LOGINChapter 3
Jane's POV
I still found it hard to believe any of this. This strange man before me claimed to know me yet I was very certain that I had never seen him in my life.
"I am not Lucia! You're mistaking me for someone else!" I told him but he insisted otherwise.
I lost my calm as well as my fear and started throwing a tantrum. I told him I wouldn't let him keep me here. He aught to let me go if he knew what was best for him he still insisted I needed to rest from my journey and that he would see me later.
As he stepped out of the room, I hear him locking the door.
I didn't know what to do. I was so frustrated and couldn't believe any of it. I had thought my day was going bad enough when I was going to marry Fernando. But now I was kidnapped by someone who thinks I'm his girl?... wife?
After wasting all of my energy on hitting the door and yelling for my freedom, I got tired and returned to my bed, sitting with my head in my hands when suddenly the door creaks open.
I spring up only to see a lady walking in. Her stilettos made a loud noise on the floor and she switched on the light so that I could now see properly.
"I'm Emily." The fairly tall lady with a french bun announced in a sharp tone. "and I'm here if you need anything."
"I want to go home!" I said aloud.
She sighs and releases her hands to her sides. "I'll be bringing your meal shortly."
"I'm not hungry."
"El jefe will be angry if you don't eat."
"I said I am not hungry!" My voice rises in frustration.
How on earth could I be comfortable eating? I was so scared to death.
"I'll be back with your meal and your dress."
"Dress?"
"Yes. El jefe wants you in his room once you're dressed."
"What?" I couldn't believe my ears. Why did he want me? At first I made it clear that I wasn't going unless he was going to come down here himself and drag me.
But I didn't really have the energy right now for all of that and maybe I should talk with him and explain to him that I'm not whom he thinks I am. Lucia or whoever.
In a few minutes, I was dressed up by Emily in a fitted red dress.
"And you mustn't address him as we do. Call him Quinn, that's his name."
Whatever! There was no way I could have addressed my abductor with so much respect in the first place.
As she leads me to meet her boss, I'm observing each corner of the building that we passed through. There were guards in suits standing around. When we passed the mezzanine, I glare down to see the big hall room.
I could swear that I had never been inside such a beautiful mansion. But the state of apprehension that I was in presently did not allow me to take my time to admire the gigantic glassy chandeliers and the luxurious furniture.
"This way."
I hear her voice and turn back to my front where Emily was quickly leading me.
We stopped in front of a large door where two mighty looking guards were standing.
Again, my heart began to beat uncontrollably fast.
I made up my mind that I was going to talk to him reasonably and try to make him understand that he had the wrong girl.
I would make sure I act very calm and composed so he would listen to me and let me go.
The doors were pushed open by the guards and I got in quietly.
I hold my hands together in front and gaze into the room.
As I hear the sound of the door shutting loudly, I look back to realize that I was in darkness now that the doors were closed.
I face the space before me again with my heart shuddering. I catch the strong smell of alcohol mixed together with room fragrance and warmth.
I jolt when the light suddenly switches on and I see him standing before me with one of his feet on the bed and his hand holding a glass.
He looked younger than he had appeared earlier with his thick wavy brown hair swept back over his high arched eyebrows and blue hypnotic green eyes. I hadn't mistaken his great height. He was now in a baggy long sleeved shirt with one hand in the pocket of his joggers. His eyes appeared darker as he stared at me with head tilted back so that his gaze settled on me... Or a part of me.
His long fingers lower the glass of liquor by the rim to the small table before the bed. For now I was too worries about my situation to gush over his looks.
"Lucia." He whispers and I step a bit backwards.
"You look so beautiful... I longed to see you in this dress once again and finally... here."
"Look!" I stretch a hand forward to halt his movement towards me. "I think you're mistaking. I am not Lucia. I'm Jane!" I spread my hand on my chest. " I think you have mistaken me for... "
"Shhhhh." His index finger crossed his lips and his nose, his eyes refusing to move off me.
"Do you not understand? Your man drugged me and kidnapped me on my wedding. I need to go back."
"I'm sincerely sorry that you had to go through such disrespectful abuse but it was necessary. You're not going back to that man. You're here now and you're mine."
That man? Did he know Fernando?
"You can't keep me here! I must get married to him! Someone's fate depends on it!"
"Your mother's?"
My lips tighten around the other and I freeze in shock as he comes closer to me.
"How did you know?" I whispered.
"It doesn't matter. I'm going to send him the money you owe him. And I'll make him understand that you sent it to him. After that, he'll have no choice but to let your mother go."
"And then what? You've bought me?"
"Exactly." He answered coldly and I take a step back as he was getting even closer.
His suffocating fragrance fills the air and I struggle not to twitch my nose.
He raises his hand and stretches it near my face. I shriek silently as his fingers trail up my bare arm, his touch sending new shivers through me.
"Lucia..." He whispers again and his lips carve up near my nose.
Overcome with intense fright, I shift from him and yell.
"I am not Lucia!"
As if agitated by my guts to pull out of his grip, he seizes my arm and draws me up against his hard body and I feel his other hand slowly wrap around my side and spread over my back.
"Be still, Lucia..." He whispers and my body tenses up with sick as I feel his hand slide up my back, then down my waist.
