So, the ugly truth of these top executives talking behind the female president is all out in the open now.

“This is way too much! Missy is the only legitimate daughter of the Hamilton family! What the hell were they thinking?” Jason, the President’s secretary sitting in the passenger seat, was so angry that his cheeks turned red.

“Ah, all that stuff about being the legitimate daughter, that’s all in the past now. I don’t care about It, yet here you are still fussing over it.”

Kira squinted her eyes, reached out, and pinched Jason’s cheek, turning it even redder.

“Kira, you’re the future President New lake, can’t you act a bit more like a leader? Don’t treat Jason like this.” Ethan frowned slightly.

“What’s wrong? It’s okay for male bosses to flirt with female secretaries, but I can’t touch my male secretary’s face?”

Kira smirked, “Besides, he should be thanking me!”

Ethan just shook his head, his eyes filled with a doting and gentle smile.

Meanwhile.

The executives gathered around Kira and Ethan as they walked into the hotel.

The vice president Liam Porter led them towards the elevator, but Kira casually said, “I want to have a look at the restaurant first.”

Well, okay! She started inspecting the moment she stepped in, without even saying hello!

Nervously, Liam led President Hamilton and the others to the buffet restaurant.

Ethan remained calm, just letting his sister do her thing.

It wasn’t lunchtime yet, so there were no customers in the restaurant, but the waiter staff had already started setting up the food.

Kira's sharp eyes scanned the dishes, stopping abruptly at the seafood section.

She rolled up her sleeves, reached into the glass tank, and accurately picked out a dead shrimp from hundreds.

“Explain.”

“Th... this shrimp isn’t dead…” Liam stammered.

“It’s not dead? Then how about you try it?” Kira said, smiling.

“President Hamilton, as you can see, there are many shrimps, it’s normal if one is dead…”

“It’s normal for a shrimp to die, but if a customer ate it and got food poisoning, would you still think it’s normal?”

Kira immediately dropped her smile, “Also, there are 356 shrimps in this tank, I quickly counted, there are five dead shrimps and at least thirty barely alive. I don’t know how the customers would feel when they find such things in their $30 meal, but my opinion is, I’ll never come to this hotel again! Dispose of all seafood immediately and find a new supplier. If I see one dead shrimp in tomorrow’s lunch, I’ll bring it back for you to taste.”

Liam was scared stiff, and the executives were stupefied.

Only Ethan and Jason knew that Kira had an amazing memory, she could remember a lot of information at a glance. When she was young, she even helped the police solve a major crime case with those eyes.

Counting a few shrimps was a piece of cake for her.

After arriving at the guest rooms, Kira took a white handkerchief from Jason and gently wiped it on the wall and picture frames.

“The cleaning is subpar, there’s dust, redo it.”

The executives were utterly hopeless.

“You must be thinking I’m being overly picky about these details, right?”

Kira appeared calm, but her tone was serious, “But these minor issues could lead to the downfall of a century-old hotel. If these problems were found by the star rating committee, we would lose our star rating!”

She gestured to Jason, who understood and ordered, “Open the door to this guest room.”

The head of the room department fumbled to open the door. In the past, when bosses came for inspections, they would usually clean two sample rooms for them to check, just for show.

But President Hamilton completely ignored the standard procedures!

Kira entered the room, first inspecting the bathroom, then the bedroom, sitting on the bed.

Immediately, her face turned serious.

But she didn’t say anything, just ended the inspection and went to the General Manager’s office with her brother.

“How do you feel after the inspection?" Ethan asked with a smile.

“Heh, it’s a complete mess.”

Kira collapsed onto the sofa, propping her elbow on the armrest and sighing. “Is dad testing me or mocking me? This hotel is the pits! Is this really a property of the Hamilton family?”

“Kira, this hotel was founded by our grandfather. The Hamilton group started with the hotel industry and gradually expanded with hard work, that’s how we got the New lake Group today. This hotel is not a disaster, but a place carrying the sentiments of three generations of the Hamilton group. But because we now have too many businesses, and indeed, the hotel industry has been in a slump these past few years, we all have our own jobs, so… it was neglected.”

Ethan sighed with self-blame and helplessness, “You’ll have to work harder.”

That’s when Kira noticed the all-black plano in the corner.

She caught her breath.

“I had it put there. I remember you used to play the piano when you were feeling down, or you’d go to the riding range and have a good horse ride.”

Ethan blinked, “I think you’ll be busy these next two months, horse riding is not realistic, so when you’re tired, play a few pieces. You play the piano very well, I remember…”

“Thank you. But I haven’t played the piano in a long time.”

Kira's throat was dry, an old wound in her heart that had taken so long to heal quietly opened again. The blood flowing from her cold heart was still hot.

