Gregory found himself in the dream realm to his annoyance. Looking around himself to make sure he was not in any danger Gregory noticed a small rabbit nearby. An animal even this weak could be a shifter or other creature which could be far more dangerous. It was not unheard of for certain spirits to hide in plain sight like this and then lure a predator in only to suddenly attack and drain the very life force from the predator.
Growling he stands his ground, “What do you want rabbit? You are in Black River Territory.”
A small reedy voice came from the rabbit, “I’m a hare not a rabbit. I’m here with a message just because I have to not be not because I want to.” If
Gregory crouched there knowing full well that he would not have time to leave the dream realm. The approaching wolves would catch him leaving this realm for the real realm and in a state he could not defend himself in. Therefore, his only options were fight or flight. Crouching there and looking quickly there was no way he could leave where he hid without them seeing him and giving chase, though running just didn’t fit with his sensibilities. There were five here now and how many would respond to the sound of a fight? He knew he was damned one way or another. These wolves hadn’t caught his scent yet as they wandered drunkenly towards him. Gregory’s heart was pounding in his chest as he tried to keep his breathing quiet. The first wolf passed him a mere foot away from him. Completely oblivious of him. He had actually stumbled just enough to completely miss stepping on Gregory’s hind foot. The wolves loudly laughed at his comical stumble.
Gregory entered the dining area, where the large banquet tables had been divided into smaller tables and spread out throughout the room.A buffet style breakfast was spread out by the far wall and people were sitting or moving around the room. They were gathering or eating while greeting or talking to each other. This was his pack. With everyone on the pack grounds feeding, housing and clothing them were full time jobs. But everyone seemed happy to be here for the most part. He walked among the tables greeting and talking to pack members as he moved towards a table near the buffet table.
Ending the phone call, Gregory looks up, as Jeff comes in with coffee in his hands. “Hey, I figured you’d need something as a pick me up since lunch is a ways away.” “Really? Hmm… Yeah, I could use it. That was my mother. She says we will have support from the council, but it’s by faction so we are going to have to work this out faction by faction. By the way what is with Yoyo back there?” “Well, I think it’s a few things with her really. Yoyo has always had a bit of a crush on you, as you well know.” Jeff gave him a knowing smirk remembering past events.
Aricka, Gregory and Evan followed Dr. Graves through the underground medical facility to a well appointed office on a lower level.Aricka was surprised at the size of what Gregory described as a clinic. She would have called it a hospital in its own right. When she commented on the size of the facility Dr. Graves mentioned that they were the medical facility for most shifter groups in the area.Once in the office Dr. Graves explained that he had been sent and
Gregory helped Aricka settle in for a nap. He promised her that he would look after Evan while she rested and that they would not be far. “Okay, Evan, I need to get work done so we need to find you something to do.” “You have lots of books in the office. Are there any on shifter history? I want to know all about us.' “Well, there aren’t any pup-friendly ones. But I may know someone that might have one or two.” Gregory pulled out his cell phone, he then scrolled through his contact list and selected a number. “Hi Joyce, yes, this is Alpha Gregory. The pup I wish to add to your schooling s
Aricka followed Gregory into the living area to find Evan scrolling through channels on a TV that was hidden within a built-in cabinet. “Oh, hi mom you look better.” “Joyce, David this is my mate, Aricka Daniels and her pup, Evan. Were you able to get the books?” “Oh, yes. Here they are. I assume Evan is the pup we are here to discuss?” Gregory motioned the two to sit as he took the books and handed them to Evan. “Yes, now he is seven almost eight years old. He has been raised by his mother here whom until a few days ago did not know of our existence. Now to complicate things Evan is an early bloomer and has not only been shif
Aricka finally got both Gregory and Evan out of the apartment and where they needed to be. It turned out that the kids hadn’t moved from where they had been playing from earlier, so Evan easily found them and returned to play with them.He even remembered to tell Michael he needed to tag along for school tomorrow too. She watched the pups as they huddled around Evan, who looked the books he’d been given and all the pups had to give him their sage advice about it all as only the young can do.With that done Aricka
Gregory led his father into the sunroom which was towards the back of the house. He remembered them eating meals out here as a pup before his mother had taken over the space claiming now that they were gone it would be wasted space. But he knew she loved the sun and airy feel of the plants. It meant even on rainy days she was warm, dry and in nature. Truthfully, Gregory has always wanted to give other rooms in the pack house a similar treatment but had never had the time to work out exactly how he would achieve this.&
