New Friendship Or Just A Plan?

Maya was sitting in her class. She was thinking about Rehaan. What would she ask him? How would she talk to him? Her mother gave her the responsibility to protect her clan. She didn't even know much about the werewolves. How would she know, Rehaan would tell her the truth?

A lot of questions were in Maya's mind. Rehaan entered the class. He came and sat beside Maya. Maya looked at him, hoping he would say something, but he remained silent. The teacher entered the class and started teaching after greeting the students. Both Maya and Rehaan were thinking of a way to start a conversation with each other.

The class was over. After the teacher left the class, one by one every student left. It was only Maya and Rehaan who were left in the classroom. Maya stood up. She was about to leave when Rehaan stopped her.

Rehaan "Maya"

Maya "Yes"

Rehaan "I wanted to say something. Whatever happened yesterday... I...."

Maya "Yes say"

Rehaan "I wanted to apologise. I'm sorry for yesterday. I didn't want to hurt you. I didn't want to hurt anyone. I thought nobody would be there in the jungle. I didn't expect anyone to see me like that. I'm sorry."

Said Rehaan with a sad expression on his face.

Maya "I understand. I accept your apology. I'm sorry too for hurting you."

Said Maya with a smile.

Both of them left the classroom together. They were walking in the corridor when Rehaan called Maya again. She stopped.

Rehaan "So, how old are you?"

Maya "Excuse me?"

Rehaan "How old are you?"

Maya "I'm eighteen."

Rehaan "How long have you been eighteen?"

Maya "What do you mean?"

Rehaan "Okay, what I'm asking is, when were you turned?"

Maya "Nobody turned me. I was born a vampire."

Rehaan "Are you the vampire king's daughter?"

Maya "Yes."

Maya left from there. Rehaan said in his mind, "So Mom was right. She is not any ordinary vampire."

After the classes were over, Rehaan and Maya went for the dance practice. Today they didn't argue. They practiced hard as the competition was coming closer.

Maya "We have to win this competition."

Rehaan "And we will win."

Maya and Rehaan both smiled.

After returning home, the first thing Nisha asked Maya was "Did you get any information about Rehaan?"

Maya "Not yet. Give me some time."

Nisha "I hope you realize, that it's your responsibility to protect our people."

Maya "I know Mom. Trust me. I'll find out about him soon."

Maya went to her room. Nisha called Rajveer on his phone who was not at home. She informed him that Maya didn't get to know anything yet. Rajveer asked her to calm down and give their daughter some time.

When Rehaan reached home, his mother Kamini did the same. She too asked him about Maya. Rehaan confirmed that Maya is a born vampire and the vampire king and queen's daughter.

Kamini "I knew it. Now you have to do something. You will have to protect our clan. You are a strong werewolf. Our people trust you."

Rehaan "Tell me Mom what I should do now."

Kamini "Earn her trust first. Then I'll tell you what you would have to do."

The next day Rehaan and Maya stayed back at the college for dance practice. As the competition was coming closer, they had to practice more.

Rehaan "I think it's enough for today. We will practice tomorrow again."

Maya "Yes Ma'am also asked us to leave now."

Rehaan "Shall I drop you home?"

Maya "No thank you. It's not that late. And anyway I'm a vampire so I can go alone."

Rehaan "What were you doing that night alone in the jungle?"

Maya "I was passing that way and I saw your car. I called you on your phone but you left your phone inside the car. I was worried, so I was looking for you. And I went inside the jungle."

Rehaan "You were worried for me? Why? You never liked me. Still, you were worried. That's so nice of you."

Maya "I didn't expect you to be a werewolf. So I was worried for a human."

Rehaan "You were worried for me, that's what matters."

Maya gave him a fake smile and wondered why Rehaan was acting so friendly suddenly. Maya felt he too was trying to extract some information about her.

Rehaan "So your father... "

Maya "How many questions will you ask? Now let me ask you something."

Rehaan got alert as Maya interrupted him.

Rehaan "Of course, ask."

Maya "Did you tell your family about me?"

Rehaan "Not yet. Mom would get tensed up."

Maya "And your Dad?"

Rehaan "My Dad is no more. I lost him when I was seven."

Maya "I'm so sorry. I didn't know, I'm sorry."

Rehaan "It's okay."

Maya felt it was not the right time to ask Rehaan anything else about his family.

Maya "Let's go Rehaan."

Rehaan "Yeah."

Both Maya and Rehaan left together. When they reached the car parking lot, Rehaan said "I think we should stop this now."

Maya "Stop what?"

Rehaan "These childish fights. Can't we become friends? We both know what we are. And now I've realized that we are quite similar. We both are trying to fit in this world among humans. So why not help each other out?"

Maya "Well, honestly, I don't mind being your friend."

Rehaan "So friends?"

Maya "Yeah friends."

Maya and Rehaan parted ways and went home.

Again Nisha asked Maya about Rehaan when she reached home. Maya said that they were friends now and soon she would find out everything about Rehaan and his family. Nisha got some relief hearing so.

Rehaan too informed Kamini about his new friendship with Maya. Kamini was happy to hear that.

Maya was sitting in her room, on her bed, reading a book, when Rajveer knocked on her door.

Maya "Come Dad."

Rajveer came and sat beside Maya.

Rajveer "Your Mom told me that you and Rehaan became friends. Remember one thing dear, he is a werewolf. We are natural enemies. It's about power. This enmity has been going on for ages. Be careful. He might also try to trap you. Be very careful dear."

Maya "Don't worry Dad. I'll be careful."

Rajveer left. Maya thought her Dad was right and that she shouldn't trust Rehaan.
