Chapter 8

"Your highness, did you hear? The Argans plan to attack,I might have to leave for the Battle field soon". Eitan said on one knee bowing to Darius

Darius sighs "It's a shame,you just got back from war now you set to fight another one,I wish there was something we could do about this never ending battles".

" Perhaps we can ask the Oracle for a solution?".

Darius eyes widen "Of course, summon her here at once".

Eitan stands on his feet and bows to Diarus one last time as he exist his presence.

Baara was sited at the garden with the books the queen gave to her, she stared at them " I wonder what all these words mean, they are a lot".

She suddenly sees Dorothy holding gardening tools walking towards her, a smile appears on her face, but to her surprise she walks passed her, Baara was shocked, she never imagined that her best friend would just ignore her, maybe she didn't just see her.

Baara walks to Dorothy who was aggressively trimming the plants, she clears her throat "I see you're no longer doing the night shift". Dorothy doesn't respond "I've missed you so much". She still doesn't say anything " Dorothy I'm talking to you!".

Dorothy suddenly turns to her and bows "Your grace".

Baara scoffs "What are you doing? You're being totally unfair to me".

" Unfair? I nearly lost my life because of you, and you just continue, if you get caught do you know what the king will do to you?".

"I-I have it under control".

" I'm tired of this, and I'm not ready to risk my life for you, it's better if we pretend we don't know each other, excuse me, your grace". She bows and goes back trimming the plants.

Heart broken Baara takes her textbooks and leaves the garden. She fights her tears back walking back to her chambers, when she suddenly sees Eitan

"Your grace". He bows to her

"Lord Eitan, what brings you here?".

" Well, the king and I need your help, and- he noticed her face, he sees the tears gathering in her eyes "Are you okay?".

" Of course, I'm just great".

He sighs "If you say so, I'll escort you to the kings chambers".

“Alright “ The walk was a quiet one Ethan knew something was bothering Baara but what could he do

______ “What!” Barra exclaims

“Did you not understand what I just said ?” The king asked confused by her reaction

“It’s not that ….I just …Uhmm “ Baara felt her whole body shiver

“Do you maybe have a problem oracle? Can you not predict the outcome of the situation?.

Baara let’s out a sigh controlling her emotions “Okay , I Uhmm, just need some time to think-I mean come in contact with the spirit, there are some Uhmm ritual I have to perform “

“Very well, I’ll give you twenty four hours and that’s it….you may go”

Baara bows “Yes your highness “. Baara turns to leave when

“Wait.I actually have something to discuss with you, why don’t you wait behind,Eithan you may leave us”

Eithan bows “Of course your grace “ Eithan leaves

Baara gulps … The king gets on his feet and walks closer to her, her heart starts beating really fast, she took in little deep breath to control her self . The king reaches his hand to her, and grabs the textbook she had on her hand

“Interesting….I guess it’s only natural for a divine being to want to gain more knowledge about the world “.

Baara sighs relived “Your highness is there any reason you wanted me to wait behind?”.

“yes actually, what’s your plan? For me to win the queens heart that is or do you need a ritual for that as well”

Baara laughs nervously “Of course not! Well your highness…I always have to be by your side more often , Uhmm how to I put this, if she sees you treating me so lovely and sweetly showing her what she’s been missing it will trigger out some emotions from her…she might even get jealous and would be the one desperate for attention “.

He sighs “That makes sense,very well. I’ll do as you say, from now on you’ll be by my side, at all times , you’ll sleep in my chambers,eat here,dress here do whatever you want in here”.

“And you also have to act sweetly towards me when she’s around not just with words but physical as well“. Baara gasps a little realizing what she had just told the king “I mean that’s if you’re okay with it your highness”

“Very well.make yourself comfortable “

The king walks to his bed and lays down.Baara looks at his big room, designed with all sorts of jewel her being here still feels like a dream..she looks around confused , not knowing where to sit,so she settles for the floor

She sees the textbook and grabs a hold of it, she opens it and looks at it confused trying to figure out what it says

Darius notices Baaras facial expressions while trying to read ….”Uhmm do you not understand what the book says?”

Baara looks at him and sighs “no I can’t read , I’m an illiterate sire”

Darius immediately gets up “Seriously? How does a divine being such as yourself not know how to read?”

“Maybe if this Divine being wasn’t a slave and came from a decent family she would have some sort of education….your grace”

Darius glares at her and just goes back to bed ignoring her.

Baara  falls asleep with the book on her face.

Darius tip toes not wanting to wake her up as he passed by…he suddenly leaves his chamber

His Eunuch sees him along side with the guard gaurding his chambers

“your highness are you going somewhere ?” His Eunuch asked

“Yes, I want to make a quick stop to our library “.

They escort him as he walks to the royal library, one of the queens maid sight him walking towards her direction and immediately ran to warn the queen

“your highness!” She exclaims from the other side of the door

The queen,who’s on top of Calvin naked in bed immediately responds angered by her maids interruption “What is it !”

“It’s his highness…his walking towards his direction!”

“What!” She immediately jumps out of bed along Calvin who immediately starts dressing himself panicking .

“What is he doing out of his chambers by this time ?he never comes out? Or is he starting to get suspicious?.

Darius passes the queens chambers on his way to the library he thought of stopping by but then he remembered what the oracle had told him

He reaches the Library and immediately start searching

The eunuch and guard share a look “Uhmm sire what are you looking for ?”

“A book…a beginners book,the type we use to teach toddlers their first step to reading”

“Ah…I see, we’ll help” they all start looking

One of the guards suddenly exclaims “Found it!”

The king smiles

They return to his chambers shortly after.

The next morning Baara opens her eyes and sees a book next to her “What is this?” She said out loud

“That’s a beginners book, it will help you learn how to read, I’ll also get you an instructor to help you study”

Baara’s eyes shimmers “Your highness you shouldn’t-“

“Just think of it as a reward….I’m positive you won’t let me down… I wonder what you’re going to be telling us today “.

Baaras eyes widen she has completely forgot the king expect a solution about the war with the Argans .she gulps
