Ivy's POV
As much as Lily's death had shaken us all, Chris said that he couldn't cancel his trip to wherever it was he had to go the next day.
So, early the next morning, we embarked on the journey, taking a different, more luxurious car this time.
I settled into the soft leather seat with a sigh. "You have a good choice when it comes to cars."
"I know."
"Oh, no need to be so modest," I replied, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
Chris shot me a glance. "Can't say I've ever been told that before."
"Really? I wonder why," I muttered dryly. I could see his lips twitching. I smiled despite myself. If I was being honest, I quite liked these little spats we had.
"I generally don't waste my time thinking about things like that."
"Yeah, you'd actually need a brain for t
Chris' POVCarefully, I laid Ivy back down, supporting her head on the back of the sofa so she was comfortable. As much as I didn't like doing this to her for the second time, it was necessary."She is a beautiful woman. And you seem to care about her quite a lot, Alpha," Thalia, ever the observant, commented.I simply nodded in response. "Can we start whatever ritual it is that you need to do?"Thalia nodded at me. "Let me just see her once."She walked over to Ivy before placing her hands on her head much like Gwen had done earlier before she began chanting.A few moments later, she stopped. "I understand what you meant before, Gwen. Call your sisters and bring the chalices, Gwen. We'll need all the help we can get if we are to break this spell."Gwen nodded before leaving the room.
Ivy's POVThe first thing I registered was a pounding headache, like there was a little man with a hammer inside my head and was beating it against my skull continuously.Immediately my hands went to my head and I groaned. Good God, had I somehow gotten drunk last night?Slowly, I opened my eyes, expecting to see light purple ceiling of my room, but the ceiling above me was painted a beautiful blue. Then, I looked around, realising that I wasn't in my room. For a brief moment, I panicked. But then one look at the tall, broad shouldered man pacing in the room and the events of the past few days came crashing down on me at once.It was almost insane the way my life had turned upside down in the past few days. But why was I lying down? What had happened?"Chris?" I called out to him and from one moment to the next, he was ri
Chris' POVI looked at Ivy worriedly. It had been two minutes since she started laughing and she still hadn't stopped.Had she gone crazy?"Gwen, no offence," she began breathlessly before breaking down into a fit of giggles again. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself down before speaking again. "Gwen, your mum's gone a bit loopy. You need to get her checked.""No, Ivy, she's not. Supernatural creatures do exist," Gwen told her which only caused her to giggle harder."Yeah? Next thing you're going to say is that you're a witch, too," she said, before she burst out laughing again at Gwen's nod.I had thought that it would be difficult to explain to Ivy about supernaturals but her reaction had taken me by surprise. I had expected her to get angry, to start shouting at me, even throw in a few insults and call us liars, but she was taking it
Ivy's POVI watched as Chris turned back into his human form, only he was completely naked. With a yelp, I turned around before I could see more than his sculpted chest, my cheeks turning red.Behind me, I could hear him moving. A moment later, I heard the sound of the car door opening and closing followed by the rustling of clothes. Then, his voice: "You can turn around, now, Ivy. I'm fully clothed."With a soft sigh, I turned around to see him dressed in a plain white shirt and black pants. Did he just casually carry a pair of clothes with him where ever he went?"As a matter of fact, I do," he told me, his lips twitching as he walked towards the entrance.I groaned as I followed behind him, my cheeks heating up. When was I going to learn to keep my thoughts to myself? It was only onc
Chris' POVI watched as Ivy ate, still looking less than relaxed. While it was understandable for her to feel stressed and worried- anyone would be after discovering such things- I still didn't like it.I didn't like seeing her troubled. And I knew that being in close contact with me relaxed her because of the mate bond so I took a seat next to her and held her hand as soon as we were finished eating and the witches had left to clear the plates.Sparks erupted and so did warmth and Ivy visibly relaxed, her shoulders slumping. "I'm really tired, Chris. Today has been pretty....eventful.""I know."She shook her head. "I don't understand this. Is my mom really a....witch? And my dad? Was he a werewolf like you? How could I not know?" she mumbled, talking more to herself than me.I squeezed her hand, bringing her attention to me. "Don't jump
Ivy's POVThe next four days went by with me learning what being a witch really was. I was a hybrid, yes, but Chris insisted that I begin learning about my witch side while we were still here at the coven of the witches and that he could always help me learn about my lycanthrope side when we were back at his house. So, I soaked up every single thing Thalia and Gwen told me. Sure, the spells were a little difficult to retain, but with a little practice, I was getting the hang of it. While we had started with a few basic spells, Thalia had taken care to teach me spells which were a little more dangerous, too with a warning that these were only to be used in self defense, and not to harm anyone unnecessarily.I had, naturally, agreed. I wasn't a megalomaniac to go around hurting people just for the heck of it. And she had told me to be careful with my emotions as well, specially anger. I was new to
Chris' POVPlease let her be okay. Please let her be okay.It was the only thought running through my head on a loop as the car hit the tree with a loud bang, the air bags deploying on the impact. That paired with the seat belt, saved us a lot, enough that we were both conscious."Ivy! Ivy are you okay?" I shouted at her."I'm okay, I'm okay. Are you fine?" She asked, her voice telling me she was fine, scared but fine.I breathed out a sigh of relief. And that was when something crashed into the side of the car I was in.Ivy shrieked as I looked at the large wolf trying to claw his way into the car. Judging by the long, dirty fur, it was clearly a rogue. So this was what had come in front of the car suddenly and caused this accident.Oh, this little shit was g
Ivy's POV"What happened? Why did the Alpha have to bring you like this?" Ryan asked me as soon as I stepped into the home with him."A lot of werewolves attacked us and our car crashed. We fought them off and then Chris brought us here," I explained quickly, rubbing a hand to my forehead. God, I was cold and I had a splitting headache. I hadn't been able to see much of what had been going on outside while Chris fought those werewolves off since I'd been focused on finding a spell to somehow help him out in the grimoire, but from what I could make out from all the sounds was that it had definitely been brutal.Ryan's eyebrows furrowed. "Werewolves? Why?"I shrugged, still cradling my head. "How would I know? All I know is that I helped as much as I could and we were able to get away.""You helped?" he asked, brows raised in surprise.
