Chapter 8

Ian felt something off.

Yesterday, when he received that alarm reminding him someone broke into his apartment, he was in his office. He quickly turned on the surveillance that he installed to watch Amelia and then saw a big scary wolf barge into the living room.

“Fuck!!!” He cursed, and quickly rushed out of the office.

The moment he pushed open the door, he found himself going into a different place or world.

In front of him was a big living room under dim yellow lights. There were sofas, TVs, and teenage boys and girls, laughing and making fun with each other.

Seeing him walk into the door, a young male wolf seemed about 17 or 18 walked towards him. He had curly brown hair and a pair of kind blue eyes. When he spoke to Ian, he wore this big, lively smile, “Where have you been, Ian?” He patted Ian’s shoulder, “The Alpha and Luna are looking for you for your wedding with Amelia. They are waiting on the second floor.”

His voice and gesture were as familiar as his appearance. Ian recognized him as his best friend Jim, but was a little younger.

Ian was puzzled by this weird phenomenon. He lifted his brows and looked around, and soon realized that he went back to his old packhouse.

The furniture and interior decorations of the living room were exactly the same as he remembered, even those young wolves playing with each other were familiar to him, but looked younger like Jim.

Ian couldn’t help but twist his brows even tighter. Jim rushed him with confusion, “What’s going on, Ian? Why don’t you speak? The Alpha and Luna are waiting. You should go to meet them.”

“What year is it? And what’s the date today?”

Recalling what Jim just said about his wedding with Amelia, Ian soon realized what was happening here—He was somehow sent back to two years ago, right before his wedding with Amelia.

And what Jim said next confirmed his assumption, “Today? Today is March 14th 2021. Why the question?” Jim was confused by the weird actions of his best friend, but he soon showed an amused smile, “Are you stressed out because of the wedding? I thought you won’t have any problems with it. You have been acting so cool all along.”

“Of course, I don’t have problems with my wedding. I am just…a bit tired.”

Though amazed by the current situation, Ian succeeded in maintaining his composure and his charming smile.

“I will meet the Alpha now. Thanks a lot, Jim.” He nodded to Jim, then quickly rushed to the corner of the stairwell. He remembered there was a full-length mirror and soon, he saw a familiar figure in it.

The person reflected in the mirror was indeed him, but younger like in his 19. He was strong, smart, calm, and looked surprisingly vibrant.

Ian couldn’t help but narrow his eyes. He was startled by all of these, but he wasn’t a person who would get panic easily.

After a brief consideration, Ian quickly went to the second floor as Jim told him. In the kitchen, there was the pack’s Alpha James, Luna Doris, Amelia’s big sister Donna, the Beta couple, and other important grown-ups in the pack, which was exactly the same as Ian remembered.

“Sorry I am late.” While stepping into the kitchen, Ian apologized with a polite and attractive smile.

James nodded at him. His voice was kind and caring as he always was, “It’s alright, son. Let’s start now.”

Donna was laughing at him just as he remembered, “It’s alright, Ian. I know grooms will panic right before their wedding. Just promise me, you won’t run away in the middle of it.” Her words were exactly the same as he remembered too.

Ian presented her with an amused smile, “Please give me some faith, Sis. Amelia is the love of my life. How could I ever run away from my wedding with her?” This time, he gave a slightly different answer.

But there were no weird chain reactions caused by it. Donna just kept teasing him as she always liked to, “Then promise me you’ve gotten her the biggest diamond ring in the world. I’d like to see you two become the model couple of this area.”

Ian gave her an affirmative answer, “Of course, I have. I’ve prepared the biggest surprise for her,” like a dose of magic drug which would put her into motionless status forever.

Donna thought he was talking about some other really sweaty things between loved couples. She groaned with childish envy on her pretty face, “I am so jealous of you and Amelia. Ian, you are such a great guy, and Amelia is such a sweet girl. You two will be the loveliest couple in the world.”

“Your husband is a great man too. And he is lucky to have a wife like you.” Ian replied to her with a charming smile.

And then, suddenly, Ian heard a string of hurried footsteps come from the stairwell, along with Amelia’s excited voice which was rare but refreshing.

“Mom, Dad!” She called her parents with great ecstasies in her voice, rushing into the kitchen with a pair of beautiful sparkling eyes.

