LOGINWhen our two packs were at war, I secretly injected myself with the deadly Silverthorn Toxin to save my Alpha mate. But when he woke, Fenris hailed another she-wolf, Vanessa, as his savior, and condemned me as his enemy. "Freya, you are here to repay a blood debt. Your Silver Crest pack owes me the lives of my entire pack." He obliterated the last remnants of my family in this city. He imprisoned me on his private territory, tormenting me daily, his Alpha presence a constant, crushing weight. He dressed Vanessa in the Luna's gown and announced that she was carrying his child. And to everyone else, I was nothing more than a canary in his gilded cage. The tearing agony of our rejected mate bond was more lethal than any torture. He gripped my jaw, forcing me to watch as the landmarks my family had built were torn down, one by one. "Did you really think one mating ceremony could wash away the ocean of blood between us?" he sneered, his eyes devoid of any warmth. "You slaughtered my people. Do you think sending just one of you could ever atone for that sin?" Every time I tried to end my own life, he would dig up the bones of one of my kin from their graves and grind them to dust right in front of me. "I told you, you don't get to die without my permission." I stopped struggling. Let him hate me. After all, I only had three days left until the Silverthorn Toxin in my veins ran its course.

The sound of the elevator dinged upon the extremely quiet top floor of the building causing the heart of the lean and five feet tall young girl that was standing by the receptionist's desk to jump.
‘He is here,’ was the thought running through her mind as she scrambled to stand behind her desk to wait for the elevator door to open and the man to exit.
It has only been a year since the man had taken over the CEO position and a lot of employees were terminated along with new ones arriving. She needed that job and since the first secretary was fired she was trying to keep herself on her p’s and q’s at all times.
She was also hoping that she could get a position as one of the secretaries as soon as the vacancy opened. She also wished that the young CEO would take a look at her and maybe have some interest in her as she had in him.
The door opened and out walked a man with long legs which clearly showed his height of six feet and eleven inches. She looked at his golden blonde hair which was neatly combed, his ocean blue eyes that could clearly drown anyone in its depths if they looked at it too long, and his pink lips that would put any woman’s lips at shame.
Anyone that clearly looked at him could clearly see that he was of mixed race, a little Chinese which could be told from the way his eyes were and the lightly tanned color skin complexion but otherwise he would pass as a British descendant of the royal family. The way he looked and walked was just how a model would and the way he stepped out of the elevator was like he stepped out of the cover of Vogue magazine.
“Good morning sir,” the receptionist said as she bowed her head, the man passed her straight without even taking a single look at her directing with both hands in his pockets. He really didn’t have time to look at this young woman that was barely twenty-five years and a human at it as well.
He continued down the corridor and looked at the empty department on the right that was meant for his personal secretaries, but they were all his father’s people and they were secretly informing his father of everything he did in the company. He didn’t want his father to dictate how he ran the company as his father had been slowly destroying the company over the years after taking it from his father and Lee’s grandfather.
He then approached the department that was previously designed for three personal assistants but now he had it renovated and made for only two. ‘What is the use of having three when two can do the work fine,’ he thought, finally arriving at the only cubicle that was occupied by his one and only personal assistant.
It had been twenty years prior that he saved this man’s life in an accident and since then, this man had been loyal to him. He evenly worked his way up from just being a warrior to his right-hand man and the second in command.
The man seemed nervous while holding a while postcard envelope in his hand and open seeing his boss he said, “Boss another one of those.”
“Follow me,” Lee said before unlocking his office door and entering. The man followed him inside and then Lee locked the door and pressed the button to the side of the door to censor any information that can be intercepted.
Ever since he took over the position of CEO for the past year he had made a lot of changes, the first started with his office and then the staff members. His grandfather had only given him five years to prove that he could be a better CEO than his father, it was just a trial period but he planned to use that trial period to make a lot of changes and to secure his position and the Alpha King for life.
Lee walked straight to his mahogany desk that was near the glass wall which would allow him to get a good view of the city, he sat down in his chair before putting on his desktop computer and looking at his personal assistant.
“Hand it to me,” he finally said and stretched out his hand, he watched as Michael stretched out both hands with the postcard envelope resting on both of them as though it was something delicate and fragile.
Lee took it and turn it over, there he saw it, the pink wax-like seal that only his blood can unseal. He had been secretly receiving these envelopes for the past two years, the first was for him to secretly follow his father and observe him. He remembered being hesitant back then but he was glad he then, it was then he found out that his father had been secretly poisoning him and his grandfather.
