"Nacho!" she screamed while rushing toward it. "Open the door! Please!" The fading sound of his footsteps echoed farther and farther down the narrow corridor until it disappeared. Tulip kept banging on the door and begging until her palms turned sore and her voice became hoarse. Though, nothing but the silence answered her pleas. Meanwhile, in that hall, Mili was unable to stop staring at the rough ropes around her wrists. Now and then she could feel Daniel's shoulder brushing lightly against hers while the vile profanities of the men surrounding them rang in her ears. Yet she had never felt farther away from him. Her eyes cautiously drifted toward him again and again. Daniel wasn't looking at her. His attention remained fixed on the older men talking about his destruction.
