Lyra's POV

I made the decision to go back to Howler in the middle of the night.

I laid on my cot, staring at the canvas ceiling, listening to the chatters of the people. Nicholas was somewhere nearby—I could feel him through the fragile bond we'd been building. Raven was on patrol. Sera was sleeping in a tent of her own.

But Howler was dying.

"If you are not at Howler by then—if the pack does not have its true Luna—everyone dies."

The Moon Goddess's words echoed in my head, loud enough that I co

Aiden's POVShe walked out of my office without looking back."I wish you won't make my staying here harder than it already is."Her words cut deeper than any blade could.I stood there for a long moment, staring at the door she had disappeared through. The map was still spread across the table. The candles were still burning. But everything felt colder than before. She was here. Lyra was here, and yet she felt so far away. And she even came with another man.The rogue. Nicholas. The way he had stood by the door, watching me like a wolf protecting his territory. The way he had growled at me—growled—like I was the enemy.Like I was the one who didn't belong in my own pack, made me feel all sorts of emotions that I didn't like."Alpha."Grayson's voice pulled me from my thoughts. I hadn't heard him enter,I have been so distracted these days that I'm hardly aware of the presence of someone."What?""The rogues are settling in the eastern barracks. Lyra requested a tent near the training y

Nicholas's voice came from outside my tent. "You okay?""I need to go back." I said. There was silence for some time, then the tent flap opened and Nicholas stepped inside, his face shadowed in the darkness."Go back where?" He asked."Howler." I said swinging my legs over the side of the cot. "The pack needs me. The Moon Goddess said—""I don't care what the Moon Goddess said." He said with a tight voice. "You can't go back

  • His Fear Her Becoming    Chapter 24 – The Confession

Nicholas POVIt was getting dark when I found Lyra and a Lycan woman I didn't recognize, stumbling out of the treeline, half-dead, covered in blood and ash and something that looked like silver light still clinging to Lyra's skin.My heart stopped for a movement, then it started again, pounding so hard I thought my ribs would crack."Lyra!" I found my foot running towards her before I could think. As she saw me,her face crumpled. And then she was running too, closing the distance between us, crashing into my chest so hard I nearly fell backward."I thought I lost you," I whispered into her hair."You didn't." Her voice was muffled against my shirt. "I'm here. I'm okay."I held her tighter, not wanting to let go,and I was planning on doing that if the lycan woman didn't clear her throat."I'm Sera," she said, like I cared. "I helped her escape. The Rogue King is going to come looking for her. Soon."I pulled back from Lyra but didn't let go. My eyes scanned her face, her arms, her hands,f

Lyra's POVThe chains hit the stone floor with a clatter that echoed through the dungeon like thunder. "Quiet!" Sera hissed under her breatAnd I tried to,but I couldn't be quiet. The silver fire roared in my chest, surging through veins that had been starved of it for too long. My hands blazed,my arms glowed, the light spilled out of me like I was the moon itself."We need to go," Sera hissed. "Now."She grabbed my wrist and pulled me toward the corridor, and I followed as quietly as I could. The dungeon twisted and turned, a maze of stone and shadow. Torches flickered on the walls, casting dancing shapes that looked like watching eyes. Every sound made my heart lurch."Left," Sera whispered. "Then right. Then down the stairs.""How do you know the way?" I asked ."I've lived here for ten years. I know every tunnel, every cell, every escape route the King doesn't know exists."Within a few minutes,we reached the stairs. Stone steps worn smooth by centuries of feet. I took them two at

  • His Fear Her Becoming    Chapter 22 – The Truth Revealed

Lyra's POVThe Moon Goddess stood at the foot of my cell, smiling down at me.She was more radiant than I remembered. Her hair flowed like liquid moonlight, her gown shimmered with stars. But her eyes—her eyes held a sorrow that made my chest ache.“ My child," she said. Her voice warm and terrifying, like a fire you wanted to touch even knowing it would burn. “You have suffered much.”I pulled against my chains, crawling my way towards her. “Then why won't you free me?”“Because your freedom is not mine to give. It is yours to take.” She stepped closer, and the more she came closer, the more the silver chains on my wrists glowed. “But first, you must see.” She said.“See what?”“The truth.” She raised her hand. “The truth you were denied. The truth was Aiden was too afraid to seek.” She said and touched my forehead with her fingers. And the world suddenly disappeared.I was no longer in the cell; I stood in the great hall of Howler Pack, but it was no longer the beautiful pack I grew

  • His Fear Her Becoming    Chapter 21 – The Rogue's King Offer

Lyra's POVI woke up to find myself on a cold stone with chains around my wrists.“Finally.”Someone said from the shadows. The voice was deep, and familiar, like a voice I have heard repeatedly in my dreams.I didn't want to believe it. I didn't want to believe this was how I was going to meet my father for the first time.I pulled against the chains, but they burned where they touched my skin. I hissed from the pain.Silver. Fuck!“Let me go.” I yelled into the shadows.“In due time.” The Rogue King said as he stepped into the torchlight.I had seen him in my dreams countless times, but dreams didn't really prepare me for the reality. He was big… So big. Bigger than Nicholas, taller than Aiden. Scars crossed his face like a map of old wars, each one telling a story of betrayal and survival. His hair was dark, streaked with gray at the temples. And his eyes — Oh, my God. They were exactly like mine. The shape, color, and the same fire that was hidden behind the iris.My breath seize
