EZEKIEL'S POV:
"Are you okay, babe?" Rue asked as she tried to open my shirt button. I grunted and pushed her aside. "Not today, Rue. I'm not in the mood." I spat out and gulped the content of my glass and set it down. "It's impossible for Zeke not to be in the mood for s*x. What happened to you dude?" I rolled my eyes at the annoying voice of my best friend. "Chris, stop it already. It's not funny." Rue stood up and picked her bag, ready to leave. "Bye." She uttered and stormed out angrily. "Yoo! That's too harsh, dude. This is your girlfriend you're treating this way." Chris chastised me, clearly angry. "Do you want me to leave your house?" I glared at him and he raised his hands up in surrender. "Alright chillax dude. You're acting like a spoiled brat." He muttered under his breath and poured himself a drink. I huffed and looked away, if only he knew. "So my father said you and I have only one year left to assume duties. With the way your mood swings, it will be hard playing your Beta. You're sort of a b!tch sometimes." Chris commented, causing my frustration to heightened. "If you don't shut the f*ck up I swear I'll break your head." I swore and stood up, breathing heavily. I couldn't find my pace, I was in despair and in dire need of consolation, not taunting from my best friend and future Beta. "What's up!" He calmly asked. I guess he got the memoir that something was bothering me. "I found my mate!" I screamed, my heart knotting at the thought. "That's great, Man. Shouldn't you be happy about it?" Chris asked, confusion written all over his face. "I should, in fact I'm happy, very happy but the damn new rule is freaking making me go crazy." I breathed out, trying so hard to calm my nerves. "Your mate is an omega?" The curiosity in his voice didn't invade me. "Yeah, one of the maids recruited in the Pack house is my mate. And to make matters worse, she has no wolf so therefore she has no idea that we are mates." I ranted and threw my hands up frustratedly. I really wished this damn new rule of Alpha Heirs not getting involved with maids or omega isn't in existence. I would be so happy to take her up to my parents and present her as my mate. "So what will you do? Are you going to reject her?" Chris questioned. "Hell no. I'm not going to reject my mate. I'll have to find a way around this." I mumbled and poured another drink for myself. "But to protect her, I won't let her know. I'll go home and pretend as though she is nothing to me." I stated flatly at the same time, chuckling sadly, knowing fully well that I couldn't do that. There was no way I would pretend that she's nothing to me. Not when the freaking mate bond had already kicked in. The taste of her lips last night had left me longing for more. "Well, you still have a year left to be Alpha. I believe by then, you will figure something out." Chris' words left me feeling relieved. A beep from my phone drifted my attention to it. It was a message from Father. “Come home.’ *********** The minute I walked into the big lounge, there sat my parents with Rue who was grinning from ear to ear. “Hey Babe.” Her deep ocean blue eyes twinkled in excitement. I furrowed my brows. “You're here?” I couldn't hide my displeasure. “Yes, I thought I should surprise you. Daddy invited me over.” She squeaked and Father chuckled. “Her parents are leaving town and asked if she could stay here while they are gone.” Father chipped in and stood up. Mother shook her head slightly, grinning at me. “If anyone should see the displeasures in your face, the person would think Rue is not your girlfriend.” She said and stood up as well. “Take care of your girlfriend, Son.” She added and both my parents walked out of the lounge hand in hand. The minute I was left alone with Rue, my rage rose to the surface. “Why didn't you say something back at Chris’s place?” “You were acting weird and I thought not to tell you. After all, your father invited me. I didn't come on my own.” She veered and stood up, forcing a smile on her face. Her earlier smile had disappeared the moment my parents left the lounge. “I don't know what's up with you today so I'm going to go to my room and give you your space.” She declared, gritting her teeth. Forcing my rage down, I masked a smile on my face and pulled her to me, thinking to myself “with Rue here, I would get distracted and not pay attention to Elsa. That way, she could be safe for the time being.” “I'm sorry, just in a bad mood.” I coaxed her, plastering a kiss on her face. “Alright, you're forgiven.” She said and laughed, entangling herself from me. “Let me take a shower then.” “What if I get my mate today? How would you feel?” I didn't know how but the question was out of my mouth before I could process it. Rue looked up at me with an unreadable expression, “I’ll kill her.” The resounding silence that followed her response was deafening. I was shocked to my bone-marrow. “Just kidding.” She suddenly said, something glistening in her gaze. “You and I know that someday we will find our mates and this relationship will be over.” She mouthed and was gone before I could say anything. I wasn't a fool to know that Rue meant what she said. She isn't a forgiving type and with her chaotic love towards me, my mate’s definitely in danger. She was Vengeful and not one to let go of what she thinks is hers. My phone rang, drawing me back to reality. “Chris?” I mumbled and waited. “Party tonight, bring Rue.” He said and hung up. “Ahhhhhhhh!” I screamed and kicked the air, tagging my hair in frustration. I was doomed and I was sure of it.EZEKIEL'S POV:“Of course, I’m late again!” a voice boomed, and I didn’t need anyone to tell me it was Alpha Clementino from Shadow City, my father’s acquaintance. He was infamous for being late to every gathering, whether at my father's place or elsewhere. It was amusing, really, considering we never quite clicked despite him being an acquaintance of Father.“Ah, my good friend!” my father exclaimed, his smile wide as he greeted Clementino. After a few pleasantries, he joined the rest of the guests at the table.Once I had eaten my fill, I decided to escape the table and mingle with the other attendees.Suddenly, Mariel appeared beside me, her expression serious. She raised her wine glass to mine and took a long sip before handing the empty glass to a passing waiter.“I’m really disappointed, you know,” she said, her voice tinged with frustration.“Why are you disappointed?” I asked, my gaze drifting to Chris and Dylan chatting at the far end of the hall.“I’m about to leave this eve
