Chapter 3

Penulis: Sunny
Less than five minutes later, Fenris's car screeched to a halt.

He leaped from the car, his face a mask of fury, and stalked straight toward me.

"Freya, you..." His gaze was fixed on the blood on my face, completely ignoring everyone else.

"Fenris..." Vanessa sobbed, tears streaming down her perfect face. "Freya was bleeding in front of me, and I got so scared... The elders say it's a bad omen for a pregnant she-wolf to see blood... I'm worried about our baby..."

Only then did he seem to remember Vanessa was there. He whirled on me and struck me across the face.

The sharp crack of the slap echoed through the garden.

My cheek burned, and I tasted blood in my mouth.

"You knew she was pregnant, and you chose to bleed all over her?" He seized my chin, his grip tight enough to shatter bone. "Were you trying to curse my child?"

"I couldn't control—"

"Couldn't control it?" he sneered. "You Silver Crest wolves are all the same. You've played the victim for so long you've forgotten who you really are!"

I tried to explain, but Fenris was done listening. He crouched down, his fingers digging into my jaw. "You had better behave yourself," he hissed. "Don't forget about the gravestone in the back garden."

My heart skipped a beat.

That was the memorial for our dead child. His child, too.

How could he…

"If anything happens to Vanessa or this baby," Fenris whispered in my ear, his voice a demonic murmur, "I will smash that stone to dust with my own hands and curse the memory of your bloodline for eternity."

I knew he hated me, but I never imagined he could be so cruel, even to the memory of our own child.

"Please!"

Rain mixed with tears, streaming down my face. I knelt at the entrance of Fenris's villa, soaked to the bone.

"Don't destroy the gravestone, I'm begging you!"

Fenris stood under the portico, his suit immaculate, his eyes showing no hint of emotion.

"Then give me a reason not to," he said, his voice as cold as the autumn rain.

"That was our child!" I screamed. "That was your blood, too!"

"My child?" Fenris scoffed. "That thing was the bastard of a Silver Crest. You think a whelp like that ever deserved to be my heir?"

Every word was a knife in my heart.

"I'll be good," I said, my voice trembling. "I'll do anything you say. Just please, don't destroy it."

"Freya!" Vanessa's voice, dripping with false concern, called from inside. "What are you doing? Come inside, you'll catch a cold!"

She emerged wearing one of Fenris's black shirts, her slightly swollen belly on display.

"Fenris, let Freya come in," Vanessa said, linking her arm with his. "A pregnant wolf needs a peaceful environment, but I can't bear to see her like this."

She had deceived everyone with her endless, saccharine lies, making them all believe she was the one who had saved Fenris, and I was the mastermind behind the attack.

"It's fine," Fenris said without looking at me. "Let her kneel."

"But—"

"I said, let her kneel!" His Alpha authority flared, and Vanessa immediately fell silent.

The rain fell harder. I knelt on the stone steps, feeling the life drain out of me. Chilled by the rain, the Silverthorn Toxin in my body grew more active, and my chest felt like it was being shredded by a thousand knives.

"Is this enough?" I looked up at Fenris. "I'm already like this. What more do you want?"

"Like this?" He didn't go inside. Instead, he stood beside me, letting the rain soak his hair and face. "This is nothing. What your Silver Crest pack did to us was ten thousand times crueler than this."

I finally lost my strength and pitched forward. My forehead struck the stone step with a sickening thud, and blood gushed from the wound.

The loud impact drew everyone's attention. Fenris's brow furrowed, and a sudden, sharp pain in his chest made him break out in a cold sweat. Freya was bleeding too much—an abnormal amount. A sense of unease crept over him.

"Get the doctor. Now," he ordered Marcus.

Ten minutes later, a middle-aged man rushed in.

"Dr. Anderson!" Vanessa was the first to greet him. "Quick, check on Freya. She fell very hard."

Anderson knelt, examined my wound, and then stood up.

"Alpha, the wound on her forehead is superficial," he said, glancing at Vanessa. "But the amount of blood is… unusual for such a small cut. And the angle and force of the impact are consistent with a self-inflicted wound."

"On purpose?" Fenris's eyes turned to ice again.

"Yes," Anderson nodded. "The angle and force of the impact are consistent with a self-inflicted wound."

I instinctively tried to explain, but my voice was too hoarse to make a sound. It didn't matter. I was going to die in a day anyway. Nothing I said would change a thing.

"Enough." Fenris turned and went inside. "Let her continue kneeling."

"Fenris—" I called after him with the last of my strength.

He paused but didn't turn back.

"If you're so determined to destroy that gravestone," I whispered, my voice barely audible, "then do it after I'm dead."

It wouldn't be long now.

The door slammed shut, leaving me abandoned in the rainy night. My body temperature dropped, and my consciousness began to fade.

