Serena’s POV

I slammed the door shut behind me, as the sound echoed loud in the quiet night.

My chest heaved,as I leaned against the wall, my hands trembling with anger.

Daniel’s words clawed at my mind, like a fresh wound: “Be my mistress. For a year.”

The audacity, the sheer arrogance of him thinking he could buy me, own me, like I was some commodity to be traded for his desire.

My skin burned with the memory of his touch, his lips, the way my body had betrayed me with that kiss.

I hated h

  • His Forbidden Mistress   Chapter 26

Daniel’s POVThe day had dragged on like a bad dream -meetings blending into calls, Vanessa’s morning tantrum still echoing in my ears, her whinings and empty threats. But none of it mattered.I’d replayed it endlessly, the taste of her lingering like an addiction I couldn’t shake. Serena Voss.Work done, emails sent, deals sealed, I grabbed my jacket, my mind already on the club. I needed to see her, to apologize properly, to bridge a friendship my stupid proposal had broken.Henryson waited outside beside the Bentley. “The usual room, sir?” he asked, his voice neutral but knowing.“Yeah,” I said, sliding into the leather seat, the city blurring past as we headed downtown. The club was my guilty escape, but tonight it felt different. Serena danced there, her body a weapon against the world - against Victor Crane’s debt, against men like me who thought money could buy anyone. I’d learned too much from the file Henryson gave me: her mother’s death, the fifty grand she owed, the way

  • His Forbidden Mistress   Chapter 25

Lila’s POVI raced up the creaky stairs to Serena’s apartment, my heart pounding from her tear-choked call. And the urgency in her voice had me ditching my plans for a flirty ice cream date without a second thought. Serena wasn’t one to break, not the fiery woman who danced with her chin high, but hearing her sob about Victor Crane threatening Mia sent a chill through me. I pushed open the apartment door, and found her in the kitchen, looking like a crumpled mess against the counter, tears streaking her face, her arm bruised purple.“Serena!” I dropped my bag, rushing to her side, my boots slipping on spilled coffee. She looked small, fragile, her T-shirt clinging to her trembling frame, a far cry from the queen who’d rocked that red dress last night. I knelt, placing my hands gently on her shoulders. “Hey, come on, let’s get you up.” I pulled her to her feet, her body shaking as I guided her to the living room couch. Serena sank into the cushions, her eyes glassy, and I bit back a c

  • His Forbidden Mistress   Chapter 24

Serena’s POVMy heart leapt, hoping it was Mia, back to talk, to let me hold her like when we were kids, to forgive me for being this broken shell of her sister. My fingers brushed the knob, a half-smile forming. Then I swung the door open, and my smile shattered.Victor Crane stood in the doorway, his lean frame clad in a suit too sharp for this decaying apartment. His eyes, cold and dangerous, lock into mine, freezing my blood. Behind him, two hulking men in black. His enforcers, not guards, loomed like wolves circling prey. I tried to slam the door, but Victor shoved it wide, forcing his way inside.I stumbled back, my heart hammering so hard I could collapse right now. “Serena,” he drawled slowly, his voice smooth but laced with danger. “You’ve been dodging my calls. Running from me. I hate that.” His polished shoes clicked as he invaded my tiny kitchen, his goons trailing, slamming the door and it felt like a trap.My hip crashed into the counter, my hands gripping the edge to ke

  • His Forbidden Mistress   Chapter 23

Serena’s POVThe morning sun pierced through the grimy window of my tiny apartment, its weak rays doing little to warm the chill that had settled in my bones after last night. Daniel Hawthorne’s kiss still haunted me before I’d shoved him away and fled the limo. The red dress, now draped over a chair, and the diamonds tucked back in their box felt like a world I didn’t belong in, mocking the crumbling life I was fighting to hold together. I barely slept, my dreams tangled with his dark eyes.A sharp knock jolted me awake, Mia’s voice cutting through. “Sena, get up! Come downstairs for coffee and toast. You can’t sleep all day!” Her tone was bright but insistent.I groaned, rolling over in my tangled sheets, the clock reading 8:30 a.m. “Five more minutes,” I mumbled, but Mia was already in, her brown eyes sparkling with that relentless energy only an eighteen-year-old could muster. Her messy bun bounced as she tugged at my arm.“Nope, now,” she said, grinning. “You look like you need

  • His Forbidden Mistress   Chapter 22

Daniel’s POVThe morning sun sliced through the blinds of my corner office at Hawthorne Enterprises, casting sharp lines across my desk as I sank into my chair. It was 8:46 a.m. and the weight of last night’s date with Serena Voss still lingered like a fever. Her kiss - electric and achingly brief had left me restless, her angry exit from the limo still replaying in my mind. I’d barely slept, my thoughts tangled with her green eyes, her outburst. I was halfway through an email, trying to focus on a big deal, when Marcus came in, his grin wide and unapologetic, his suit slightly rumpled.“Morning, Hawthorne,” he said, dropping into the chair across from me, propping his feet on my desk like he owned the place. “You look like hell. That mystery date keep you up all night?”I shot him a look, leaning back, as I loosen my tie. “Something like that,” I muttered, not ready to spill about Serena - her kiss, her rejection, the way she had called me a stalker before bolting. Marcus would teas

  • His Forbidden Mistress   Chapter 21

Serena’s POVMy lips still tingled from Daniel Hawthorne’s kiss - bold, unexpected, a spark that had brought something dangerous inside me before I’d shoved him away and fled like a scared rabbit. The red dress felt heavy now, the diamonds at my throat a mocking reminder of his world, so far from mine. I climbed the creaky stairs to our apartment, each step a reminder of the crumbling life I was barely holding together. Victor Crane’s threats loom, Mia’s college bills stacked on the kitchen table, and now this - Daniel, with his billionaire charm and that infuriating half-smile, complicating everything.I pushed open the door, the locks groaning softly, as I slipped inside, kicking off the heels with a sigh of relief. The apartment was dim, lit only by the faint glow of a lamp in the living room. Mia was curled up on the couch, her textbook spread open on her chest, her breathing deep and even in sleep. Her messy bun hair strands framing her face, and for a moment, I just watched he
