Chapter 2

Daisie POV

I came out from the hall smiling beautifully. My last paper was a success and thank goodness I was done with school, that means I will have to join my aunt in her work and we don’t have to suffer any more from money.

I know it wouldn’t be huge, but at least it would be better than the one my aunt brings back home. They say two head is better than one.

“ Riley! I’m so happy we are finally done!” I heard Amal talking to Riley as they hugged themselves. I was standing alone at the entrance of our class. You must be wondering why no one has come to hug or congratulate me, that is because I have no friends.

No one speaks to a poor orphan like me. Most of them all mocked at me either at my back or boldly to my face. But there is only one person who is different and that person is a guy.

I stood for some minutes looking around the premises for the last time because I know I won’t step into this place ever again or even wear this uniform.

I smiled to everywhere I turned to, I walked towards the garden touching all the beautiful flowers. I love flowers, but I wasn’t sure if I love them than my mom did.

She loves flowers, that her name was even named after flowers. Her name was Lily Collins, and that makes me Daisie Collins. I don’t know my last name or I would rather say I don’t have a last name. My parents never told me before they died, and I don’t think that’s a big deal either.

And I didn’t tell you, my name is also a flower name. Daisie is a name of a flower, so now I can see the theory of the reason why I also love flowers.

“ Daisie!” I heard someone call my name cheerfully. Only one person calls me that way, I mean cheerfully in this school. Is either I want to get a mockery from my peers or a slap, but when it was cheerfully then it was the different person I told you about.

“ Miler!” I called his name cheerfully too. I saw him running with full speed towards me for a hug.

He hugged me tightly, like the best friend I know I have. “ Oh Daisie…” he caressed my hair softly, I just continued smiling. “ Congratulations Daisie! We made it to the last day!” he hugged me again, and kissed my cheek slowly and warmly.

“ Thank you, Miler,” I smiled. “ Congratulations too. To us!” I flapped my hands open for more hugs. We were smiling briefly to each other, then a thought came up in my mind. Tomorrow is my birthday and there is one more person I would like to celebrate it with apart from my aunt Jessica.

“ Hey Miler, do you mind coming to my house tomorrow?” I asked staring into his eyes. Miler eyes are ice blue, they were the eyes I had never seen before and he has this brown hair that always curls. He was almost as tall as me anyway.

“ Tomorrow is my birthday Miler, and I would love you to be there.” I said with excitement. And suddenly his eyes started to go dull as he glance at me.

“ I’m sorry Daisie. I wish I would be there, I would have love it so much to celebrate with you.” he said sadly.

“ But why?” my voice was low and my brow arched in confusion.

“ I- I’m travelling Daisie.” he said with so much sadness in his voice. I blinked in shock, my lips dropped open didn’t know what to say. Where was Miler going? Why does he has to go? He is the only friend I have in this world and he was leaving me?

I didn’t care to ask why he was leaving or where he was leaving to. I just broke down in tears . “ Miler please don’t go. Please don’t leave me, you are the only friend I have Miler..” I was holding his wrist with his uniform already.

His eyes were replenishing with tears too. “ I wish I could stay Daisie. You are my only friend and I don’t wish to leave you.”

“ But you are leaving!” I yelled, gashes blocking my vision. “ Miler please don’t leave me…” he took my hands off his wrist, pulling me into a tight hug.

“ Daisie, I will want to be there for you. But I can’t promise I would be there,” his tone was low. “ Please don’t cry Daisie.. You are a big girl now, and you are going to clock eighteen soon.” he started wiping my face, and I wasn’t ending the tears.

He let go of me, “ I don’t want to promise I will be there. But happy birthday, my dearest Daisie..” he kissed my forehead for the time I knew it would be the last.

“ Okay, okay.. I have to go now..” he wiped my tears again. He stepped back from me, I wanted to grip him again but something in me stopped me. I just waved at him the last time before he went out of sight.

Well Daisie, this is life. I think it’s normal, people come and go in your life..Daisie..

I had nothing to do in school anymore so I ran back home. I met Jessica wrapping up something as gift, when she saw me she immediately hid it behind her. The day was a little bright, but that meant soon it would be dusk. The time was 5pm presently.

“ Hey honey, how are you?” she ran forward to kiss me and I kissed her back on her cheek. Thank goodness I had my tears dried up, if not she would start getting worried because her precious Daisie cried.

“ Tell me your last paper was sweet, Daisie?” she asked rubbing my cheek.

“ It was superb aunt. I am so happy I am free now. Which means I would assist you in your job.” I told her.

“ Awwn, that’s so sweet of you my precious flower.” she pulled my cheek slightly.

“ Okay go freshen up honey, that is the first thing you do when you survive the hot sun.” she said. I charged into my room. We were living in the old house my parents stayed and gave birth to me. Aunt Jessica is a very young and beautiful woman, she has red hair and a red lips just as mine. She is tall and she has all that figure eight shape which I sometimes envy a lot. Here is the surprising part, Jessica is single.

My parents died when I was just two years old, since then Jessica has dedicated all her life taking care of me. Honestly, she is the most important person in the world to me. I feel like I owe her my life for all the years she has spent looking after her poor little niece.

I didn’t realize that I had been staring at her before she yelled at me. “ Daisie you have to bath before those sweat dries on your skin!”

I chuckled, this time running into my room. There was just two rooms and the one by the left belongs to me. When you get there you would easily decipher that it belongs to me. I had girlish posters all over the wall as decorations. One more thing, the paint on my own is pink, with that you don’t need anyone to tell you which room is mine.

My towel is also pink. I grabbed it after I had taken off my uniform dropping them roughly on the floor. I ran into the bathroom, letting the water pour on my head as I thought of Miler. I still hope it was a prank and that he would show up tomorrow on my birthday.

I didn’t take much time to bath. I’m not some people who plays music and bath for more than an hour.

My hair was all drenched, I grabbed my towel and began squeezing the water out of it. I have the same hair as my mom, she has brunette curling hair and that was what I took apart from her slim shape and hazel green eyes.

I dressed up and ran back to Jessica. She was warming up my lunch for me. “ Good you are back,” she said. “ Seat down I will set the table for us to eat. I haven’t eaten lunch either, I was waiting for you.” she grabbed one seat for me from the dinning table.

“ I will forever love you aunt, Thank you.” my eyes squinted as though a tears pricked my eyes.

“ Don’t mention, Darling. Eat up quickly, we have to discuss.” she said. I know if it was not about the birthday then it was nothing more than the work, I would be more excited to do anything she wants.
