Strings of Nightmares

"Uhm," Alexa yawned as she woke up drowsily.

"What happened?" Alexa frowned as memories of what happened flashed back.

"Damn it, what a beast.” Alexa quickly stood up but she sat down as fast as she got up. Her lower abdomen felt like it was on fire, there was no place that didn't hurt.

She looked at the guy sleeping soundly beside her. He was facing downwards so his face couldn't be seen but Alexa had no intention of seeing his face.

"Thank you for helping me but you used me too, so we are even." Alexa whispered as she wore her previous clothes thankful that he didn't rip them apart in the heat of events.

Her gown was a long piece and she wore the man's suit to cover up her arms filled with hickeys. She took one final look at the man and left, unaware that she forgot her purse which contained her ID card and a picture of her. But the moment she stepped out of the hotel, she got bombarded by reporters.

"Miss Alexa, can you tell us what you are doing here?" A reporter asked shoving the microphone to her lips

"What are you doing wearing a man's outfit miss Alexa?" Another commented.

"Miss Alexa, are the photos circulating online true? Do you seduce your sister's husband, Jack?"

"What despicable thing did you do on the day of your sister's wedding,"

"Miss Alexa, how could you deceive the country and your fans who trusted you by plagiarizing the hard work of your sister?"

"Miss Alexa..."

"Miss Alexa..."

And on and on the questions kept coming but all Alexa could hear was plagiarism.

"When all her music came from me, when did such a thing happen, what are the people saying?” Alexa mumbled.

She tried to get away from the blockade but the suit was pulled down by a male reporter and her hickey marks were exposed to the flashing lights of the cameras.

"It must be true the rumors, you are a slut, miss Alexa!" He commented shamelessly.

"That's right, to think my kid considers her a role model, what a disgrace to women?" Another woman who was a guest in the hotel said,

"She is a slut, what a bitch, how dare you seduce my husband? You slimy bitch," A rough voice rang in her ears as a middle aged obese woman grabbed Alexa by the hair.

She was the wife of a famous director in the acting industry. It was no secret that Alexa was planning on joining the acting industry, so it all made sense.

"Wow, Alexa has really refreshed my mind, not only is she a thief, she is also a slut,"

"She is such a disgrace, what is she doing in the entertainment industry?"

Alexa had lost track of the people who owned the voices she heard as her brain turned rapidly as she let out a frustrated laugh.

"Susan, oh Susan, I really underestimated you and your ways. Even if I didn't end up sleeping with Mr. Smith, like you wanted, you would have still put the pot on my head. won't take it, Susan." Alexa lamented as she pushed the fat woman away.

She fought her way through the entertained crowd and took off in a cab. On the way to the Sanders house, she looked at the news online and with each picture that popped up, Alexa's heart clenched.

Those pictures of her seducing Jack were the pictures of when they were newly dating. She didn't expect that Susan would take pictures of them and frame it as seduction.

The manuscripts of the song “Spring” were definitely stolen by Olly and given to Susan because only Olly knew where Alexa had kept it. Surprisingly, Olly was also the person who accused her of plagiarism on live TV.

Alexa's heart gradually closed as she vowed to never be so vulnerable again. Comments upon comments speedily rolled out under the scandalous posts.

"Wow, she is such a whore."

"Alexa get out of the music industry, I am so angry, to think I was her fan? So disgusting."

"What if she was framed, I mean she hasn't even made a statement, right? How could we believe the words of a stranger?"

"Hello, the commenter above me, you must be a diehard fan. What do you mean by stranger? That's her maid and best friend, Olly, exposing her on TV.”

"Olly also doesn't deserve to be a best friend, don't kid me. A true friend wouldn't take to the net and expose her friend with such joy and fervor in her voice, look at her talk as if she is reciting the deeds of her worst enemy.”

"Exactly my point, you all are pointing the arrow at Alexa but Alexa has published a lot of works with the same genre but in the case of Susan, this isn't her style of singing, so what's the problem?"

Critical thinkers and some diehard fans of Alexa tried to reason but their efforts proved futile in the face of the brainless crowd who shamelessly kept to their story.

As Alexa exited the cab, she saw that her family issued a statement on her behalf confirming Olly's words.

"What is this?" Alexa fumed as she stormed into the house. “How could my sister do this to me, after all I have done for her?"

"She stole my music and made me miserable, thankfully Olly was there to save the day, if not, I would have surely been disgraced online." Susan cried out sadly as she nestled in Jack's embrace.

"Don't talk about that slut, to think I misjudged her to be an angel." Jack replied as he planted kisses on the back of her palm. "Ever since we started dating, the most we had done was hold hands as she was always on and about that we should keep sex for marriage,"

“Really,” Susan batted her lashes.

"I was so stupid treating her like a queen not knowing she has been greening me all this while, the audacity of that slut," Jack said gloomily as his face contorted.

Saying he had no feelings for her after the long time they spent dating would be untrue. He actually still retained feelings for her and had wanted to make her his mistress but now he hated her to the last.

"Young master Jack, I would surely give you an explanation for this matter," Hank smiled as he tried to calm Jack

"You better punish that bitchy slut," Jack frowned at Hank who nodded frantically.

The entire family were so engrossed in their family TV show that they didn't notice Alexa's return.

"A true father, no matter how wrong his child is, wouldn't sit still and watch his child suffer. Hank, you don't deserve to be my father." Alexa's cold voice brought the family show to an end.

"You little animal," Hank gave Alexa a slap with his full power prompting a cut on Alexa's lips.
