"Annette? Why are you here?" Roxanne looked surprised when Annette showed up in the study room.
"Why?" Annette asked, puzzled.
"I saw Kyle heading to the dorm with a girl. Wasn't that you?" Roxanne said.
Annette was a college student at a werewolf university. She was lucky and met her mate Kyle here.
Kyle was Alpha's son, from the Crystal Pack. Luna Fiona, his mother, was the president of the university.
Annette and Kyle were an enviable couple at the werewolf university after they realized that they were mates.
Annette wondered why Roxanne asked. Then she felt a sharp pain in her heart, which spread rapidly through her body.
She pressed her chest and fell prone on the table.
"Annette, are you OK?" Roxanne sounded worried.
"I don't know. I felt a sudden pain in my heart and my body," Annette said, her face pale.
Roxanne said, "There are only two explanations, well, quotes from the teachers. First, your mate is dying."
"Dying?" A line etched between Annette's brows. "I don't think so. What about the other one?"
Roxanne hesitated and said awkwardly, "Well, maybe Kyle is cheating on you right now."
"That's impossible!" Annette almost shouted. She tossed her books into her bag and stormed out of the room.
Annette dashed toward Kyle's dorm, her pain growing worse as she ran.
She didn't believe Roxanne. Kyle was her mate and they were perfectly in love.
They were passionate about each other and there was no way that he would cheat on her.
The pain became unbearable as she stood outside Kyle's dorm.
She grasped the doorknob and twisted it slowly.
She walked in. Moans from a man and a woman came through the bedroom.
Annette knew the woman's voice. It belonged to Lena, her friend.
Lena gasped with lust. "Kyle, mark me!"
Annette darted to the bedroom.
She was stunned at the scene. Kyle was in bed with Lena, both of them naked.
Annette's vision blurred. Her eyes flooded with tears.
She heard the thud of pain under her chest, though she still found it hard to believe what was going on.
Lena saw Annette standing in the doorway. She screamed and wrapped herself in the quilt.
Kyle jumped off the bed. Lust faded from his eyes and he panicked.
"Annette, hear me out..."
Annette cut in, "I will reject you, Kyle!"
Kyle shouted, "No!"
Annette wiped her tears and took a few steps back. Then, she turned around and rushed out of Kyle's dorm.
Kyle almost ran after her but halted his steps because he was naked. He roared in rage.
Annette left the university crying. Though the physical pain was gone, her heartache was still killing her.
She was told that the Moon Goddess would choose mates for werewolves. So, the mates were meant for each other.
Just like Adam and Eve.
When she first met Kyle, she felt a bond between them. They called each other "mate" almost spontaneously.
There was a strong connection between the two of them.
Annette had never thought that Kyle would betray her.
She wondered, 'Would Kyle have done it if he'd known how much it would hurt me?'
She shook her head, trying to clear her mind.
Yet she failed. She couldn't get rid of the scene she just ran into. It stuck in her mind.
Annette figured that she needed to get drunk and numb herself.
She walked into a bar in a daze. Teachers from the werewolf university wouldn’t come here, and no one would judge her as a Hybrid or a Rogue.
After a few glasses of wine, she felt better as she was getting tipsy.
A man stepped into the bar at this time.
It was a tall and handsome man.
A bold idea occurred to Annette.
Kyle cheated on her and she wanted to get back at him the same way.
Annette staggered toward the man. Somehow, the man looked familiar. She ignored it since her visions were blurry.
Her brain wasn't working properly at the moment.
She threw herself at the man.
"Do you want to go somewhere?" She looked at him and asked bluntly.
"I hope you won't regret it." The man enveloped Annette.
Annette left the bar with the man. When she woke up, she found herself in bed.
The room was dark, so she could not see his face.
She felt pain as the man panted next to her ear.
She tried to push him away, but all her efforts went in vain.
She couldn't make a sound and hoped that he would stop.
The man's movements were rough, so she passed out again.
It was dawn as she opened her eyes again.
Annette looked around the room and began to remember what happened last night.
She sat up abruptly and felt a pain in her lower body.
The bathroom door was opened.
A man walked out.
She saw his face. It was him! She slumped on the bed, frightened.
The man had a bath towel wrapped around his lower body. He glanced at Annette and said in a cozy tone, "Hey, you."
