Chapter 4
.She tried to reach out to the voice in her mind again but the faded away as if it was never there before. She wanted to grab her head to make the silly headache go away but she couldn't because of the wires and all.She wished she could remember a thing or someone would just tell her something but instead her headache worsened. She was tired of everything around her, she didn't trust Leonard and the pack doctors were not telling her a thing. Brittany was the nicest among all of them. Sometimes she brings books and reads them to her but she says nothing to her. Her company was always nice like a form of escape from the mysterious world she woke up in.Brittany explained to her that they were werewolves, including Diana and they all used to live in a very big pack house before the vampire incidents. Her brother Leonard was the alpha and Howard the Beta was betrothed to Diana because the Alpha wouldn't allow her to be mated to a weakling or a coward. The girl was talkative but she was the only Diana trusted for the time being. After reading two pages of the romance book to Diana and explaining the concept of soulmates and mates to Diana, Brittany left her alone to digest all the confusing information. The sterile hospital room gradually faded from Diana's awareness as she slipped into a dreamless slumber. She longed for the comforting embrace of the mysterious man in the clearing, the only presence that felt familiar despite her memory loss. In her dreams, he visited her again, his voice like a soothing melody."You're here," Diana whispered, her eyes locking onto his crimson gaze as he entered her dreamlike world. The mysterious man wore the same enigmatic smile, his presence both reassuring and elusive. He never hinted at their shared past at all and even if he did, he knew she would forget again."I missed you," he said, his voice dripping with affection. "It feels like an eternity since we last met."Diana's heart ached at his words, longing for the connection they shared, even if it remained shrouded in mystery. She couldn't remember the depth of their bond, but it echoed in her soul, a missing puzzle piece she yearned to find."Tell me," Diana implored, her voice trembling with emotion. "Who are you? Why do I feel this connection between us?”The mysterious man's smile waned, replaced by a solemn expression."You have questions, my dear Diana," he replied, "and I promised you answers. But there is something you must do first."Diana's eyes widened, her curiosity piqued. "What do I need to do?""Find Decanal," he whispered, his voice carrying a sense of urgency."Only then will the answers you seek be revealed.""Decanal," Diana repeated the name, committing it to memory. It was a cryptic task, but she knew it held the key to unraveling the mysteries of her past. As the dream faded and reality seeped back in, Diana awoke to find herself in the hospital room once more. Her heart was heavy with both longing and determination. The mysterious man had left her with a mission, and she was determined to see it through. She opened her eyes again and she was back in the room again. To her surprise, Howard, the man she had been told was her betrothed, sat by her bedside. Howard is a strikingly handsome man with a rugged charm and a warm presence. His features are strong, characterized by a chiseled jawline and expressive hazel eyes that radiate kindness. While not as ethereally beautiful as the mysterious man in her dreams his genuine smile and reassuring demeanor make him immensely attractive in his own right. His eyes were filled with concern, and his presence offered a bland kind of feeling in contrast to the fuzzy feeling the mysterious man in her dreams always brings with him to the clearing."Diana, you're awake," Howard exclaimed, relief washing over his features. He reached out to take her hand, his touch warm and reassuring but there was something different.“ I'm sorry I wasn't here when you woke up. I was on a mission” He said placing a kiss on her hand but she felt nothing from the interaction. He stared at her with a confusing look like he was hurt but he masked it.Diana looked into his eyes, sensing the depth of his affection and concern. Her heart ached with the knowledge that she had once been close to this man, yet her memories remained locked away."I don't remember," she admitted, her voice filled with regret."But I want to."Howard smiled gently, squeezing her hand. "We'll figure this out together, Diana," he said."No matter what, I'll be here for you”As Diana pondered on his words she couldn't help but wonder about the mysterious man in her dreams and the task he had set before her. Who was Decanal, and what secrets did this entity hold? The answers remained elusive, but Diana was determined to find them, with