Chapter 2

NYX'S Pov

Adrien slowly shoved Sera off himself as he stood up, barely covering himself with the throw pillow.

"You are home early," his voice filled with disdain.

He didn't even bother to be remorseful, he wore the largest smirk I had ever seen. My hands clenched into fists as I could feel my blood boiling. 

I darted my eyes to Sera, who sat on the couch, still naked with her head bowed but I could see the smile she wore on her lips.

My chest tightened, my heart beating faster. "What... What is this?" I questioned, my voice came out shaky.

Adrien wore his pants, totally ignoring my question. 

“Adrien!” I screamed, my hands trembling, nails digging into my palms. “Explain this!”

He finally looked at me, slowly like he was savoring my reaction as the smirk didn’t leave his face. “Explain what, exactly?” he asked, voice cold.

I felt heat rise in my chest. “You… you’re… with her!” I stuttered. My stomach twisted, my legs weak. “How… how could you?”

“I’m sorry,” Sera said softly, almost mockingly. “Didn’t mean to ruin your day, Luna.” Her smugness oozed from the words.

My hands were shaking. I wanted to run at them, to hit, to break something. The anger burned in me so sharply it hurt my teeth, and my lungs ached as I struggled to breathe.

"Adrien---"

"This is real, Nyx." He dragged a hand over his hair. "What we have has run its course..." He straightened. "No need to pretend anymore."

My heart stopped beating for a moment, panic washing over me. "What... What do you mean?"

He moved to pick up a folder from the table and without hesitation, he tossed it toward me. It landed just in front of me, I looked down and I took in a loud gasp. I could hear a laugh tearing out of Sera.

"What... What is this?" I swallowed hard.

"Come on, Nyx. Don't tell me you suddenly lost your ability to read..." He said, smiling at Sera. She returned the smile as if they’d practiced this whole thing.

For twenty years... I had given this man twenty years of my life and this was how he wanted to dispose of me?

Adrien’s smirk stayed in place, like he owned my shock. “Open it, Nyx. I don’t have all day.”

My hands were still trembling from either pain or rage, I could not name at this point. "No, Adrien. You cannot dispose of me this way." 

"Well, I could easily frame you for everything and no one would believe you." He walked closer. "Doing this now is me being generous..." He chuckled. "And you should be grateful to Sera, cause this was her idea," he spat out. "My idea was more brutal."

"What..." The words got stuck in my throat as I flew my hand to my stomach. 

"Surprised you didn't see how much I had resented you, Nyx," Adrien added casually.

Sera’s smirk widened, and it felt like knives were carving into my ribs. She wasn’t even hiding it— she was enjoying this. I could feel my teeth grinding.

I opened my mouth to speak, to scream, but my voice caught in my throat. My hands shook, fingers clutching the papers like they could anchor me to reality.

“You…” I tried again. "You’re… you’re cruel!” I raised my hands but instead of hitting, I let them hang in the air for a while before dropping them. "I gave you everything---"

"Everything?" Adrien scoffed. "I never asked you to do that, did I?" He chuckled. "And no, you did not give me everything." 

My stomach twisted, bile rising. "I gave you everything! My time, my body, my money!" The words vibrated through my body.  "I… I sold the house I inherited just to save your pathetic life! And you throw me away like I’m nothing?”

He moved closer, stepping over my words, over my emotions, like I was nothing important. “You were useful. No one wanted to be with an alpha like me but you did because you were desperate.” He smirked. "No one wanted a wolf less mate but you were like gum stuck to me. I thought I could tolerate you and you would just be good for breeding but you failed in that area too." He cradled his jaw. "All your womb was good for was to breed dead pups."

He turned to Sera, who stood up and walked up to where he was standing, her hand cradling her stomach. 

"Sera is giving me everything you could not give me," he added.

My eyes widened as they fell on Sera. "The father of---" 

"Yes, Luna." She giggled. "The father is your husband."

My feet wobbled but I held the arm of the chair that sat beside me, my vision blurred with tears. My heart shattered into multiple pieces.

Sera wasn't just my lady-in-waiting, she was like the daughter I never had. She was amongst the few who could read as I taught her to be better. When she told me she had been pregnant, I was overjoyed even though she had said a beta was responsible.

I had given her the best care. But here she was betraying me with the other person who was supposed to have held me down.

"Sera..." I lunged at her but Adrien was quick to block me as he pushed me back. I staggered, barely escaping the wall.

"Do not touch her!" He yelled.

I winced from the pain, my hand going to my stomach. The tears I had been holding finally found their way out forcing me to look at the two of them then down to my stomach.

I had not told Adrien that I was pregnant as I wanted to be way into the trimester before telling him but now, I was grateful that I had not told him. Most especially now with the mistake. 

"Do you want her to be as barren as you?" Adrien questioned. "Sign the divorce papers or... Don't. It doesn't change anything." 

"Luna..." Sera called out but she stopped and giggled. "I guess you do not deserve that title anymore, seeing that I will be the new Luna." She turned to Adrien. "She has ruined my mood, alpha."

"Guards!" Adrien called. 

Right on cue, two gammas came in holding their spears, eyes blazing red hot. 

"Alpha?" They both said in unison.

Adrien didn't say a word, he just motioned for me to be taken out and without hesitation, I was dragged out.

Outside, the cool breeze hit my skin as I was dropped on the porch. I cradled my stomach, slowly.

"I guess I still got you," I whispered. "I am going to take care of you.”
