Mag-log inKIKI POV
I was having my first meal for the day. The new phone vibrated on the counter. At first I thought it was not an important notification since I had set up my iCloud. Jordan thought he was smart, demanding money back? Humor me please. I was in a relationship, not a marriage. I wasn’t even a gold digger who was only there for his money, he wasn’t even rich to say the least. To hell with him, I just had to figure out my life, settle into the city and start my intern role. The phone vibrated again for the seventh time, I smacked my lips and checked who was blowing up my phone. : Legal Notice: Miss Oliver sued for $30,000 damages by Mr Jordan Yomi “What?” I exclaimed “This better not be a real court order but one of Jordan’s AI pictures trick,” I wasn’t done reading the document when my phone began to ring. “You got the email didn’t you?” Jordan chuckled at the other end of the phone “You think this is in any way funny?” “Yes, you are a fat joke who owes me a lot of money,” “How am I owing you that much amount of money… you didn’t even spend to that amount when we were together—” “That’s on you Kiki, since you want a break up, I need you to pay me all my money or you wouldn’t like my next form of action,” Jordan spat before hanging up the call My stomach tightened, what kind of manipulative son of bitch had I been dating for the last two years. I swallowed the lump in my throat, $30,000 dollars? It wasn’t even up to the amount of money Jordan had given me in his entire existence, he was just being wicked at this point. The food stared back at me, I had no appetite anymore. My only crime was loving a man. A man who had body shamed me throughout all the years we were together, made it seem as if he was doing me a favour by being with me. Relationship my ass, I’m done. Done with Jordan, done with men. I could ask Harry for the money, but he would go on with his big brother rant of how he warned me about Jordan. My internship pay won’t cut it, I needed a proper job and there were certainly no entry-level jobs that would pay me enough but just maybe if there were connections I would get promoted quickly. I picked up my phone. “Hey Harry, I changed my mind.” “That was quick,” Harry responded. “What happened to the independent girl who wanted to climb up the corporate ladder herself?” She was in a huge debt, sued by her ex and would do anything to get back at him. “I…I just had a change of mind,” I responded “Good. Get ready I will pick you up in the morning, you start work in the morning,” “Wait, no interview?” I asked “Because I am your big brother, you get preferential treatment. It’s my best friend Nathan’s company,” Harry responded Oh Nathan, there was nothing to worry about then. *** The next day I was dressed in a corporate polka dot skirt, and white blazers. My hair was styled neatly and I had spent time on my make up, first impressions mattered. I got into Harry’s car and he just scanned me like always. “You should be mindful of your dresses, these nine to five men are vipers looking to be under any skirt,” “Jordan and I are still together” I buckled the seat belt so he could drop the topic. “That isn’t even good. You could be with your little boyfriend and still get advances from men my age,” If only he knew the little boyfriend he was referring to was starting to grow wings. “I will be focused on my job, Harry” I responded, turning to look at my brother “I promise,” I added to soothe his insecurities a little. We drove in silence to the company and when we arrived, Harry didn’t have to knock at the door labeled CEO. He just flanked it and opened like it was his bedroom. Harry and I walked in together. Immediately the man tilted his head up from the paper in front of him, his face lit up with a smile, he rose to his feet and he set down the telephone. “Harry! The man himself,” the man chuckled, he was wearing a blue suit, a well knotted tie and his wrist watch alone screamed his financial status. Not only was his face familiar but his voice… Oh dear lord, Terry? I really hoped the ground would open so I hid there. Terry and my brother shook hands and hugged, the normal way guys greeted except it wasn’t normal to me I just stood there. Should I smile, should I run away? Wait, was Terry my brother’s best friend? “Kiki this is my best friend I have been telling you about,” Harry beamed a smile to me Yes I heard a lot about Nathan but we never actually met. I think I slept with my brother’s friend, think? Come on, be for real, that night actually happened and he lied about his name. “She looks pretty,” Nathan complimented “Just like me,,” Harry grinned “Don’t think about it, she is eleven years younger than you,” They both bursted into laughter, like an inside joke they understood. Two grown men acting like kids, but Terry was actually doing a great job pretending, I couldn’t even breathe properly What if my brother found out about that night, Harry would kill me. “Nathan, this is my sister,” Harry gestured to me. I exhaled like it was the first time breathing since I got there. Nathan, Terry whatever his name was, smiled at me “Nice to meet you again Kiki.