Howard by her side as a beacon of support and love. Days turned into weeks as Diana settled into her new reality. The hospital staff, led by the diligent and caring Dr. Ellis, did their best to assist her in recovering her lost memories. They conducted various tests, scans, and therapies, but progress was slow. Diana's past remained a locked door, and she had yet to find the key.Howard was a constant presence by her side, his unwavering support a source of comfort. Despite her memory loss, their connection deepened with each passing day. His love for her was evident in every glance, every touch, and every reassuring word. One afternoon, as Diana sat by her hospital window, gazing out at the world beyond, Howard joined her. He watched her with an expression of both concern and affection."Diana, you've been through so much," Howard began, his voice soft."I can't imagine how frustrating it must be not to remember your past."Diana nodded, a mixture of gratitude and frustration welling up inside her."I appreciate everything you've done for me, Howard. But there's this constant ache in my heart, a feeling that something important is missing."Howard reached for her hand, his touch gentle but it felt like all shades of wrong. She couldn't help the contrasting emotions tearing her apart from the insides. She hated the feeling that clawed at her like she was useless."We'll find the missing pieces together, Diana. No matter how long it takes." Howard sighed at his lies again, Finding the missing piece meant sending the love of his life back to the vampire king again and he would do anything to prevent that from happening again.Chapter 5.The grand chamber within the vampire king's castle was bathed in an eerie, crimson glow as candles flickered in their ornate holders. The air was thick with a sense of unease, a palpable tension that clung to the walls like a dark shroud. The king himself sat upon his obsidian throne, his regal form a stark contrast to the haunting atmosphere. In the shadowy corners of the chamber, his loyal friend Maurice watched with bated breath.“ Your Highness” He breathed out, careful with choosing his next words in front of the brooding king.“ We have searched around the plains, it was as if the pack disappeared from the face of the Earth. We couldn't locate them Your Highness” Maurice explained to the king who was paying no attention to what he was saying.“ I shouldn't have left her alone. I did it again” He whispered with a heartbroken tone. He looked pale and ragged because he hadn't fed very well in a very long time, ever since he lost Diana in the forest three years ago. The
Chapter 6.Diana couldn't help but stare into space as she awaited the arrival of either her brother or Howard. She was to be discharged from the hospital today and none of them were yet to show up. The man in her dreams didn't show up last night and that bothered and placed her on high alert. She couldn't even reply to Brittany's cheerful greetings and the latter didn't seem to mind. Diana was always in one mood or the other so she understood. She was dressed in a plain white gown and Brittany had braided her hair into a fishbone braid. She wore a pair of low black pumps as she started moving around more on her own. Every part of her has healed physically except for her unreachable memories.Suddenly the door opened to reveal her brother, the Alpha, dressed in a crisp black suit. His hair was brushed to the side of his blind eye to mask both his scar and his eye patch. Diana just noticed that they share many resemblances. They had the same brown hazel eyes but Diana's were flecked w
Chapter 7.“ My beta, Howard will take my sister Diana as his wife and mate at the next crescent ball”The words of the Alpha dropped like a bomb inside Diana's mind. Why would her brother suddenly decide that she needs to marry Howard? Howard was a nice person and he was very sweet to her but she needed to collect her thoughts and focus on gaining her lost memories before thinking of taking that big step. Anger washed over as a new feeling of resentment overtook her emotions.“ How dare he make decisions for me?” She thought as she gathered her palm into a strong fist. She shook with so much anger she could rival an erupting volcano. She gasped as she realized, where did that powerful rage come from? She was confused. She thought she was just a weak, tiny girl who needed protection from her brother and her supposed mate but there she was feeling powerful all of a sudden. She breathed out to calm herself down. Her mind went to the strange woman the Alpha just killed and she pondered
