son, a family that I love and I'd never trade them for anyone else.Chapter 110Alessia's POVHe watched me with narrowed eyes, sorting an explanation of which I had none. “What was that for?’’ He eventually asked when I wouldn't say a word. I shrugged, turning my gaze from him. “You seemed a bit carried away. What's on your mind?’’‘‘I wasn't. I'm just curious to know how today ends’’ He answered with straight , stiff jaw and serious eyes. I wanted to pry further, but with another look at his face it seemed like a bad idea. So I swallowed back my voice and focused on the ride. Arriving at the mansion, I followed nearly closely behind Cyril. His countenance hadn't turned any different, in fact he now had his clenched jaw high up as we walked to the building. I was momentarily blown away as we walked into the living room, crowded with people. “Mom Alessia!’’ Liah’s ever familiar voice screamed out, and she appeared before time, hurrying towards me.“Mom!’’ Adrian called as well. It was then I noticed Thompson seated on the couch with Adrian in h
Chapter 109Cyril’s POV Had it been a less important issue, I'd have bursted into a hot chuckle at the expression on her face right now. But it wasn't. ‘‘You think I just opened my mouth and spilled everything to him, you wanna judge me like that huh?’’ She panned out. Just how she turned out to be the one upset was what I couldn't place fingers on. Shouldn't I be the one in that spot?‘‘Well what happened then?’’ I chose to be blunt. She heaved a scoff, throwing her face unbelievably around the room before they returned to settle on me once again. “If you're intentionally being blunt you should stop it already. It's so not funny!’’ “It seems you don't have all those strange energy rushing through you anymore, you should have been halfway into your wolf form by now.’’ I teased. “I'm not upset. You're mistaken.’’ She scoffed. “I could have sworn you were.” “Whatever. What did you say Thompson was up to now? Figure out the details of the curse? He's got to be fucking kidding ri
Chapter 108 Alessia's POV “Huh?’’ I was taken aback. He was too quick with his words, how could I make out meanings to it? “I'm not letting you go this time around.’’ He placed out firmly. “Back to Thompson?’’ I asked. “You're not planning on returning to him are you? Cause I won't let that happen. At least until you have my pub.” He relayed, completely avoiding gaze with me. A secret smile tugged the side of my lips, my heart tingling with tiny butterflies. “Hmm. You sure about that?’’ I teased. ‘‘Try me.’’ He wasn't taking things lightly, his jaws tensed up. If only he knew! I'd long refuted my commitment to Thompson, he was less the kind of man I wanted for myself. However, that was just a conviction I made morally to myself. With my wolf now involved, things had grown wilder. It doesn't require just my conviction anymore but a more natural irresistible effect that loathes the thought of having any other man close to me asides my mate. Cyril doesn't know
Chapter 107Alessia's pov“Thank you so much. It's been a while since I had porridge so I really enjoyed it’’ I commended, wiping my lips with a serviette. With her usual weird smile, Aloha came up to clear the dishes. “I feel bad having to just lay here and watch you deal with my dishes like this.’’ I remarked sincerely. “You don't have to, it's the best you can do for now.” She answered, standing with the tray. “I'll be back.’’ Once again my gaze was back to the blank ceiling— the usual daily routine since I awoke from death pit. Cyril hadn't visited again since the last time, and I keep wondering if it has to do with an incapability to get his hands on Adrian for me, or if he had just been busy with work. I needed to get back to the mansion. I couldn't stay here any longer. Gripping my fists on the iron bars on both sides of the bed, I forced my weight up with every strength I could muster. My muscles didn't vibrate so much this time, and it was easier to sit up unlike ever
Chapter 106CYRIL'S povNot a word left my lips. My squint deepened as I tried to make sense of his intentions. There was no way he really meant what he said. My gaze got to him, cause he seemed to snap out of whatever made him make such outburst with a tensed chuckle. ‘‘It's not what you're thinking. What I meant was laying her off of working in the mansion.’’ He clarified. “And why would I do that?” I asked, a bit relief by the clarification. “Can't you see? She… she's just… I dont know. Incompetent! I hate her aura, I don't want her anywhere close to me….’’ He groaned frustratedly. “Alan.’’ I cut in. ‘‘Tell me what is going on.’’ And I meant serious business. “Gawd!’’ He ruffled his hair, throwing his gaze about even though there was nothing to see. ‘‘Is it so hard to let me in on it?’’ I spoke again.‘‘Has she told you anything?’’ He asked back, pausing for a moment with sparkles in his eyes. Dreadful sparkles. “Did she?’’ I asked back.“That darn bitch!” He scoffed, rage
Chapter 105CYRIL’S pov“So, what is this about, our high king?’’ She eventually broke the silence, watching me through the top of her eyes as if to study what mood lived inside of me. Of course it'd be best if she chose her words wisely. ‘‘Alessia's kid.’’ I paused shortly. ‘‘Adrian? What about him?’’ “I'll like to have him over.’’ I said. Following Lance's advice while we returned from Aloha's residence, it wasn't quite necessary to involve myself with Thompson directly since there was an intermediary within our reach. All I needed to do was play the dice well and Eliza would work out the rest. Thompson cannot find out about Alessia just yet, or he'll urge to meet and never release the kid. I should be convinced about Alessia after the experience with her earlier today, but a tiny part of me still feared she might get swayed by Thompson if he professed an undying love for her. I didn't wish to find out what it'd be.“What happened to Alessia?’’ Eliza bursted out, after moment