Ian had never seen her acting like that before. He was thrilled the moment he saw her.

He looked at the young Amelia attentively with his deep grey eyes. But he soon realized that the moment their eyes connected, her enthusiastic joyfulness turned to fear.

Amelia had always been afraid of him, thus, Ian didn’t feel odd at the time. But he did notice something different about her—When she looked at him, the fear in her eyes was slightly stronger and tinged with a tempting taste of despair.

Ian suddenly found that right now she was somehow more attractive than he remembered.

“Are you okay, baby?”

He walked towards her and pulled her hands to his lips to kiss her delicate fingers. Before he drugged Amelia into a motionless stone, he always kissed her like that, enjoying tasting her pathetic happiness generated from his most fake love. Ian had no idea why he had such a huge interest in her. It just happened.

Amelia cried at his “gentle” but intimidating gaze. He saw her eyes turn red.

“We are not married yet?”

She asked a ridiculous but the cutest question with her timid sweet voice out of the blue. It dispelled Ian’s doubts about her sudden change—He thought she must be afraid of not being able to marry him.

“I have never known you are so eager for me.” He bent over with a satisfied smile, whispering to her the sweetest answer in the world, “I am eager for you, too, baby. I can’t wait for you to be my wife. And then I will be able to do so many unspeakable things…only to you.”

He brushed his hot lips slightly across her cold ear and then escorted her to her bedroom.

Amelia lowered her head and kept silent all the way. Ian didn’t pay much attention to her as now he was so obsessed with his new discovery.

This young Amelia just showed up in front of him was different from what he remembered but somehow so much hotter and more attractive.

Ian couldn’t wait for their wedding night to do those horrible things to her all over again, or this time, even more.

“We are so going to marry again and this time, I promise I will try more different magic potions only on you.”

After sending Amelia to her bedroom door, Ian encaged her between himself and the wall, with his head filled with all kinds of twisted and heavily sick methods. He bent over his neck to kiss his future wife, thanking the Moon Goddess for giving him a second chance to torture her.

When his lips brushed across her delicate skin, he couldn’t help but heavily breathe her beautiful scent. Just thinking about the things he was going to do to her, Ian had already gotten a hard erection.

He wanted to bite her lips to make her bleed and cry in pain but as well as feel happy just the way he liked it, but Amelia surprisingly dodged him this time. And she asked him, “What if we don’t get married?”

She went against him with her cute scared eyes still sparkling with tears. That had never happened before. Ian was amazed by her bold behavior, but he didn’t think about it further.

“There is never an if, baby.” He answered her with a deceptive, cruel smile and comforted her, “You’re the love of my life. We are fated with each other. I swear you will find no husband except me.”

Tears rolled down Amelia’s cheeks after she heard this desperate answer, but she said nothing, and just went back to her bedroom silently.

Ian’s curiosity was aroused by her abnormal behavior, but he didn’t waste too much time on her, as he was eager to figure out his current situation.

He went back to his bedroom and checked all his dangerous secret stuff. They were exactly the same as when he was 19. Not a single thing was changed. He was indeed sent back to the past. But he had no idea why this happened.

“Time travel? I don’t buy this stupid thing. There must be some reasons…”

He quickly scrutinized the packhouse but found nothing unusual, and then he went out to check the forest outside.

When he heard Amelia open her window, he just stepped into the woods. He quickly hid behind trees and saw Amelia run to the rogues’ territory with a backpack on her shoulders. It was obvious that she was going to run away from their wedding as well as, from him.

That wasn’t what happened in the past. It was not even related to the past. Ian was amazed by Amelia’s behavior again, but he didn’t chase after her. Instead, he went to her bedroom to check on her staff.

He opened her bedroom door and soon found her note on the desk. She put her cute duck-shaped coffee cup on it.

Ian picked up the note and saw she wrote, “Mom, Dad, I am sorry, but I can’t marry Ian. Please don’t worry. I will be fine on my own. P.S. there will be a rogue attack tomorrow night. Please be aware.”

The moment he read it, Ian narrowed his deep grey eyes. He crumpled that piece of paper into a ball, clutching it into his fist, and then he stretched his lips to a cold and cruel smile.

The answer was obvious.

Now he knows, Amelia is just like him. She comes back from her tragic future.