Chapter 8.“ I have been waiting for you little one,” He said the moment Diana appeared at the clearing again. He moved closer to her and held her in his arms. He appeared to be sniffing her but suddenly remembered he wouldn't get anything from her since it was a dream.“ Wait are you a real person? Or you are just a figment of your imagination?” She asked slowly removing his arms from her body. He looked shocked and more hurt by her actions. He knew of her memory loss, that was why she kept using his dream-walking abilities on her but seeing her rejecting his touch felt like a torch against his bare skin.He put his emotions and damned mate bond aside as he masked his expression. He took another step towards again as he cornered her against the tree. He bends a little bit as he whispered“ Let me be your imagination for now”She shook her head angrily, tired of everyone keeping one or two things away from her. She hated both the dream world and the real world. No one tells her anyth
Chapter 9"They have been feeding her lies," Darryl said absentmindedly to Maurice, who stared at him with growing worry. The relentless weight of concern had settled on Maurice's shoulders like an oppressive cloak. His best friend, his king, was slipping away from him, consumed by bitterness and anger. Over the past three years, he had watched Darryl transform from the compassionate, respected leader Diana had shaped him into, back into the hard-hearted ruler he once was.Darryl's mate had been his beacon of light, the one who softened his rough edges, but now her race had torn that away from him. The transformation pained Maurice deeply; he hated seeing the king everyone once feared rather than the respected one Diana had made him.Maurice's mouth twisted with remembered resentment. He couldn't forget how those people had exploited Darryl's vulnerability, his soft side. He yearned for the Darryl who had shown patience in taming Decanal, the most feral of all the wolves."When the he
Chapter 10.Diana's eyes flew open when the sun hit her face. She wasn't asleep because she was thinking about her wolf and trying to bring back her memories at the same time. Howard had left her on the bed over an hour ago to take care of pack duties. She felt oddly uncomfortable in his arms but like always she said nothing. She stood up lazily from the bed, making her way to the bathroom to brush her teeth and take a bath. After washing her hair, she threw it into a bun allowing it to self dry. She made her way into the kitchen where she almost choked on her spit because Howard was cooking without a shirt on. She swallowed as she watched his perfectly sculpted back move following his arms muscles.Sensing her presence with his wolf instincts, he turned around almost giving her a brutal heart attack. She averted her gaze and stared at the floor but another part of her just wanted to look up and stare at his chiseled abs and six packs, and the v below his tummy which disappeared into
Chapter 11.Taking the advice of the strange voice, she left the passageway and made her way back to where Brittany left her but she couldn't recognize the spot again as she wandered around the second building. The words of that voice weighed heavily on her mind. She wondered why she could hear it and if the voice was trapped inside that locked storage room.Nothing ever makes sense since she woke up from that coma without her memories, she has two voices that invade her mind now and then but she is surrounded by people who will never tell her the truth and hide a lot of things from her. Even her supposed mate who was not supposed to hide anything from her hides many things from her. She made up her mind to come back and find a way to open that door even if she had to break it down. As she wandered around, she stopped in front of a large door at the sound of her brother's voice. Behind the large door was the Alpha's office. He sounded really angry as he yelled at Howard.“ Leonard I
Chapter 12.“ Where the hell have you been?” Alpha Leonard barked out the moment he saw Diana giggling at whatever Brittany said. She knew she was supposed to be scared under his heated glare but a rebellious part of her wanted to give him a snarky comeback instead.“ She was with me Alpha, I was just showing her...” Brittany jumped to her rescue before she could open her mouth but the Alpha cut her off.“ I'm asking my sister not you and I believe she has a mouth” He snapped and Brittany gulped in fear while Diana remained unfazed.“ I was bored and alone and I decided to ask Brittany to show me around the pack house” She replied with a shrug of her shoulders while moving closer to Howard who gave her a tight hug. She fit right into his arms and the anger on Leonard's face faded seeing his sister snuggling up with his Beta as it should be.“ You are not to go anywhere without telling me or your mate understood?” The Alpha said and she nodded yes, so close to saying “ Bite me” but sh
