Chapter 2

Annette looked at the handsome man in front of her. She couldn't believe her eyes.

She knew him, the man she had a one-night stand with.

His name was Connor Norman, the Alpha of Blood Moon Pack, the largest pack in Akron.

Connor was not just the Alpha of a pack. He was also the president of a listed company with great power and enviable wealth.

In other words, he was not someone to be trifled with.

Annette looked at Connor and said with a shivering voice, "Alpha Connor."

"Take a shower first. We'll talk later." Connor picked up a bath towel and wrapped it around his body.

"There's nothing to talk about. I've got to go now," Annette said.

"Your name is Annette, right?" Connor said. "Don't you want to talk about last night?"

"Alpha Connor, I was drunk. Let's pretend nothing happened," Annette said in a calm tone.

Connor was surprised.

He looked at Annette. "Well, is there anything I can do for you?"

Annette got his point and was slightly embarrassed.

"As far as I know, you are a Rogue and don't belong to any pack. I don't think your life is easy. So, if you need my help, say it now." Connor dried his body with a towel and then threw it to the ground casually.

Annette acted indifferently and said, "No, I'm fine. But just this one thing, please keep this between us."

"That's it?"

"Yes," Annette sounded serious.

Connor sized Annette up. Then, he nodded expressionlessly.

Annette got dressed, looking slightly embarrassed. She packed her things in haste and left the room.

"She smells like a mate to me," Leo said in Connor's mind.

Leo was Connor's wolf.

"Our mate won't be a Rogue," Connor said nonchalantly.

"Then how do you explain your behavior last night? We won't be attracted by some werewolf that isn't our mate," Leo insisted.

Connor recalled that he had indeed lost control last night, but he thought it was because Annette was in heat, so he was attracted to her.

Annette rushed out of the hotel and let out a sigh of relief.

In Akron, Connor represented power, wealth, and danger.

She heard that Connor killed the Blood Moon Pack's former Alpha and replaced him.

Annette was aware that she should stay away from him.

She planned to sleep with someone to get revenge on Kyle, but she should never have slept with Connor.

Plus, Blood Moon Pack and Black Thorn Pack had always been enemies. Despite territorial disputes, they were also business rivals.

If the werewolves of Black Thorn Pack knew that Annette had slept with Connor, she would be in huge trouble.

Annette checked the time. It was now 8:30 in the morning. She still had time to grab a cup of coffee before returning to the university.

Then, her phone rang.

She looked at the incoming number and picked it up with hesitation.

"Alpha Connor?"

"You can join Blood Moon Pack if you want. Or you can tell me what you want. But you can't ask to be my mate. I will never let a Hybrid be the Luna of my pack." Connor's cold voice came through the phone.

"Alpha Connor, you got me wrong. I wasn't trying to set you up. I was simply drunk yesterday. I won't join your pack and I don't think we should see each other again."

Annette hung up the phone after she finished speaking.

"Well, well, Alpha Connor is rejected by a Rogue," Leo mocked.

Connor frowned and ignored Leo.

He had a feeling that Annette tried to stay away from him.

But this wasn't up to her!

He stared at the phone screen though she had already hung up.

He thought, 'Annette, no one ever hung up on me before.'

Annette left the block in a hurry. After she arrived at the university, a classmate told her that the president wanted to see her.

She came to the president's office with a sullen face.

"Annette, what did you do? Kyle was so miserable yesterday." Fiona was the president of the werewolf university and she was in a nicely tailored dress. She looked at Annette in disgust.

Annette's heart ached again when she heard Kyle's name.

Fiona got more agitated since Annette did not say a word.

"Annette, I want you to break up with my son!" Fiona stood in front of her desk and looked down at Annette.

"Fiona, Kyle is my mate," Annette said in a flat tone, ignoring her arrogant attitude.

"I want you to swear to the Moon Goddess and reject Kyle." Fiona continued with a cold voice, "One day, Kyle will be Alpha of Crystal Pack. And his future Luna will not be a Hybrid, not to mention a Rogue. If you agree to break up with Kyle, I'll offer you a job at the university."

In the old days, Annette would never consider her offer, but not anymore.

Annette said without hesitation, "I will reject Kyle. I want to work at the werewolf university."

Fiona was surprised.

Annette's answer was different from before.

"After I give you the job, will you keep your word?"

"If you don't trust me, I can write it down for you. I will break up with Kyle."

"Good. Very good. Just remember what you've promised me."

"I will."

It had been raining heavily. Annette walked out of the office building.

She dashed into the rain.