  • His Cure, My Poison   Chapter 13

Time trickled by, each second an eternity. My vision grew blurrier, the world distorting before my eyes.My breathing grew weaker, the rise and fall of my chest nearly ceasing. The warmth was leaving my body, like a dying fire in winter, leaving only cold ash.I could feel my life force slipping away, starting from my fingertips.First my fingers, then my hands, then my arms…Like a receding tide, pulling me out into the deep. The distant gunfire faded, the explosions fell silent.Either Fenris had won, or he was dead. But it no longer mattered to me.Whatever the outcome, I wouldn't be there to see it.I closed my eyes, waiting for the final moment. An image of our childhood flickered in my mind. The Fenris who would pick wildflowers for me, who would lift me high into the air to pick the sweetest fruit from the trees. The Fenris who would hold me tight when I was scared and promise that no one would ever hurt me.Back then, we both thought fate would be kind to those who loved each o

"Finn…" Fenris repeated the name, his voice so choked it was nearly inaudible. "Our son…"His tears fell onto the back of my hand, each one scalding hot.The once-ruthless Alpha was now as fragile as a child. His phone began to vibrate again, the buzzing a harsh intrusion in the quiet room."Alpha! It's an emergency!" His Beta's voice was desperate and panicked. "The rogue alliance has breached the eastern defenses! Buildings are burning! Civilians are fleeing!""They're demanding your immediate surrender, or they'll slaughter everyone in the city! Alpha, our losses are catastrophic!""And the West Coast division—the shareholders have already voted you out! The banks have frozen all our accounts!"The call was filled not just with a voice, but with the roar of explosions, the cries of children, the screams of women. It was the sound of an empire collapsing.Fenris gripped the phone, the veins on the back of his hand bulging as his entire body shook. He looked at me, then at the phone w

"Not mine?" Fenris practically leaped out of his chair. The witch let out a soft laugh that sounded jarring in the quiet room."The child's father is her pack's Beta, Marcus," she paused, a malicious glint in her eye. "The Red Fang pack is known for inbreeding to keep their bloodline 'pure.'"I watched as Fenris's face went from pale to ashen, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles were white. The rage and humiliation of being deceived were written all over his face. But I felt nothing. I almost wanted to laugh."She was deceiving you from the very beginning," the witch continued, her voice dripping with cruel delight. "Using your guilt and gratitude to make you her family's shield.""For ten years, you not only helped them eliminate their true rivals, you protected the real murderers.""You are an absolute, unmitigated fool."Fenris's Alpha aura exploded, and the temperature in the room plummeted. The murderous gold of his wolf flared in his eyes, his inner wolf on the verge of go

The faint light of the moonstone pendant flickered in the room, as if responding to something.I felt a familiar warmth spread from my chest, an emotional wave from the broken mate bond.Regret, guilt, despair… and love.An overwhelming tide of love.My eyelids began to flutter."Freya… please, open your eyes…"A hazy voice, choked with tears, drifted from far away.I slowly opened my eyes, squinting against the bright sunlight. This wasn't that cold room.Floor-to-ceiling windows, warm-toned decor, soft bedding… a warmth I had never known.Fenris was sitting in a chair by the bed, his hands clutching mine as if it were the most precious thing in the world. He looked terrible. His eyes were shot with blood in their sunken sockets, his jaw was covered in stubble, and his once-perfect suit was hopelessly wrinkled."Freya…" he murmured my name in his sleep, his voice trembling and broken. That was the name he had called me when he was fifteen.I studied his exhausted face, my heart a sile

"What do you mean, voluntarily?" Fenris's voice trembled. He couldn't begin to comprehend it.The witch paced slowly around the bed, each footstep like a death knell on his heart."Do you truly not remember?" she stopped, looking directly into his eyes. "That night, ten years ago?"The color drained from Fenris's face.Ten years ago…It was the darkest night of his life. The Black Moon pack had been slaughtered, and he was gravely wounded, lying in a pool of his own blood, waiting for death."Someone saved me…" he murmured. "It was Vanessa. She risked everything to save me…""Fool!" the witch sneered. "Did you ever once stop to think how a teenage girl, with no ties to your pack, could have single-handedly stormed an enemy camp to save you?"Fenris froze. He grasped at the fractured memories of that night.A flash of silver light... a gentle touch... and a voice whispering in his ear, "Live... please, live..."That voice…He desperately tried to piece together the events of that night,

"Tell me!" Fenris roared, his voice as raw as a beast's. "I need to know everything!"The witch slowly nodded, her dark eyes seeming to pierce his very soul."It is because of you. All of this is because of you.""The Silverthorn in her veins is a magical toxin of absolute coldness."Her voice was like an echo from the depths of hell, each word a spike of ice driving into Fenris's heart."It is the antithesis of your Alpha power, which burns with the fire of life itself."Fenris froze, his mind wiped clean."What do you mean?"The witch walked to the bed, looking at Freya's ashen face."Every time you get near her, every time you feel a strong emotion toward her, your power acts as a catalyst for the poison."She turned, pinning him with her ancient, cold gaze."Intensifying her agony a thousand times over.""You, Alpha, are the poison."Fenris's face went deathly pale. His knees buckled, and he nearly collapsed. No… that's not possible…The images flooded his mind. The pained look on
