ELIAS’S POV

“I’m not about to die here, so you can either join me or keep this demon company in my stead.” With those final words, Evelyn leapt into the portal just as Dante lunged for her. The portal shut shortly before his claws could reach her throat, and his body stumbled forward when he grabbed nothing but air. She was gone.

The male hunter looked conflicted as he glanced from the hunter in my arms to the portal that was steadily closing behind him.

His expression was one of pain as he stared at Allison.

“I’ll be back for you, Al. I promise.” With those parting words, he dived for the portal, somehow making it to the other side before it shut.

I heard the hunter heave a sigh of what I assumed was relief, but a loud roar soon buried the sound.

Dante, looking ever so furious, turned his attention to the hunter and me, now that the witch was gone. There was no hint of recognition in his fiery eyes as he glared at us.

But of course, he didn’t recognise us. He was no different from a

  • His Little Hunter   Chapter 52

ELIAS’ POVThe hunter’s large eyes were wide and brimmed with tears, her body quaking as she stared at the man in my hand. One would have thought I had her firstborn child in my hands from the way her smallish frame trembled. It only increased my ire at the man in my grasp and my grip on his neck tightened.“Please! Let him go.” She cried out, stalking slowly towards us.“And why would I do that?” I questioned, easing my grip on the man’s neck ever so slightly. His gasp was audible as he greedily sucked in air, his struggles increasing now that he was no longer on the brink of suffocation. I paid him no heed, however, my attention still on the ever-captivating human before me. She was now covered in dirt after I’d tossed her and little branches clung to her tussled hair, but even in this state, I could think of no one who held a candle to her beauty. “What could you offer me in return for showing this hunter mercy?”Her hands, clasped together, fidgeted at my question and her lips pre

  • His Little Hunter   Chapter 51

ELIAS’S POVShe sat perched on the wall with her legs crossed, her expression one of bored indifference as she stared down at me.“You’re a lot more hot-headed than I expected. Maybe this won’t be so hard after all.” I slammed a fist forward and my hand bounced off like it had connected with reinforced glass.Dammit!A normal barrier should have broken under that force. She was strong, possibly strong enough to rival Mel and I didn’t mean that lightly. Mel was a force to be reckoned with. She had the power to fell an entire city with a single spell. Even her fellow Wiccans feared her to an extent.I slammed my fist against the barrier once more, and like the first time, it didn’t budge. The hunter and that man had pulled away from their hug. Now, they stood, his two hands cupping her cheeks as his eyes darted over her face in search of any injuries.“He didn’t hurt you, did he?” That gentle tone of his voice was like added fuel to the flame already burning in my chest.“All that matte

  • His Little Hunter   Chapter 50

ELIA’S POV“You damned fool!” A female screamed at his side, her oddly coloured eyes blazing with fury as she glared at her partner. How hadn’t I sensed their presence until now?‘You were too distracted by the female in your arms.’“Let her go.” The male started, ignoring his raging partner. His eyes were frigid, locked on me as the weapon remained steady in my direction. I recognised him; he was the bastard who had been with my bride at the warehouse that night. The one that had seemed too friendly for a colleague. “Or the next bullet that flies goes through your skull.”If his presence on my property wasn’t already a reason for me to direct my ire at him, the memory of him holding my bride so intimately that night was more than enough. I wasn’t a fan of hunters, but I especially wasn’t fond of him.“Is that supposed to be a threat?” I sneered, the hunter male getting my full attention now.Another bullet was fired, only this one grazed the side of my face before it hit the ground b

  • His Little Hunter   Chapter 49

ELIAS’S POVThe sun only posed a minor inconvenience as I made my way to the balcony. I looked over the railing at the ground below. Did that stubborn female really jump from this height?Of course not. I soon found the makeshift rope she’d made hanging off the bottom railing. Now I knew where the missing bedsheet went.Despite my annoyance, I found myself being impressed by her. What a clever wench. She couldn’t have made it far. Not even half an hour had passed since I’d left her alone in the room. I gazed ahead and as I suspected, the hunter hadn’t made it too far. In the far distance, a small figure, looking no larger than an ant from where I stood, hurried away. She’d only reached the edge of the forest when I caught sight of her. Still, it was impressive that she’d covered that much distance already.“You really have your hands full with her,” Melissa said as she came up to the balcony beside me. Her hand hovered above her eyes, shielding them from the lowering sun as she watche

  • His Little Hunter   Chapter 48

ELIAS’ POVI stood outside the bedroom, my back to the door as I reeled from what had just happened.I tried to kiss the hunter.I tried to kiss my brother’s murderer. How could I have tried something so ridiculously stupid? No matter how appealing she looked in that moment, I wasn’t some mutt with no self-control. Why did I try to kiss her?The image of the hunter pressed into the mattress beneath me flashed in my mind and my hands balled into tight fists. My knee had been nudged between her legs, pressed tightly against the most intimate part of her. She’d worn no underwear, so I’d felt her warmth directly against the fabric of my trews. She’d been wet. The faint scent of her arousal had clung to the air, tempting me further to cross that invisible line that shouldn’t be crossed. Her nipples had been puckered points straining against the thin fabric of my shirt. Her body called for me, begging to be touched. To be tasted. Her pale skin had been flushed and those hazel eyes had peere
