NYX'S PovAdrien slowly shoved Sera off himself as he stood up, barely covering himself with the throw pillow."You are home early," his voice filled with disdain. He didn't even bother to be remorseful, he wore the largest smirk I had ever seen. My hands clenched into fists as I could feel my blood boiling. I darted my eyes to Sera, who sat on the couch, still naked with her head bowed but I could see the smile she wore on her lips.My chest tightened, my heart beating faster. "What... What is this?" I questioned, my voice came out shaky.Adrien wore his pants, totally ignoring my question. “Adrien!” I screamed, my hands trembling, nails digging into my palms. “Explain this!”He finally looked at me, slowly like he was savoring my reaction as the smirk didn’t leave his face. “Explain what, exactly?” he asked, voice cold.I felt heat rise in my chest. “You… you’re… with her!” I stuttered. My stomach twisted, my legs weak. “How… how could you?”“I’m sorry,” Sera said softly, almost m

Nyx's povI stood outside the diner finding it hard to go in.I could see how busy everyone was, from the customers and waitresses and my heart skipped a beat when I saw her-- Rhea. She still looked the same as she did the last time I had seen her. It had been three years, three years of no contact and here I was shamelessly looking for her. I silently prayed that she hadn't forgotten about me or worse-- still hated me.I tried to move when I heard the door open. Without hesitation I turned, I wasn't ready to meet her or what I was going to tell her."Nyx?" A voice called out.I held myself from turning as I tried to move but I could hear footsteps from behind matching my pace."Nyx Jackson!" The voice called out again followed by a chuckle. "Turn around, Luna."I took in a deep breath, with my eyes shut I slowly turned. When I opened them, Rhea was standing in front of me, a cigarette dangling from her fingers, smoke curling around her face."He... Hello, Rhea," I said, my voice wasn

Crux's PovThe meeting was a blur. I could barely understand anything that was being said. My mind was having its own fucking party as I tapped my hand on the table to the rhythm of my heart.I checked my watch and apparently, the time wasn't moving any faster. Heat rose over my body... "Get a grip on yourself, Crux!" Aethros warned, as if he had not been pacing earlier."I am losing my shit," I muttered. The faint sound of the elevator caught my ears."Alpha--," Reyes called through the mind-link.Without hesitation, I banged my hand on the table, attracting the attention of the workers."Meeting's over," I commanded as I stood up to leave.I had barely gotten into my office when Reyes dropped a file on my desk. He pressed his palm against his forehead, fingers digging into his hair, eyes narrowing as his jaw tightened.I knew that look all too well. "Hit me with whatever it is, Reyes.""Alpha--" he swallowed hard."Just say it," I stated, slumping into my chair as I braced myself f

Crux’s Pov Her scent lingered in the air, longer than it should have. It clung to the room. Even now, with the door closed and her gone, it pressed against my senses like she had never left. I stood where she had left me, taking in a slow breath before letting it out. Something about her had gotten under my skin and that had never happened before. "Breathe her in," Aethros said, sounding far too satisfied. His weight rested heavily against my chest, calmer than he had been in years. I reached up and loosened my tie, trying to shake the strange feeling crawling beneath my skin. “Something’s wrong,” I muttered. “With you,” he corrected. I frowned but he wasn't wrong. Nothing about today made sense. First, I learned I had somehow fathered a pup after years of believing I couldn't. Then the woman carrying that pup walked into my office on her own and instead of demanding money, protection, or a place beside me, she wanted me to disappear from the child's life. Who does

Nyx’s Pov “Rhea!” I cried out. “Stay where you are, Nyx!” Rhea blurted out. She tried to push herself to her feet, but a gasp escaped her lips. Her knees gave out, and she collapsed back to the floor, her chest rising and falling heavily as one hand clutched her side. Dark, thick blood oozed through her fingers, staining her clothes. I felt my heart drop into my stomach. “Rhea…” I tried to move toward her, but a hand grabbed my shoulder, dragging me backward. “Not so fast, little bird,” a dark voice growled in my ear. “Get off her!” Rhea hissed from the floor, clutching her bleeding side as she tried in vain to raise a hand toward him. She let out a harsh, wet cough. “I can’t… I can’t stop the bleeding. They cut me with wolfsbane…” Panic crashed into me so hard it became difficult to breathe. In a burst of pure instinct, I locked my hands over my stomach to protect my baby, threw my weight backward, and slammed the back of my head directly into the man’s face. A sickening crunc
