Willow POV We’d been here for over 2 weeks now and I was starting to lose my mind. Brett was really struggling with the lack of pack knowledge and I felt incredibly guilty that he was here with me and not with his pack. I had told him countless times to go and I would wait here. He then would say he wasn’t leaving me. I would then suggest going with him and he would argue that it wasn’t safe for me right now. We sparred each other every day. I couldn’t beat Brett at all. He had a very powerful wolf and my bindings slowed me down. Lugh would pop in every other day to bring us groceries and update us with what he new. I was restless that his sister was wasting our time and even though I hadn’t met her yet, she was starting to irritate me. Today was 14th December, 1 week before the winter solstice. I missed my family, friends and the pack. I just wanted to go home now. I was deflated and didn’t really care any more. I didn’t share this with Brett, I was happy to be with him but my mi
Orla POV I could sense the power binding Willow. It was of a coven strength. I knew exactly which coven. I had arrived here later than expected. I had been visiting my witchcraft links to strengthen alliances and gather information. She was younger than I expected and judging by her running, in a lover’s tiff. Lugh had done well with his protection spell…but judging by his face when Willow hit the barrier, he didn’t expect quite the reaction it caused. He seemed to care for this girl. He hadn’t been the same since we left our original coven and I worried I was taking him down a path he shouldn’t be following. The Alpha Wolf picked his mate up and raced back to the house placing her upstairs on the bed. “Help her, she can’t heal.” He looks to Lugh with panic in his eyes. Lugh whispers an incantation that allows wounds to heal faster. I raise an eyebrow to him and he scowls at me. I walk out of the room and down the stairs to start making a remedy for Willow for when she wakes u
Willow POV “Remove it!” “Pardon?” Lugh’s sister Orla said to me. “I want it gone!” I demand. “No!” She responds coldly. “No?” I stand up. “Wils what are you talking about?” Brett holds my arm. “The magic. I want it gone. I’m done. I’m done being a puppet. I want it gone now!” I scream before collapsing into Brett’s arms and sobbing into his chest. He strokes my hair softly to comfort me.“I know baby, I know.” “Who is this Cara?” Brett asks. “She is from our original coven, our family pack if you will.” Orla answers. “She is working with Ashley?” “Mmm it would seem so.” Orla nods.“Why is your family coven attacking my mate? Brett growls. Orla sighs and closes her eyes as she places her hands on the table. “Our parents were the head witch and warlock of the coven. Our coven was the most respected in the country, very influential. Our parents passed when we were young. We were 7 at the time. Obviously too young to take over the coven. So our Uncle became regent until we
Willow POVBrett argued with Orla for sometime but I could see it in Lugh’s facial expressions that she was right. After some time I convinced him that he had to leave. Orla and Lugh left us to say our goodbyes before Brett left in an hour’s time. He was packing his bag upstairs whilst I was folding up the recently laundered clothes in the kitchen. He walks downstairs dropping the bag on the floor. “I can’t go Wils, I can’t leave you!” “I know, but it’s only for a few days. You know I am safe here and I will call you every day. As many times as you want.” I sadly smiled at him. He nodded, his shoulders slumped. Tears start to run down my face at the prospect of not seeing him for a while and I race to him almost knocking him over. I sob into his chest before drying my tears and looking up at him. He tilts my head up by my chin and kisses me deeply. “I love you.” He whispers into my ear. “I love you too.” I whisper back. He kisses me one more time and he heads to the door. He s
Cara POVI couldn’t believe I heard her. A voice that I hadn’t heard for so long. A voice that was dead, or so I had been told. Orla Hallam, the golden princess of the river rocks. Her twin brother Lugh, Orla and I grew up together. But after their parent’s tragic deaths they were never the same and illness took them. Or so their Uncle led us to believe. I had been sold, sold to do magic like a servant. Financial and political gain, that’s all he cared about. He had ruined the coven. Those, too scared to fight him did his bidding, those looking to challenge him were sold off or killed. He threatened to kill my family if I didn’t go. So I went to take Shannon’s place 3 year’s after she died. What I wasn’t expecting is that Shannon had been here and already done quite a lot of damage to this Onara Eardwulf. But, without realising the magic was being put on Onara.Shannon left me clues as to the bindings already on her and this mad Alpha wanted me to increase the spells. He certainly
Willow POV It was the 20th December. Lugh and Orla had been with me pretty much all the time since Brett left. They had seen me in my wolf form everyday to read the markings to prepare the coven for the community spell. I had met the coven a number of times now. Lugh was right, they were such kind and welcoming people. They even showed me certain herbal teas to help for small health remedies. They had a large village cauldron that they used for group spells and they seemed excited to be using it again. A small group of children enjoyed playing with my wolf. I let them sit on my back and take them for small rides, like a donkey really. I joked to them that I would have to charge soon. They also enjoyed touching my fur and looking at the gold markings on me. I was even the main subject in one of the teaching groups. Which Lugh kept laughing at me about. It was coming up to evening time and we all decided to have a group meal cooked by the elders to welcome me into their coven. I do
Brett POVI was going mad with worry. I could feel Willow’s emotions through the bond and her pain just as we reached the field to meet Ashley. Orla had warned me of the pain I would feel through the bond but not to worry about Willow. I could already smell the rogues flanking Ashley’s men around the back. Did he think we were stupid. That we didn’t know about the rogue attacks. Jeremy stood next to me along with Louis, Alpha Nick and my Father. Our betas Thomas and Aidan were also with us watching Ashley’s warriors getting nearer. On face value we outnumbered the McCoy pack. I had warriors attend from each of our northern packs as well as our home pack. The Johnson pack has always been unrivalled with their warrior training and we stood a good chance of winning this. However, I didn’t know how many rogues were in hiding around the woods that ran behind the field. I could smell them, but couldn’t see them. Ashley walks closer to us with his Beta Rick. Alpha Nick, Jeremy and Louis
Willow POV I was running again…running like my life depended on it. I was in wolf form heading back to my family pack. Dread hit me when I smell a scent in the air of blood as I headed to that same field. By the time I reached it a war had broken out. I started to race towards the centre when the vision stopped and my eyes opened. “Ssh Lugh, it was the only way.” I heard Orla’s voice next to me. I tried to sit up when I felt cold hands touch my face. “Willow…how do you feel?!” Lugh asked me, helping me stand up. “Like I’ve been hurled around in a washing machine.” I just about finish to say before I bend over and empty the entire contents of my stomach. “A tad dizzy.” I smiled at him. All eyes were on me and everyone was stepping in closer to me. Orla’s next move surprises me. She pulls my hair behind my shoulders before asking me. “Do you feel strong enough to shift?” I still felt queasy but I could see all the hopeful eyes looking at me. “We want to see if the markings are
