Brett POV

“Why, why must you lads test my patience! You know the McCoy pack grounds are off limits and you testing their boundary control does not help with our ongoing relations issues.” Alpha Nicholas pleads with us.

“We were just testing our scouting skills.” Jeremy explains giving me a side wink.

“Plus, Ash was a prick at school today, we wanted to teach him a lesson.”

“Oh yes, breaking on to pack territory and what…throwing eggs like it’s bloody Halloween would have been a fucking good idea?” Nicholas says raising his voice to us.

“At least they would have had breakfast sorted.” Jeremy whispers to me. Both of us muffling our laughter.

A loud bang jumps us back to Nicholas’ line of vision. He had smacked his hand on the hard wooden desk and half stood up to unleash his Alpha aura.

“Enough! No more. Boys you are meant to be young men setting a good example to the pack youth. Brett, your Father will also hear about this and no doubt feel the same exasperation as me.

I want you both to stop this stupid rivalry with Ashley. Jeremy when you become Alpha of this pack you need to put emotions aside for the good of the pack, which includes making decisions to improve relations. With us being a home county pack, we need to be on good terms with local packs. You know the Vampires run London, we need to stay on good terms to share intel.” Alpha Nick sighs sitting back down.

“Maybe I should cancel your 18th birthday bash Jeremy.” He threatens.

“What? Dad, no, it’s all planned.” Jeremy starts to panic.

“I’m sorry, we won’t do it again. Plus, both Brett and I are off to university after the summer, we won’t be around Ash and his clowns.”

“We are sorry Alpha Nicholas.” I cut in. “We will do better and aim to make you and my father proud.”

With that Alpha Nicholas motions for us to leave him alone.

After Jeremy shuts the door to his father’s office. He lets out a deep breath.

“I think we got away with that.” He suggests.

“Bloody close, we need to work on our stealth mode.” I say as we walk along the corridor towards the large open planned kitchen. Jeremy opens a cupboard and throws a packet of tortilla chips at me before grabbing two bottles of beers from the fridge.

“Hello darling!” Jeremy’s mother, Eve, says giving him a warm embrace.

“Hello Brett, I hope you two haven’t been getting into trouble?”

“Hello Luna Eve.” I greet her by kissing her cheek. “Are you off out?” I ask.

“Yes, Brett dear. I have an errand to run with Louis. Can you both keep an eye on Willow and the girls please. I overheard them whispering about the three of them meeting up with Samantha’s boyfriend tonight.”

“Over my dead body!” Jeremy cuts in.

“Well, I’ll leave them in your capable watchful eyes shall I?” She smiles with a wink to her right eye as she leaves the kitchen, no doubt to round up Louis, Jeremy’s little brother.
