MAEVEI gradually managed to regain my composure. I felt my flustered cheeks returning to a normal temperature. Once I was confident that my face no longer had a comparable colour to Red Skull from Captain America, I decided to take a seat on the sofa. I idly watched Bain pack some clothes into a suitcase. "So, Alpha Bain" I started. "I've already told you to call me Maddox." He interrupted. "I'm sorry, Maddox." I tried his name out."In all honesty, it just feels a little odd. You know, calling you 'Maddox'. Your whole persona screams authoritative. Which makes it difficult, not to refer to you as an Alpha." I reasoned. He listened to my explanation, whilst continuing to pack and shrugged his heavy shoulders nonchalantly. "I don't know what to suggest to you Maeve. But it would make me feel uncomfortable, to have you refer to me as Alpha. You're my mate, my equal." He finished. "Maybe you could somehow make yourself seem less authoritative around me? Less threatening somehow?"

MAEVEI knew we were fast approaching the Sabre Pack. The short drive made me realise how close I'd been to my pack the entire time. I had felt so alone, and isolated whilst in Alpha Carson's estate. MAEVE"You know, you didn't have to be so mean to him." I mumbled, as we drove down the long road leading to the pack's main town. It was approximately 10 miles, from the guarded gate to the actual pack. It helped to ensure the humans didn't accidentally come across our town. "To who?" Maddox asked in return. "Luke..." MADDOXI laid there and watched my mate sleep. I dared not move in case I woke her. I'm surprised it took her as long as it did to break down. I had known it was coming, no one could have gone through what she had the last few days and not have cracked. I was beginning to understand why the Moon Goddess had paired me with her. MAEVEI frantically looked around the room trying to find Maddox. I could hear someone running up the stairs, what if it was Alpha Carson, what if they'd come back for me and taken Maddox away? MAEVEWe walked hand in hand, through the hallway of the estate. My eyes wondered over the off white walls, and the pictures that hung there. So much had changed in such a short space of time that it was difficult to process, I hadn't had time to think, to understand or to grieve. One picture in particular caught my attention. It was a picture of my mother and I standing in the clearing. The same clearing where my life had been turned upside down, less than a week before now. The memory surrounding the picture was so vivid. My papa had taken the picture. Mother joking about how this one was definitely going on the wall, how she was always the one behind the camera, catching the memories, she was so happy that she finally got to be in one of the pictures that we could one day look back on and cherish.