“ Again? I forgot how to breathe “Wait, you both have met before?” Harry asked Nathan was about to speak but I beat him to it “No—” I watched his smile disappear to something icy, he turned to Harry “So she is the one for the job position?” “Yes, fresh out of college. Has the skills set, and ready to work,” I dropped my file on the desk and Nathan sat on his chair, glancing through my file then he looked up “Well, this is not enough,” Did he just call my whole college degree not enough? “What do you mean Nathan?” Harry asked like it wasn’t what they had planned. “I know she is your sister, but she has to start at the entry role. I don’t want incompetent people in my company, it’s company policy.” Oh he really wanted to come at me with that crap, wasn’t he the CEO? Harry gave me a look. This was not what he wanted for me but that was the best option on the table. Minutes later, Nathan's secretary smiled at me as I followed her so she could show me my office. I heard Harry lower his voice, “Nathan, keep my sister safe. Don’t let these corporate vipers sleep with her. She is like a little sister to you too,” Harry had always been protective of me ever since I hit purberty and started to grow boobs larger than my mates. “I would Harry,” My jaw dropped, when I reached my small cubicle office. It was so small that I had to squeeze myself into the seat. The office would have been okay for any other person but me? I was plus size for God’ sake, they should have put that into consideration at least? I read the clause of my employment. Entry level salary, shit. Not what I was expecting. The memory of Nathan’s lip resurfaced, I tightened my eyes to get rid of it. He wanted to spite me, he was the CEO. Didn’t he have the authority to appoint whoever, whenever he wanted? He had the guts to lie to me about being a call boy and even gave me a fake name. Now he was all smiling as my brother’s best friend and my new boss. Nathan, Terry, whatever he called himself, he wanted to act, well I would give him a good show.KIKI POV “Shit. Kiki your eyes are swollen. Why are you crying?” Harry eyes fixed on. I swallowed hard. Hell, I couldn’t tell him it was because of Nathan. “It’s Jordan…” The lie tasted like ash in my mouth. “That son of a bitch,” my brother cursed. “What did he do to you?” “We… we broke up,” I sobbed, cleaning my tears. “That is great news, Kiki.” My brother brushed his hand against mine, trying to comfort me. “I know you never liked Jordan, but… I should have listened to you. He cheated on me.” I cried harder despite the fact it was old hurt, one I had moved past months ago. “So Jordan cheated?” I watched my brother clench his teeth. “No wonder he came to my office saying lies about you and Nathan. Now that you two are not together, you can meet other cool guys.” My brother’s lips kicked up. I tried to smile too, but all I managed was a nod. “I am glad Nathan is getting married. At least I don’t have to worry that what Jordan said was true.” Harry’s words hurt

NATHAN POV“Pink means stop, Nathan.”I gulped down my fifth glass of the evening, Kiki’s voice echoing in my mind.So life could really be unpredictable. Years at Stanford studying economics had trained me to predict numbers and how to run a business. But not only was my business going bankrupt, it was also at the mercy of the Sherlocks.Years of hating my parents’ marriage had made me believe I was incapable of loving a woman. I swear I hadn’t seen Kiki Oliver coming. I hadn’t expected her to make me feel things that I shouldn’t.I gulped down the eighth glass. I should have been at the club, but for weeks, being with Kiki had made going to the club seem pointless. On my desk were copies of the Sherlock contract, scattered everywhere.I had gone through them over and over again. I needed to find something that could get me out of the marriage with Fiona, but nothing. There had to be fucking something.“Fuck!” I picked up my glass and threw it against the wall. It shattered into piec
KIKI POV “Don’t touch me,” I glared at Nathan. Such guts he had to think everything could suddenly go away with an explanation or a touch. He was getting married, for fuck’s sake! And he never told me! I still couldn’t wrap my head around why he had been using me when he had known for months that he would be getting married to Fiona. Nathan paced towards the window, exhaled then started. “It might not look like it but this company is going bankrupt,” he started. “I am doing where that I can to handle it…” He shrugged, looking out the window. What the fuck did any of what he said have to do with him marrying Fiona? “My family has been in partnership with the Sherlocks, and there was a clause that bonded our families together through marriage.” I didn’t bloody care about any other explanation, fine it was family business but why the fuck did he ask me to be his girlfriend? “All I need to know is why? Why did you lead me on. Why you sold me a lie? Was I so easy to fool?
NATHAN POV The whole floor was clapping. Fiona and my father were smiling for the cameras. I had found out about the whole arrangement in the main lobby only fifteen minutes ago. A fucking public show to announce the wedding. My father had made it clear that not showing would up have consequences. That was reason why the venue was in the company’s lobby so I had no other choice but to be there because everything had already been put in place. All I had to do was show up, smile and pretend. The cameras were pointed at me and the employees were waiting for my reaction as I got on the stage with Fiona. “Congratulations, Mr Nathan and Miss Fiona!” someone from the crowd shouted. Fiona tightened her grip on my hand. “You have to smile, Nathan,” she whispered and I forced myself. “Thank you on behalf of my fiancé and me,” she announced to the crowd. Fiona started her speech about our upcoming wedding. I wanted to walk off the stage but that would only create a bigger proble
KIKI POV “Who is she?” I had asked. Mrs. Montgomery gave me a bemused look. “You don’t know?” “Know about what?” There was something else she wanted me to guess, but she expected me to put two and two together. Hell, I had no clue. “Fiona,” she said. “Nathan and Fiona are getting married.” My chest tightened. I… I probably hadn’t heard her correctly. “In three weeks,” Mrs. Montgomery added. I swallowed, staring at her as though she was trying to pull a prank on me just to see how much I loved her son. “I’m sorry…” she whimpered. “Remember what I told you?” she asked. I nodded softly, she had said I shouldn’t let Nathan marry “her” but it wasn’t my decision to make. When I entered Nathan office holding a tray of drinks for him and his father, I caught a glint of guilt in his eyes. He knew damn well he was getting married to his best friend. Scrap that. Best friend? If that was even true. He fucking lied to me. Just best friends? I should have known. “I was about to leave,
