LOGINCara stared at the woman sitting opposite an officer of the law in the questioning room, she looked so nervous and worried. She never raised her head up once and she didn't open her mouth to respond to any of the questions the officer was asking her. The man let out a sigh, rubbing his forehead before getting to his feet and turning towards the door. "Is he okay?!" She yelled out suddenly, finally raising her head up, looking desperately at him. The officer stared at Vicky but didn't say anything. He noticed how unhinged she was and he let out a soft sigh. The detective outside the questioning room, watching the questioning go on, where Cara was standing, received a message and suddenly spoke up. He leaned towards the microphone, "Clark, let me see you for one moment." The officer in the questioning room nodded his head and left there to join them. Vicky screamed loudly. "Just fucking tell me! Is he okay? Is he alive? There wasn't any news whether he survived or not, why won't
Cara walked towards the car with trembling legs. She didn't want to believe what she was seeing. She knew the car was hers with no doubt, but still, maybe, hopefully, there was a chance the car wasn't hers. She froze midway, unable to step any forward. Her eyes locked onto the passenger and she couldn't breathe. "Romeo..." She muttered. "Romeo..." Romeo was still conscious, she noticed he was trying to undo the seat belt and that was when it came to her that she had to do something. "Somebody help!" She screamed. "My husband! That's my husband!" She sobbed loudly, finally able to carry her feet as she ran towards the car. "Her husband?""Poor woman.""Wait, that's Cara Armani!" "It must be Romeo Armani in the car!" People murmured on the street. "Please! Somebody call the ambulance!" She exclaimed, unable to hold back her tears. "I'm calling an ambulance already!" One man exclaimed. She rushed to the door of the car and tried to pull the door open but it wouldn't budge. She
Cara froze, she couldn't move. Hearing those words pinned her to a spot. She could have sworn she heard Giovanni's voice over the phone, saying things that probably mattered, that were probably going to be important, relating to what he had said, but she didn't hear a single word. She was in the room but wasn't there. Her mind had been carried away by a wave. Why was she the only one being attacked for being happy? Why was everyone out to kill her? What exactly was her offense in particular? Cara flinched softly as a hand touched her leg. She blinked, realizing where she was. "Giovanni, I'll... I'll have to call you back." She finally uttered, not hearing a word from what he had been saying. "Cara, I really didn't want to tell you cause I didn't want to get you scared, but Romeo, he--""Giovanni," she said, cutting him off, her voice carrying weight. "I need to hang up now. Call Romeo, he's free now. Something came up here too, he can answer your calls now.""Okay. I'm sorry for
Cara couldn't even believe what she was doing. She had the house carer go out with her that morning to a boutique and assist her in picking out some clothes for Jessica. She and Jessica wore almost the same size, from shoes, clothes, and even down to underwear. That made it a whole lot easier for her to shop for her. Jessica's size was just a little bigger but looking at her now, she knew they would wear the exact same size of clothes. She had a bunch of clothes in her walk-in wardrobe, a lot more that she doubted she'd ever wear, but she'd rather give them away than let Jessica wear them. After picking everything out, she went back home to drop everything off. Mrs Armani was already around to help take care of Alice. Cara didn't have time to explain the whole Jessica situation to Tori so she hoped Romeo would do the explaining while she was gone and if he didn't, they'd talk after her therapy session. Standing alone with Jessica in the guest room, several bags lined the floor,
"You want me to spend the night?" Jessica asked, eyes widened beyond shock. Cara's brow arched. "Would you rather go out there by this time of the night and risk having your throat slit? You really can't try to pin that blame on me if anything of such happens." "I won't try to pin anything on you anymore. It would be on me." Jessica let out a sigh. "It's just that I didn't drive all the way to the city just to see you. I also have an important business I came here to do." Cara stared at her, lost somewhere between confusion and amusement. "What is so important that it cannot wait till morning? Your safety isn't even guaranteed in the morning when there's day light but you'd rather go out in the night where any fucking body can come at you and you wouldn't even see it?" "I didn't know my life was at stake when I made my schedules! Don't blame me." Jessica pouted. Cara let out a scoffed laugh. "You're unbelievable. Fine, go out and die. If you manage to survive, come back in the mo
CHAPTER 59SHAME OVER DEATH Jessica was quiet, from the look on her face, it was obvious that she was searching for a comeback. But her vicious tongue had run out of venom to spill. She swallowed, looking everywhere else but at Cara's face. She cleared her throat but didn't say anything. She remained silent and sat on the sofa, hands rubbing against her thigh. Cara fell into her seat with a soft sigh. She let her eyes fall close and rubbed her weary head. She hadn't even realized when she had gotten to her feet, Jessica was really stressing her. At that moment, Alice started crying from upstairs and another sigh escaped her mouth except this time, it wasn't soft, it was heavy with fatigue. Romeo got to his feet before she could, "I'll check on her, she probably just needs a gentle pat back to sleep.""Can I..." Jessica spoke up but the moment eyes were on her, she felt intimidated. She gripped onto the fabric of her dress. "Can I... See her? In person...? Please?"Cara breathed
Her eyes widened for an instant before anger dawned upon her. Her day had been going perfectly well until the universe threw such a bad luck at her.Chris’ eyes widened. “Cara…” he muttered. She frowned. “Will your insurance cover the damages? It is quite much.” She ignored any attempt at a friendly c
Chris’ eyes widened. “What? What nonsense are you spilling from your mouth?”Jessica snorted a laugh. “You might be an Armani but Mr Michael Knowles is Chris’ dad and who do you think he will listen to? A stranger or his own son?”“We'll have to find out, won't we?” Romeo's brow arched. His lips curve
“Did you hear? The hitman, your friend's ex boyfriend right? He's been sentenced to twenty years in prison.” Romeo said to Cara. He waited for a response but didn't get any. When he stared closely at her, he realised that she was there but her mind was elsewhere. He placed a hand on hers as he ca
As she had all of their attention in the grasp of her hand, she took out her phone and played a recording. Murmurs immediately filled the hall at what they heard. It was none other than Sarah Knowles, begging Jessica not to let her secret be known that Chris was not the son of his father and that
