(Selena's POV)

The moment I stepped into my car, locked the door, and exhaled—I broke.

Tears slipped down my cheeks silently, like they've been waiting behind my lashes, impatient and burning. My hands clutched the steering wheel like it could anchor me in a world that suddenly tilted sideways.

I was used.

Just like a pawn in the sick chess match between two brothers—one fueled by cruelty, the other by pain and vengeance. And I was the battlefield, the collateral damage.

I couldn’t go back to the office or drive home, I didn't want anyone to see me in this state. So I drove to Sophia’s studio.

It was late in the afternoon. As usual, she was lost in colors and canvas, music humming softly from her speakers, a paintbrush tucked behind one ear.

When she saw me at the door, something in her face shifted instantly.

“Selena?”

I didn’t say anything. I just walked in, and by the time she set down her palette and reached me, I was crying. The tears came fast, messy, and raw. My sobs echoed aga

(Luca's POV)I checked my watch for the twelfth time.12:46 p.m.I'm fourteen minutes early. I drove here with a calm resolve, parked with precision, and walked into Café Bellamy like a man with a mission. But now, seated at a table tucked away near the wide bay window, that calm was unraveling.I shouldn’t be nervous. I’ve faced numerous deals, spoken in front of world-class investors, and held my own in boardrooms filled with wolves. But this was different.I ran my fingers along the rim of my coffee cup, the ceramic was warm against my palm. The aroma of espresso and pastries filled the space around me, but none of it registered. My pulse tapped a restless beat against my wrist.I’ve imagined this moment over and over again. Rehearsed what I’d say–how I’d look her in the eyes and apologize. Seeing her message this morning brought a kind of relief, but right now, I feel a heavy weight in my chest. At exactly 1 p.m., the soft chime of the café doorbell rang. My head snapped up instin

  • His Brother's Bride    Chapter Thirty-three

(Selena's POV)My father was finally discharged from the hospital yesterday. His doctor was confident about his recovery, but only if he followed the strict lifestyle and medication instructions handed to him in a neatly stapled folder—one that my mother has practically memorized by now.She has not left his side for a second. She hovered around him like a gentle but persistent guardian angel, fluffing his pillows, monitoring his salt intake, and reminding him to drink water like clockwork.Damien, of course, came to pick us up from the hospital. Ever the dutiful son-in-law. He showed up in his perfectly pressed navy suit, holding his keys like a royal chauffeur, but with all the warmth of a glacier. He nodded politely at my mother, helped her into the car, and offered my father a subtle "You’ll be fine, sir."He still hasn't said anything about the night I shamelessly offered myself to him. It was as if it never happened. I tried to act like I wasn't bothered by it but this silence b

  • His Brother's Bride    Chapter Thirty-two

(Selena's POV)I've barely slept in the past two days. My eyes stung from holding back tears but I reminded myself that I need to be strong for my parents and this little life growing inside me.The doctor’s words still echoed in my head.“Your father has coronary heart disease. That’s what caused the heart attack.”“Is it… curable?” I had asked, even though deep down I knew the answer.“No,” he had said with a kind but clinical tone. “But it can be managed with medication, lifestyle changes, and regular monitoring. He’ll need to cut back on stress and maintain a strict routine.”My mother had gripped my hand so tightly I could feel her pulse vibrating through our joined fingers. She wasn’t crying, but her eyes told me everything. My mother is a strong woman but this has shaken her to her core. After the doctor left, I stayed by her side, gently rubbing her back and whispering soft reassurances until her tense shoulders relaxed and her breath evened out in sleep. She looked so fragile

(Luca's POV)Selena's silence was louder than any accusation. It's been two days now since I sent her that text and still no reply. Not even an angry text to tell me to go to hell. I didn’t think she’d actually ignore me for this long. I had thought she'd at least want an explanation.I couldn't keep waiting for her reply that might never come so I made my way to her office.I arrived around 10:00 a.m., dressed in a steel-blue suit that matched my mood. Calm on the outside but with a storm brewing underneath. The lobby of the Delacroix-Valenci tower was as pristine and controlled as I remembered—marble floors, high ceilings, soft orchestral music playing just above the hum of hushed voices and efficient heels. Everyone looked busy.I took the elevator up to the IT floor, exchanged handshakes with a few tech leads, and made small talk about cloud expansion strategies.Eventually, I asked one of the managers for the restroom—and took a detour.Selena’s office was on the 34th floor. I kn

  • His Brother's Bride    Chapter Thirty

(Damien's POV)As I stood before the full-length mirror in my bedroom, adjusting my cufflinks with precision, I could feel the flicker of something delicious rising in my chest.I poured myself a drink, sat by the window, and stared at the city lights with so much calm.Selena’s voice was fragile when she came home last night and said;“My dad is in the hospital. The doctor said it was a heart attack.”All I could hear in that moment was the silent, thrilling beat of opportunity knocking. If Robert dies, I'll become the sole CEO of the Delacroix-Valenci empire. It was exactly as Robert intended. He's the perfect example of a traditional man who doesn't believe in handing over his company to a female. Selena is his only child. He wants his son-in-law to be the one in charge. Whoever marries Selena takes control of his empire while Selena will assist him. That's why the merger exists. I married Selena so that both companies will become one and when he's no more, I take full control. And
