The villa was a fortress of silence, heavy with tension. Aria lay awake in Ethan’s arms, her ears tuned to every creak of the walls, every distant rustle outside. Something was coming. She could feel it in her bones.

Her chest rose and fell with shallow breaths. She dared not move, dared not disturb him—yet her body thrummed with the unmistakable hum of danger.

And then it came.

The first sound was subtle: the faint pop of a silenced weapon. One guard crumpled to the ground outside. Another muffled shout. Then silence again.

Aria stiffened. Ethan’s eyes snapped open instantly, his instincts sharp as a blade.

He sat up, dragging her with him. “Get dressed.”

“What—”

“Now.” His tone was icy, lethal. He was already pulling a gun from the bedside drawer.

Aria’s hands shook as she fumbled for a robe. Her mind spun. Nathaniel. He’s here.

Ethan pressed his back to the wall, gun angled toward the door. His voice was low, controlled. “Don’t make a sound.”

  • His Contract Mistress   The Tightening Chains

The villa felt smaller tonight. The walls seemed closer, the air heavier, as Aria sat across from Ethan at the long dining table. Candles flickered between them, throwing gold light across his sharp cheekbones. He hadn’t touched his food. His eyes were fixed on her, dark and unreadable. Finally, he spoke. “You’ve been different.”Her fork froze halfway to her lips. “Different how?”“Quieter. Restless. Like a bird testing the edges of its cage.” His mouth curved, but it wasn’t a smile—it was a warning. “Tell me, Aria. Who put that look in your eyes?”Her pulse stuttered. Does he know? She forced a steady breath. “Maybe I’m just tired, Ethan.”His gaze sharpened, cutting through her words. “You don’t get tired of me.”He rose, circling the table with slow, deliberate steps. When he reached her chair, he tilted her chin up, making her meet his stare.“Say it,” he murmured. “Tell me I’m the only one you think about.”Her throat tightened. “You’re the only one.”Ethan searched her face, as

  • His Contract Mistress   The War in Motion

Nathaniel stared at the frozen frame on his laptop. Aria’s eyes told the story he already knew—fear, desperation, but also trust.Trust in him.His fist slammed the desk, rattling the glass of whiskey beside him. “She reached out, and Ethan buried it.”His right-hand man, Marco, leaned against the doorframe. “Boss, it’s risky. Blackwood’s villa is a fortress. He’s got men, cameras, motion sensors—”“I don’t give a damn if he has an army,” Nathaniel snapped. His voice was sharp, lethal. “She’s suffocating in there. And she chose me.”Marco frowned. “Did she? Or did she just see you as a lifeline?”Nathaniel shot him a cold look. “It doesn’t matter. Ethan doesn’t get to keep her like a bird in a gilded cage. She deserves freedom—even if I have to drag her out with blood on my hands.”Across town, Aria sat at the villa’s piano, fingers grazing the ivory keys. She played softly, letting music be her only rebellion.Ethan entered silently, watching her. His expression softened, though his

  • His Contract Mistress   The Note

The villa was quiet that night, too quiet.Aria lay beside Ethan, her body pressed against his warmth, but her mind was a storm. Her pulse drummed in her ears, carrying a single question: Did the note survive? She replayed the moment again and again—the sweep of her hand, the scrap of paper tucked beneath the jeweler’s ledger, the silent plea written in her shaky hand.Help me. Villa. It was nothing, just three words. But it was everything to her.If Nathaniel saw it, he would come. She believed that with all her heart. But had it reached him? Or had Ethan already found it?Meanwhile, across the city, the jeweler flipped through his ledger while closing shop. A small scrap of paper fluttered to the ground. Curious, he bent to retrieve it.The words made his stomach tighten. He glanced toward the security camera in the corner of his shop. He knew better than to meddle with Ethan Blackwood’s business. His throat went dry.Still, he slipped the note into his vest pocket. Maybe it meant n

  • His Contract Mistress   The Cage Without Bars

The morning sun spilled golden across the villa, but the brightness only mocked Aria’s unease. She stood on the balcony, staring at the glittering sea. From here, the world looked endless—freedom stretched out in every horizon. Yet she felt more caged than ever.Behind her, the faint rustle of movement warned her before his voice came.“You didn’t sleep.”Ethan’s tone was casual, but the undertone was sharp. He joined her on the balcony, robe tied loosely at his waist.Aria wrapped her arms around herself. “I couldn’t. Too much on my mind.”His gaze lingered on her face, reading her like a book. “Dreams? Or guilt?”She flinched. He knows. He always knows.Ethan reached into his robe pocket and pulled something out. A slim black passport. He dangled it between two fingers, then tucked it into his own breast pocket with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. Her breath hitched. “Why do you have that?”“Because I realized something.” He stepped closer, trapping her against the balcony rail.

  • His Contract Mistress   The Loyalty Test

Dinner was a feast laid across a marble table: candlelight flickering against crystal glasses, the scent of roasted lamb mingling with sea salt drifting in from the terrace.Ethan sat opposite Aria, his posture perfect, his expression unreadable. He poured wine into her glass himself, his eyes fixed on her like a predator watching prey. She forced herself to smile, though the memory of the phone call still burned in her chest.“You’ve been quiet tonight,” he said at last, swirling his glass of red. “Tell me what you’re thinking.”Her fingers trembled against the stem of her glass. “I’m… overwhelmed, I suppose. This place. You. Everything.”Ethan’s lips curved faintly, but his gaze sharpened. “Overwhelmed. Not unhappy?”“Of course not.” She reached for her fork too quickly, cutting into her food without tasting it.He watched her for a long moment, then leaned back in his chair. “Do you trust me, Aria?”The question cut sharper than a knife.“Yes,” she said automatically.“Do you love
