CHAPTER #41 “SMALL BLESSINGS” LUCCA’S POV: I ordered my warriors to gather all the wounded and take them back to Green Mountain’s pack house and infirmary. Unfortunately, those that had dared tangled with us, many of them had been deposed of. We found only 5 wounded and still breathing, minus the girl and the pack doctor. Ryder walked over to me as the Green Mountain warriors gathered the few wounded, the girl and the doctor and placed them in the pair of pack ambulances. I scoffed and irritably rubbed the back of my neck in disgust. “Over 500 members in this pack and you only have 2 ancient ambulances.” I grumbled as Ryder walked over to me, wiping the blood from his hands on a towel that our SUV had in the side door. “Yeah, kinda pathetic.” He agreed as we stared at the devastation caused by the actions of one madman. Alpha Ethan walked up beside me, and my dark eyes flashed with Enzo’s pleading at the King. “Alpha Ryan, no disres
CHAPTER #42“TRUTH”EMILY’S POV: “You are Lucca.” I said with a confidence I didn’t feel. I was weak, my body riddle with a dull pain, and my head was pounding. I felt like I had been in a train wreck, and I wasn’t entirely sure how I had gotten back to the infirmary. I struggled to speak, my voice was raspy and dry and it felt as though I had swallowed shards of glass. The handsome Alpha hesitated; I knew he was trying to decipher if I were a friend of foe. I observed as he inhaled deeply, his eyes flickering back and forth with his wolf as he checked all the different scents within. I heard a low growl escape from his throat, his eyes flickering gold as he gave me a side eye. He could smell Evan on me, and he didn’t like it. I knew it plainly as we had only had sex hours earlier. I would reek of him. “And you are?” he asked with a hint of skepticism and coldness. “Evan’s mate.” I answered coldly. I could feel the contempt and distrust,
CHAPTER #43“TO THE FREELAND"LUCCA’S POV: I stared at the little frail witch with an entirely new respect. Her dull brown eyes still radiated with an internal fire, and although her body had been battered and abused, starved emotionally and physically, her spirit was still full of fire. Her ability to acknowledge the fact that her own mate sorely needed to be put to death truly made my own heart hurt for her. I could never imagine the internal torment she had to be going through. I turned to walk away from her the second time and once again her fragile voice broke though the room. “He needs to me killed. He will never stop and there will never be peace for anyone as long as he lives. He is no better than a rabid dog at this point.” I slowly turned and cast my eyes upon her face. She was matter of fact, and unremorseful as she spoke. I had an entirely new admiration, not to mention empathy for her. I gulped and nodded as my own heart pained for her.
CHAPTER #44“A RACE TO THE FREELAND”Meredith’s POV: I awoke in a room that I was unaccustomed to, my eyes flickering as I attempted to regain my bearings. A faint headache lingered as I slid up the headboard, positioning myself upright and allowing my eyes to adjust. The room was still predominantly dark, however the silver haze peering over the mountains alluded to smoke, hence the fabled name smokey mountains. My room had one small table lamp still lit on low across the room nearest the door. My dream had been so vivid, the vision of my friend calling to me, her pleas for help. I began to remember everything that had transpired only a few hours ago and figured that all had left to find Bridgette as everything was silent now. I took a deep breath and exhaled as I swing my legs from under the covers and place my soles onto the hardwood floor. It took a moment for me to remember that I had cut up my feet only hours earlier and alarmed I lifted my right leg back
CHAPTER #45“FINDING AMBER”MEREDITH’S POV: I hadn’t dealt with many vampires, few were located in our area of Scotland. More of them tended to take residence in England. London, Bristol, and Liverpool were full of them, and Paris. Yes, France was a vampire haven. Nonetheless, most of these undead beings could sense witches and wolves, just as we could sense them. As his black eyes met my emerald green he smirked and smiled warmly to me. I heard a shuffle to the right of him, yet he simply ignored the sound and focused on me. Isaac’s wolf leaped forward again, however this time the vamp was ready from him and simply telepathically tossed the canine away, slamming his body into the nearest large oak. The power of the blow caused Isaac to fall unconscious, potentially dead. Raina gasped, biting her own fist to stop herself from screaming out as bumped into me and into the tree. I looked away from the vampire and noticed a blonde girl laying on the ground only fee
CHAPTER #46 “THE KINGS DAUGHTER” Bridgette’s POV: I awoke roughly, my head bouncing off the passenger window of an SUV. My vision was blurry and I squinted and raised my arm over my eyes as I attempted to focus where I was and who I was with. I groaned as we hit another bump despite feeling the vehicle begin to slow. “What the hell.” I grumbled, I felt lightheaded and exhausted. For some reason, every time I had to use an excessive amount of magic I weaken. I wondered if it was the pup I was carrying. Honestly, had it not been for the witches and the magic of late, I would have never known I was expecting as it was frankly too soon to know such things. However, in my mind, the pup was helping save me. Had it not been for its self-preservation, I very well could have been marked and mated to my captor by know. “Ah, so nice to know you are awake.” I heard the distinctive voice of Evan James ring in my ears. I suddenly felt nauseous but swallowed t
CHAPTER #47“THE OLD WITCH”RYDER’S POV: I couldn’t remember the last time I had been that angry at another person, but my mate made my blood boil. Sassy, rude, defiant, and sexy as hell. I lumbered behind the two Alpha’s and the group of warriors that had accompanied us into the Freeland. I hated this place more than any place on earth. Part of my life I was raised with humans at an orphanage, the remaining time I was raised right here, in the Freeland. That was the reason I chose to live primarily with humans, because the scum I was forced to associate with here was no good. I glanced up and saw my mate from behind riding the Alpha’s large black wolf. She was beautiful, maybe 120 pounds, long wavy walnut hair that shined and danced down her back in soft large waves. Her perfect silhouette made me recall only a few nights ago when I was able to claim her lips with mine. Her mouth was sweet and soft, she was perfect for me and I thanked the Moon Goddess for such
CHAPTER #48“THE CURSE”BRIDGETTE’S POV: Trent and Trey took me into a large room on the left side of the rustic stairway. They opened the steel door with a large skeleton key and gently escorted me inside. They were respectful to me, and I smiled kindly to them. Although they were in the wrong, they were simply following their Alpha’s orders. They closed the door behind me and left me standing alone in this simple barren room with a grouping of twin beds lined up against the wall. I heard a door close from behind me and spun around quickly to see a pretty girl with freckles, grey eyes and sierra colored brown hair, hanging just past her shoulders, dripping wet. She held a white towel around her tiny body, her eyes filled with alarm at seeing me and she quickly took a step back. “Ava…” she said in a weak cracking voice. I stood my ground and watched as another girl, taller yet just as thin raced to the other girl’s side. This girl resembled Emily, s