Annette looked at the handsome man in front of her. She couldn't believe her eyes. She knew him, the man she had a one-night stand with. His name was Connor Norman, the Alpha of Blood Moon Pack, the largest pack in Akron.Connor was not just the Alpha of a pack. He was also the president of a listed company with great power and enviable wealth. In other words, he was not someone to be trifled with.Annette looked at Connor and said with a shivering voice, "Alpha Connor.""Take a shower first. We'll talk later." Connor picked up a bath towel and wrapped it around his body."There's nothing to talk about. I've got to go now," Annette said."Your name is Annette, right?" Connor said. "Don't you want to talk about last night?""Alpha Connor, I was drunk. Let's pretend nothing happened," Annette said in a calm tone.Connor was surprised. He looked at Annette. "Well, is there anything I can do for you?"Annette got his point and was slightly embarrassed."As far as I know, you are a Rogue a
Annette had a shift in the convenience store today. Though her mate had cheated on her, she still had to carry on with her life. After all, she was a Rogue and she needed the money since she wouldn't get support from any packs. When Annette reached the gate, a car stopped in front of her and it looked familiar. The doors opened, and two people got out of the car.It was Kyle and Lena.Annette halted her steps. She was going to turn around to avoid them, but Lena called her."Annette."Lena ran toward Annette from under the umbrella. She clasped Annette's hands."Annette, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. I'm such an awful person. I'll do anything, as long as you forgive me."Kyle dashed over and held the umbrella for Annette and Lena.Kyle looked at Annette with guilt on his face. "Annette, I don't know what got into me yesterday. I..."Annette looked at them standing in front of her. Her heart ached again, but this time, it was not as painful. She thought that such plots should only e
Annette asked Lena to move to another dorm. Her cold attitude made Lena angry."Why?" Lena stood up, looked at Annette, and said angrily, "Annette, Kyle sleeps with me, because he loves me. Do you still believe in what the teacher says about mates? We are not ancient werewolves. We aren't ancient beasts anymore, OK? You are making Kyle your slave, just because he is your mate. Kyle is a free man and compared with you, I'm more suited for him."Annette closed the book. She stood up to look at Lena with a cold and distant gaze.Annette said, "If ignoring the connection between mates and having an affair is what he wants, then you are right. I'm not the right person for him. Because I don't sleep around like him. Also, I said that I would reject him. So, only one of us can stay in this dorm.""Is that so? Then you should move out. I won't," Lena raised her head and said complacently.Annette smiled coldly, "Fine. You'd better not regret it.""So? Do you want to challenge me? Don't forget
"Connor, this young lady is..."The female werewolf asked politely, though she seemed surprised to see Annette.Connor smiled and said, "This is Annette, my brother's tutor.""Nice to meet you, Annette. I'm Alina Grace."Annette shook hands with Alina and said, "Hello, Ms. Grace."Connor sat down and said, "Please, be seated."Annette took a seat next to him.Alina tore her eyes away from Annette and looked at Connor. She said gently, "I was worried that I would disturb your work by asking you out for lunch.""No. I brought Annette together with me. You don't mind, right? After all, she and I had an appointment first."Alina shook her head and smiled, "Not at all. I'm glad to see her. I've already ordered the dishes you like. I don't know what Annette prefers. I'll get someone to bring you the menu."Annette waved her hand. "It's OK, Ms. Grace."Connor stroked Annette's head gently. He gazed at her softly and said, "We love the same food."Alina's smile froze. However, she smiled agai
Annette's face lit up with joy. She immediately ran towards him. Then she opened her arms and hugged him."Austin, when did you return to Akron?" Annette looked at Austin and asked."Alpha Lance was injured, so I came back early," Austin let go of Annette and replied with a smile.Annette did not notice a car parked by the side of the road. Connor was sitting in the car. He saw Annette and Austin holding each other through the window and frowned. To his surprise, Annette was friends with Austin Fisher, the son of Lance Fisher, Black Thorn Pack's Alpha. Also, it seemed that Annette and Austin were very close.Annette heard Austin's words, and she looked a little embarrassed."Ann, come back with me to Black Thorn Pack and visit Alpha Lance," Austin persuaded Annette."Austin, I am not a member there. I cannot step into the border of the pack without permission," Annette said coldly."I can bring you in!" Austin immediately said."No need, Austin. I know my identity," Annette refused Au
Annette said angrily, "I don't know you well enough to share secrets, so stop meddling in my business. And you promised me you'd keep it a secret.""Of course. I have never mentioned it to others. You are the person involved, aren't you?""Then what do you mean by bringing this up all the time?" Annette said, trying to hold back her anger."I'm just rebutting what you said based on what you said. You are not the only outsider living under this roof. It is not against the law. You are no different from my other employees. I will provide you with food and accommodation. It's as simple as that."After Connor finished speaking, his housekeeper walked in.Connor looked at Annette and said, "You can start working now."Annette looked at Connor's back as he left. She felt that she should be angry, but she was not.In fact, she had planned to move out of the dorm. Now that she had a temporary place to stay, she could take her time looking for suitable accommodation.Annette collected her thou
Connor glared at the driver through the rearview mirror. The driver immediately shifted his gaze away and focused on driving."What happened?"Annette and Connor sat in the back of the car. After nearly five minutes of silence, Connor finally opened his mouth."Nothing. It's just that... I find it funny watching people in fancy cars get stuck in traffic. It turns out that money can't do everything.""She is lying," Leo said to Connor.Connor felt a little dissatisfied. He asked, "Then why were you crying?""Because I'm poor. I'm not even qualified to sit in my car and complain about the traffic, since I don't have a car."Connor glanced at Annette. He knew that she was lying again. He remembered that though Annette had a driver's license, she didn't know how to drive.Connor said to the driver, "Leonard, stop the car."Leonard hurriedly pulled over."Leonard, you're off duty."Leonard looked back. He was a little worried. Before Leonard could say anything, Connor's gaze turned cold. "
Annette did not respond to Kyle. She wanted to pull her hand out of his wrist, but he held it so tightly that she could not break free."Let go.""Are you embarrassed that I saw through you? Didn't you ever think I'd find out sooner or later? My mother is the one who gave you the job."Kyle roared in pain. She looked at him, her face full of grievance and anger. He said coldly, "What is it? Why don't you say something? Annette, why did you use me?""Your mother has talked to me countless times, and the subject has always been the same. She wants me to break up with you, and I get to stay here and be a teacher by doing so."Her voice was not exactly loud, but he heard it very clearly."I have been a good student and hardworking. I believed that I was good enough to work at the university, though I knew that the woman in power did not like me and that I might be disqualified. Yet, in the face of Fiona's repeated threats, I had never thought of compromising, because I believed in myself