EZEKIEL'S POV:“Are you okay, man?” Chris asked, worry etched on his face as he approached me. We were at the bar in the castle, trying to unwind with a drink.I shook my head, letting out a heavy sigh as I lifted my glass of vodka. The harsh burn of the liquor hit my throat, making me groan in discomfort.“My Wolf has been restless, and I don’t know why,” I muttered, avoiding his gaze. With a comforting hand on my shoulder, Chris smiled. “I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about,” he reassured me. But even with his words, an unsettling feeling gnawed at me, refusing to let go.“I know how to lift your spirits,” he suddenly exclaimed, his grin wide and infectious. I raised an eyebrow, curious. “And what would that be?”He chuckled softly and settled onto the stool beside me, swirling his own drink. My patience was wearing thin.“Elsa,” he whispered, his eyes sparkling with excitement.A smile tugged at my lips, but it faded just as quickly. I hadn’t seen Elsa all afternoon.“Um…”Whatever
ELSA’S POV:I jolted awake, my head pounding and my mind clouded as I struggled to figure out where I was. My eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness around me. As I became fully aware, the darkness began to lift.A low grunt escaped my lips as I hissed in pain. My hands and legs were tied, and a strip of black tape sealed my mouth shut. I was sitting on the cold floor, and the room was empty and deserted, reeking of rotten food. Anger surged through me, overwhelming my confusion."Who on earth would want to kidnap me?" I thought, panic rising as I tried to wriggle free from my restraints.Suddenly, the door to the empty room flew open, and two men in black walked in, sizing me up with cold, emotionless stares. They stopped right in front of me, and then another man followed closely behind. He wore a tailored black suit that emphasized his broad shoulders and muscular build. A crisp white shirt and black tie completed his effortlessly confident look. His dark hair was perfectly styled, a
ELSA'S POV:The day passed slowly, with nothing much happening. I kept my distance from Rue and Ezekiel, and thankfully, Ezekiel didn’t ask me to wait on him. Maybe he was avoiding me too, or perhaps he felt guilty about what he did to me. But honestly, I doubted he ever felt guilty.I couldn’t even tell if he had any real feelings for me anymore.“Since you’re free, come help us in the kitchen,” Mina called from the doorway, arms crossed, studying me.“I don’t have to,” I mumbled, irritation bubbling up inside me.“Well, you do. Ms. Bennett said we need all hands on deck,” she replied, stepping into my room.“The Castle is hosting a small gathering for some of the most important men in the Pack,” she added, reaching for my hair. I instinctively dodged her touch.“Why am I always the last to know what’s happening in the Castle?” I complained, frustration evident in my voice.“It’s because your only business here is with Ezekiel. Besides, maids in this Castle don’t gossip, so you won’t
ELSA'S POV:The ringing sound in the background pulled me from my restless sleep. I groaned and blinked my eyes open, desperately searching for my phone.“Damn it,” I muttered under my breath, trying to control the wave of anger bubbling up inside me.“Mr. Graham?” I mumbled as soon as I answered the call.“Elsa?” His voice was tense, making me sit up straight. Every muscle in my body protested from the ache of spending the night kneeling in the cold.“How’s everything going?” He asked.“Great,” I lied, forcing a cheerful tone despite the despair clawing at me. I had just been allowed to rest and instructed to sleep for a while, a command from Ezekiel that still stung.“Okay, just checking in. Don’t forget to take your pills,” he said, and before I could even respond, he hung up.I let out a heavy sigh, the weight of frustration crashing down on me as I pulled myself out of bed. The wall clock flashed at 9 a.m.—I was late for my morning duties. After changing into my uniform, I dragge
EZEKIEL'S POV:“Babe!” Rue’s voice called out as soon as I slid into the car. Elyse still hadn’t returned. I rolled my eyes and turned to face her. She looked stunning in a black dress, wearing the rose necklace I had given her for our anniversary last year.“I’m coming with you,” she announced cheerfully as she climbed in, completely oblivious to the anger radiating from me.“Rue, you’re not going anywhere with me,” I said firmly, my eyes warning her to back off.“Why not?” she pouted. “I’m your girlfriend,” she added, clinging to my arm. I tried to shake her off, but she wouldn’t let go. “If you don’t take me with you, I’ll go straight to Father’s chambers and tell him everything,” she threatened, fully aware that dragging Father into this was the last thing I wanted.“Fine,” I muttered, shoving her away. “You’re on your own tonight.” I turned my back on her, frustration boiling inside me.A few minutes later, Elyse showed up, looking confused and clearly scared.“Get in the car, El
