Taylor POV
Opening my eyes I realized I must have fallen asleep in the recliner. Looking at my watch I saw it was just after midnight. Going to get up I felt horrible and debated on how bad I really needed to pee. Lucas was at the club and wouldn’t be home till sometime early in the morning. Closing my eyes I grabbed onto the arms of the chair to help host me up when I felt a sharp contraction hit. Oh shit I thought, I was only 36 weeks and at my appointment earlier in the week I wasn’t even dilated.
Shaking my head I forced myself up thinking maybe I was tripping, maybe it was something I ate. Getting up I wobbled my way to the bathroom flipping on the lights before I quickly did my business and washed my hands. Heading back to the living room I grabbed my phone before going upstairs to the baby’s room to make sure the diaper bag and overnight bag wasn't still on the floor. I had told Lucas to put them in the trunk of his car and I guess he finally l
It had been a month since Chloe came into our lives. Lucas had done good on his promise and had been spending a majority of time home with us. He would still make an appearance once a week at the club. David was helping out with the Dom situation so Lucas had been working a lot from home.I couldn’t ask for Chloe to be a better baby, she hardly ever cried and if she did she was just letting you know a she was hungry, or because she was wet. She even slept for a good stretch of time at night. That little girl had her daddy wrapped around her tiny little fingers. I loved watching him with her. His whole demeanor changed when he held her.Things were still the same with my parents. I had given up on them ever coming around. I knew they blamed Lucas for Cody’s disappearance. Even if I straight up confessed to murdering Cody they would turn it around on him. I wished things could have been different. I wished that mom and dad would be understanding for the sake
I didn’t know how I felt about returning home, I just knew that LA had eaten me up and spit me back out. Living in New York most of my life I was ready for the people, I was ready for the adventure, I just hadn’t been ready for the betrayal. Nobody ever really wants to move back home and I was no exception. In fact, my parents didn’t even know I was on my way but I knew my room would be just as I had left it and that made me feel somewhat better. My parent’s house had always seemed like a safe haven to me and that’s exactly what I needed right now. I needed to find myself and pull myself back together. I knew they wouldn’t mind me just popping up, they were never home much anyway. As soon as I had graduated they had begun traveling a couple of times a year. My brother Cody, last I had heard from my parents, was in and out of their house on what seemed to be a weekly basis. They never said it but I was pretty sure he was on drugs again.Turning down our street I felt some
It had been a week since I had first arrived home and I was already ready to find somewhere else to stay. Cody acted like I had broken some kind of unknown promise to never return home and told me I was messing everything up. We had been in the middle of a face to face yelling argument when my parents had made it home. Both my mom and dad were thrilled I had moved back home, of course, they didn’t know the reason, even after badgering me about it.Today I just wanted to get out, I wanted to go try new things, and I knew just what I wanted to do. What was better than a tattoo to start a new chapter in your life? Nothing that I could think of. I was in need of a change and I had a vision of how I wanted to start the new me.Knowing NYC was crazy I had taken a cab to the tattoo studio. I half wished I had brought a friend, or hell even Cody’s moody ass as I saw the building. The street was full of life, people were moving everywhere. Paying the cab driver I st
Lucas ended up ordering for me after asking me a couple of questions about what I liked and didn’t like. I had been nervous about what they would bring me but I was pleasantly surprised by the fish and asparagus cooked in a butter sauce that was sat in front of me. Lucas had ordered something similar that came with pasta.“So what are your plans now that you are home?” he asked me.I took a bite of my fish looking up at him shrugging before I sat my fork down, “I don’t know honestly. My plan is to move here to the City but first I have to find a job that will pay enough for me to live here, or at least drive back and forth.” I looked up, “so, I guess time will tell.”Lucas took a sip of his drink, “I actually know of an office where they are looking for a secretary. I could set you up an interview if you want.”Looking up at him I saw his dark eyes watching me, “I would appreciate it but I
I woke up frowning as my phone rang across the room. Part of me wanted to ignore it, if it was important they would leave a message. Right? Groaning I got up only to stump my toe as soon as my feet hit the ground.“Shit, hello?” I said as I did a tiny hop praying that it was only my mother on the other end.No such luck. I could feel my face turn red as Lucas started talking, “Is that how you always answer your phone?”Sighing I sat on my bed looking at my injured toe, “no, I hit my toe and it hurts.”Lucas laughed, “oh yeah you need me to come kiss it?”My mouth dropped open but no words escaped. At my silence, Lucas continued speaking, “get up and get dressed. You need to be at the address I’m about to text you at 1. Don’t be late.”He gave me no time to question him before he hung up. I pulled my phone down from my ear looking at it jumping a little as a text came thr
As we walked closer to my car I reached out and grabbed Lucas’s hand. “I can’t accept all of this.”Lucas arched his brow looking down at me, “you can and you will. Go home and get your stuff. I will meet you at your apartment to give you the keys.”I opened my mouth to speak again but Lucas shook his head looking down at his watch, “I’m running late Taylor, we can argue about this later. I will text you the address.”I watched in shock as he turned and walked the other way, leaving me beside my car. He acted as if this was something people did every day. Who the hell was he? Getting in I looked at the papers that Jack had given me. It included a VIP parking tag that I immediately put in my window glad that at least I wouldn’t have to worry about parking.Once home I walked in seeing Cody in the kitchen. He looked up at me frowning, “ where have you been dressed like that?”I r
My first day of work wasn’t that bad. I was basically free to do what I wanted in between Jack’s meetings. Sarah the ice queen had glared at me as I walked in and when I had left this afternoon but I wasn’t about to try and figure her out. Maybe she was just lonely having to sit in the front by herself all day.Part of me had expected Lucas to find his way back into the building but he never made an appearance. I wasn't sure how I would feel seeing him anyway. I still didn't know how to take him. He was used to getting his way, he was arrogant as hell but damn if his dominance di
Lucas didn’t say much as we drove to the club, I had thought about talking to him about the apartment on the way but decided against it. He had placed his free hand on my left thigh and my heart about stopped. I knew he was aware of the way he was affecting me just by the smirk he had on his face.A valet met us out front and took his car, Lucas held out his arm letting me take it as we walked into his club. I felt eyes on us the minute we walked inside. Looking up at Lucas I saw he was unfazed. I’m sure he was used to all the attention.A man walked up to us and started talking to Lucas low enough I couldn’t make out what he was saying. Lucas nodded guiding me to the stairs that lead up to the VIP section. I had to resist the urge to tug at my dress as we walked up the stairs. The guy Lucas had been talking to he had introduced as David.Once upstairs several people greeted Lucas, most calling him by his last name. I seemed to draw lots of att