JANEMy period should’ve come five days ago. What am I missing?God… please don’t let it be that...I dig through the drawer again, my fingers frantic as they shove past sanitary pads, wipes, tubes of Replens. The unopened box of tampons still sits there, untouched -proof of a habit - I wasn't ever a fan of tampons. My chest tightens as I keep searching. Then I find it - My birth-control card. I pull it out with shaking fingers and count.One. Two. Three... I should be holding an empty pack.I missed three pills - guilty!I knew I was missing it, yet Quinn and I had been having sex non-stop for days and I knew what would happen. Perhaps, I secretly expected this to happen. So why was I shocked and scared now?I felt tiny tingles of cold on my forehead and my palm flew up to find it was beads of sweat. I wipe it off at once, knowing well, the cause.I’ve been holding that pee for too long.I rush to the toilet as fast as my heavy bladder allows, barely shutting the door before relief
QUINN"Master of Disguise - that's what he was called." Mario murmurs from beside me and I nod."I'm not surprised. That's exactly what he was."After I killed Igor, I made sure to locate his house and have it checked for useful information. After his computers and belongings were put to check, Venice came to discover that Igor wasn't the fragile 52 year old man he pretended to be. He went by the name Chameleon Hue - an infamous assassin that worked for many secret organizations across the continent. He didn't stop after he came from jail. All he had to do was use his body frame to his advantage and look like a harmless cafe man. But in the night, he was a demon that slithered through the alleys and reaped lives out. I fell for it too."It seems his daughter left when she found out. So he wanted to take the job and earn a decent money from it for her sake.""No, I don't think she knows," I chew on my lip. "Find her and have Igor's savings transfered to her. But if she really ran off
JANEI find my fingers recoiling into my palms as I watched the man whose face brought back a long line of dark memories surging through me.He didn't change -Those eyes were still the same. Nothing to show as a man who had been through the cell. Or one who had reversed his ways. Nothing changed. Mario pulled the iron bars open so that we could see him clearly. My eyes burned as he fixed his on mine. Then his gaze rolls off like I'm nothing, landing back on Quinn. "You could've just killed me already!" He growled the moment Mario tore the tape off his mouth."Why? Two days of starvation, too much for you to handle?" Quinn asked. "I'm still here," He pointed to his stomach"And so are you,” he pointed back to Igor's leg. That's when I see - dripping blood from what looked like a bullet wound to the calf."What do you want with me?" He pants like his life is draining out of him. His face is swollen and his shirt soaked in sweat and bloodstains."Reflection, admittance, apologies, and p
QUINN“Wait. Wait. Wait!” then SHIMM!The slash comes with the sound, sharp and wet, and I jolt awake. I push my head up from the pillow and a sharp pain is sent to my waist.I hiss, my hand flying to the wound.I blink hard, the room coming into focus till I see her figure. Lucia's perched awkwardly on a chair by the table, elbow propped, fist tucked under her cheek. Her eyes are closed, her head tilted at an angle that tells me she didn’t mean to fall asleep like that.God, no! She’s uncomfortable, but clearly too exhausted to fight the sleep.I grunt as I force myself upright. For a moment, the pain locks me in place, then it recedes, scattering through my entire body until it all fades and I feel almost nothing... except her. I reach for the robe hanging on the closet hook and slide my arms into it, tugging it over my shoulders. The bandage on my wound is soaked through, brown-red blooming against the white. I clutch the plackets, drawing the robe closed to cover it. Lucia does
JANE My hands were constantly tapping at the table as I watched the clock. It was already a few minutes to midnight. Quinn should've been back by now. I paced back to my room and slithered up my bed, hugging my legs. When my eyes fell back to the reading table, they lingered for a while. I'd probably wake up to meet him sitting up there in the morning. Watching me.But he wasn't.The door pushed open and Emily hurried in, packing up my curtains for the late morning.Something didn't feel right. "Is Quinn back?" I asked."No ma'am," She said quickly and hurried into the bathroom to get my bath ready.I shake my head, getting up. "Why isn't he back?" "I don't know, ma'am. It's not in my place to know. He's usually away this much... Sometimes," she bends down to fix the bed sheets, her bob hair falling down her face."If something happened to Quinn, tell me!" She stood her face tightening suddenly."El jefe is a strong man. Nothing would happen to him," She said that she was ass
QUINNVenice pulls over beneath the sky’s blackened canopy, near the flickering streetlights. I drop my hoody and step out, my movements slow, until I slid into the seat beside her.“I bet I never asked you this before,” she said, eyes forward. “You sure about this?”“Yes.” I cock my pistol and her gaze linger on me with clear readable doubts. “You found this man for me. Shouldn’t I be the hesitant one?”She exhaled. “Yeah. He’s the one. That’s Igor. But I’ve never seen you hunt someone down for someone else. Rather people do it for you.”“He wronged me,” I said, pushing the gun back into my pocket and pulling my hood up. “I told you before.”“You’re doing it for that girl, aren’t you?”I bit down on my lip for a few seconds before reaching across her side of the door and pulling it open. “I owe you one, V.”She shrugs. “Nope. You only owe me my balance.” She stepped out of the car.I reached for my pocket and stretched out a card to her. She stands eyeing it for some seconds."Have M
