Chapter 66

Ember’s POV

“You need your strength.” are the last words I say to Lottie before I block her out. I can’t heal her body after using her elemental abilities. She has never used that much energy and her human body needs to regenerate. I just don’t know how long it will take.

I do as she asks though and go through the woods towards her mom’s house. Wolves surround the place. There must be around 20 of them. Either they are guarding the house to stop anyone getting in or to stop anyone from getting out. Either way, the house appeared quiet. In theory, this would be the first place Lottie would head to if she escaped.

There is no way I am getting in there. I needed to keep moving before the rest of Edward’s followers found me. I began running. I'm running without knowing where I'm headed. After a lot of running, I came across a stream. I take a long drink and take the opportunity to catch my breath. I am hungry, but I can eat next time I stop.
