FREDRINN

~~~~
I reacted on instinct and raised my hands to intercept him. I didn't mean to kill him. I only intended to block the attack, seize his arm, and throw him to the floor to end it quickly.
But the moment my fingers closed around his forearm, something went wrong.
"Oh, oops," Gedon purred in my head, sounding too amused. "Did you break him?"
Flesh from flesh, bone from bone, his hand disjoined from his shoulder.
No matter how much I tried to restrain myself. It always happens.
    FREDRINN~~~It took a few minutes to drive there. The place was quiet, a stretch of road with a few streetlamps and nothing else, the kind of area where no one would hear anything.Rourke was already there.He leaned against the side of his car, hands in his pockets, and straightened the moment he saw me pull in. He walked over before I had even shut the door.“I’ve been trying to reach you.”“And?”He looked at me.“I thought we were done,” I said. “Whatever business we had.”“We’re not.”I raised an eyebrow.“Have you forgotten already?” His voice was calm. “I’m still helping you look into the disappearance of the female wolves.”He paused, just long enough to let it sink in.“And what about the oath of allegiance? How exactly do you think we’re done when we’re bound by it?”The oath.I almost forgot about it entirely. The words, the weight of them, the way they had settled over me like a second skin. I had bound myself to him. I couldn’t raise a hand against him. And he couldn’t
    FREDRINN~~~Liam was fast asleep.I sat in the chair beside the bed, my elbows on my knees, and listened to him breathe. It was slow and measured, barely noticeable.The curtains were still drawn. The lamp had burned down to a weak yellow glow.His hands lay on top of the blanket, wrapped in clean bandages.I could tell it was still hurting. Even in his sleep. His fingers twitched every few minutes, curling and uncurling against the sheet.Someone had put those things inside him.It wasn’t by accident. Someone had looked at a boy and decided to open him up and fill him with something that would eat at him from the inside. And then another had bound his wolf, letting him believe, for years, that the fault was his.What did he do wrong?My jaw ticked.I looked at his face instead.His small nose. His full lips. His long lashes. The lines that usually sat between his brows had smoothed out. His hair had fallen across his forehead, and one lock curled against his cheek. I watched h
  • His Male Luna   63. Liam
    Liam~~Dane was barely gone a minute when the door slammed open.I jerked upright, my heart leaping, and found Fredrinn standing at the door, his chest rising and falling like he had run a marathon. I wasn’t expecting him.He crossed the room in three strides. Before I could say a word, he had my hand in both of his, turning it over and running his thumb across my palm, pressing along the bones as if he could find the wound by touch.“What happened?” His voice was low and rough. “I felt it.”His hands were warm. Too warm. I stared at them.“Fredrinn. Calm down.”“I felt it, Liam.”“I know. I’m fine.” I tugged gently and he didn’t let go. “Sit.”I told him. The memory spell. The thing I had seen inside my own body. What the witch had said about the Clavis, and the binding, and how she planned to draw them out through my hand.“She’s going to open it,” I finished. “Through my hand.”His head was already shaking before I reached the end of the sentence.Then he turned around.Dane wa
    LIAM~~~My hand throbbed. I flexed my fingers and immediately regretted it.“Did you see it?”The witch was already bent over me, her eyes fixed on my face like she was afraid I’d slip away again. I turned my head from Dane, who stood at the foot of the bed with his arms folded, and looked at her.“Yes.”“Tell me.”“It almost looked like a snake.” My throat tightened. “But it wasn’t. It was… shiny. Almost glossy. Like something that had been polished.”She didn’t speak. She studied me for a moment before she asked, “Do you know how many they put inside you?”I shook my head. Then I stopped and tried to pull the memory back, the dark, the hands, the sound of someone breathing too close.“Five,” I said slowly. “I think there were five. I’m not sure.”“Don’t be. Memories bend. They warp when they’re held too long.” She said it gently, like she was apologizing on the memory’s behalf. “We can’t trust the number.”I nodded. It wasn’t as if I had anything better to offer.She straightened
It always happens.A ragged scream tore through the factory as bone snapped under my grip. Before I could let go, another rogue shrieked and attacked from the left. I pivoted toward him, and the confrontation descended into chaos.Gedon vibrated with exhilaration in the back of my mind."Yes! Rip them apart!" Gedon roared, his bloodlust surging through my veins.The violence woke something feral in Gedon, and every scream and wet crunch sounded like music to him. I felt his manic excitement bleeding into my blood and war
    Fredrinn~~~‘Alpha duties are nothing but mostly boring administrative garbage,’ Gedon muttered, his voice flat. ‘Just toss it out of the window, and let’s do something fun like going to see Liam.’“Kill the thought,” I muttered.Barely three seconds, I reached for my phone and checked Dane’s DM. He hadn’t sent any picture, any video.Something rose in my chest, but dissolved as the door opened after a knock.One of my warriors stopped before my desk, politely clasping my hand behind me."Alpha, we've located the rogues," he said.I looked up and dropped my pen onto the desk."Where?""They've been spotted on the outskirts of Redtown."‘Finally, some fun Alpha work,’ Gedon said. I did the math in my head, calculating distance and travel time."That's five hours away.” I uncoiled from the seat."Yes, Alpha.""Get the helicopter prepped.” I rounded the desk, fixing my jacket. "We'll use it to cover as much distance as possible, then do the rest on foot."Hesitation flashed across his