Lee raised his left index finger to his lips and bit it, then let the single drop fall on the seal before then licking the wound for it to heal. The seal opened, and he pulled out the contents from inside the envelope only to see it was a single cue card. It was blank, but after flipping it five times back and forth, the words finally appeared.
‘Mate – Anna Fortune
Birthday – Nineteenth JuneAge – Presently seventeenAddress – Unforgotten Orphanage, CedrosCountry – Trinidad, Caribbean, West Indies’“What is it, sir?” Michael asked.
“It’s just like the others. This person is so cryptic and mysterious,” Lee said as he frowned and dropped the cue card on the desk.
Michael quickly picked up the cue card, he believed that it must be of importance just like the others that came over the past year which helped them to get rid of some of the enemies’ people.
“Could it really be your mate?” Michael asked.
“Not possible. I don’t have a mate,” Lee quickly said.
“What if it is true?” Michael was determined to see if it was true.
“My mate is dead. She was dead from the day she was born,” Lee said. He was sure that she was indeed dead. He remembered almost eighteen years ago he felt his mate born, he could remember that he felt that pull to find her but just before he could even fully get dressed he suddenly felt the loss of his mate.
Time trickled by, each second an eternity. My vision grew blurrier, the world distorting before my eyes.My breathing grew weaker, the rise and fall of my chest nearly ceasing. The warmth was leaving my body, like a dying fire in winter, leaving only cold ash.I could feel my life force slipping away, starting from my fingertips.First my fingers, then my hands, then my arms…Like a receding tide, pulling me out into the deep. The distant gunfire faded, the explosions fell silent.Either Fenris had won, or he was dead. But it no longer mattered to me.Whatever the outcome, I wouldn't be there to see it.I closed my eyes, waiting for the final moment. An image of our childhood flickered in my mind. The Fenris who would pick wildflowers for me, who would lift me high into the air to pick the sweetest fruit from the trees. The Fenris who would hold me tight when I was scared and promise that no one would ever hurt me.Back then, we both thought fate would be kind to those who loved each o
"Finn…" Fenris repeated the name, his voice so choked it was nearly inaudible. "Our son…"His tears fell onto the back of my hand, each one scalding hot.The once-ruthless Alpha was now as fragile as a child. His phone began to vibrate again, the buzzing a harsh intrusion in the quiet room."Alpha! It's an emergency!" His Beta's voice was desperate and panicked. "The rogue alliance has breached the eastern defenses! Buildings are burning! Civilians are fleeing!""They're demanding your immediate surrender, or they'll slaughter everyone in the city! Alpha, our losses are catastrophic!""And the West Coast division—the shareholders have already voted you out! The banks have frozen all our accounts!"The call was filled not just with a voice, but with the roar of explosions, the cries of children, the screams of women. It was the sound of an empire collapsing.Fenris gripped the phone, the veins on the back of his hand bulging as his entire body shook. He looked at me, then at the phone w
"Not mine?" Fenris practically leaped out of his chair. The witch let out a soft laugh that sounded jarring in the quiet room."The child's father is her pack's Beta, Marcus," she paused, a malicious glint in her eye. "The Red Fang pack is known for inbreeding to keep their bloodline 'pure.'"I watched as Fenris's face went from pale to ashen, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles were white. The rage and humiliation of being deceived were written all over his face. But I felt nothing. I almost wanted to laugh."She was deceiving you from the very beginning," the witch continued, her voice dripping with cruel delight. "Using your guilt and gratitude to make you her family's shield.""For ten years, you not only helped them eliminate their true rivals, you protected the real murderers.""You are an absolute, unmitigated fool."Fenris's Alpha aura exploded, and the temperature in the room plummeted. The murderous gold of his wolf flared in his eyes, his inner wolf on the verge of go
The faint light of the moonstone pendant flickered in the room, as if responding to something.I felt a familiar warmth spread from my chest, an emotional wave from the broken mate bond.Regret, guilt, despair… and love.An overwhelming tide of love.My eyelids began to flutter."Freya… please, open your eyes…"A hazy voice, choked with tears, drifted from far away.I slowly opened my eyes, squinting against the bright sunlight. This wasn't that cold room.Floor-to-ceiling windows, warm-toned decor, soft bedding… a warmth I had never known.Fenris was sitting in a chair by the bed, his hands clutching mine as if it were the most precious thing in the world. He looked terrible. His eyes were shot with blood in their sunken sockets, his jaw was covered in stubble, and his once-perfect suit was hopelessly wrinkled."Freya…" he murmured my name in his sleep, his voice trembling and broken. That was the name he had called me when he was fifteen.I studied his exhausted face, my heart a sile