“What happened?” Ethan was startled.

“I injured my hand while working as a Doctors Without Borders, rescuing casualties on the battlefield. I ruptured the ligament in my little finger, it didn’t break, but it’s as good as useless, can’t play wide range notes anymore, might as well.. stop playing.”

Kira tried to sound as calm as possible when recounting the story.

Ethan’ heart ached, he quickly held his sister’s hand.

“Was it… for Thiago?”

“Yes, and no.”

When Kira heard that name, it still hurt like hell, but she managed to put on a radiant smile. “I got injured for world peace, that’s something to be proud of.”

Five years ago, she bumped into Thiago, the man she had been missing, right on the battlefield of Solanis.

She was a field medic and he was a peacekeeper.

He fought for peace and she almost lost the function of her hand trying to get him, a severely wounded soldier, back to safety.

Back then, she saw it as an honor. Now, every time she looked at her numb pinkie, all she felt was pain.

But that was all in the past. Even if she had loved the wrong man, she wasn’t going to sob and regret it.

Just then, Jason hurriedly knocked on the door and walked in.

“Miss, I’ve found what you asked for. Our hotel’s bedding and some furniture are supplied by Vintage Elegance. Mr. Liam was in charge of the contact.”

“Vintage Elegance, huh.”

Kira elegantly crossed her legs, a dangerous glint in her eyes. “Tell the finance department to get me the hotel’s account for the past two years. Then, contact a new bedding supplier and replace Vintage Elegance entirely!”

"Such a big move?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.

“Vintage Elegance was founded by Thiago's brother.”

“So, it’s a personal grudge.” Ethan and Jason said simultaneously.

“No! It’s because Vintage Elegance’s products are subpar. They sold us cheap bedding for our Solanis hotel, so I’m going to punish them,” Kira emphasized.

Just the thought of that lousy mattress made her angry. Uncomfortable accommodations could affect customer reviews, no wonder there were so many bad reviews online!

“There’s another thing…”

Jason hurriedly spoke again, “President Hamilton asked me to keep an eye on the Anderson family’s situation. I just got word, Mr. James had a stroke and is hospitalized, in our Hamilton group’s hospital!"

“He’s in the hospital?!” Kira immediately stood up, in a state of great anxiety.

At that moment, Ethan's phone rang.

He glanced down at the screen and smiled slightly.

“Kira, it’s your ex-husband.”

After nearly a week, Helen finally walked out of the prosecutor’s office, looking completely wiped out and smelling like a durroster.Without makeup, she looked dull as dishwater. Her usually well–maintained face now looked a decade older, with strands of gray hair peaking through. She dodged the swarm of reporters as she didn’t want to let them see her current situation. She couldn’t bear to go home looking that terrifying that if Elijah saw her, the image she had carefully maintained would shatter in a matter of seconds. So Jasmine accompanied her to a beauty salon in secret. She took a shower, got a fresh set of clothes plucked out the gray hairs, and put on light makeup to brighten her face before she dared to face the world again.“You should go see Veronica before heading home.”Helen adjusted her bun in the mirror and said grimly. “She’s my niece after all I heard she tried to end her life I can’t just ignore her current situation. I need to put on a kind and gentle front for

“Jason, what’s up with you?” Kira looked puzzled and surprised. She always thought highly of Jason, but there he was looking all beat up and lost, eyes bloodshot, lips pale as a sheet, like a puppy left homeless in a downpour.“Jason, are you here because of Helen?”Ethan came up to Kira, his steps steady, his eyes soft, as he wiped his handsome hands with a pristine white silk cloth.Kira glanced at him and saw specks of blood on the cloth.“I’m sorry. I’m really sorry!” Jason kept apologizing, bowing deeply to them.Just as Kira was puzzled, Axel gave her a buzz.“Axel?”“Sis, Helen just left my place.”Axel's voice was heavy with resignation, seemingly self–blaming as he said, “My team and I have been gathering evidence on Helen's abuse of power and bribery, but she’s way ahead of us, shifting all blame to Earl. Elijah got her a really slick lawyer, Cedric Dempsey. That guy is ruthless; he knows exactly how to exploit legal loopholes. My evidence fell short, so I had to let Helen g

Ethan was staring at Kira, his eyes deep and mysterious. His sister was a pro at seizing opportunities. She never played by the rules, and she was always ready to break them.Given a slim chance, she could turn the tables, create bigger gains, and catch her opponents off–guard.Ryan's face changed. He hadn’t expected Kira to ask him that.“From the look on your face, you must know something.” Kira said coldly, a smirk playing on her lips.“I know.” Ryan swallowed hard, stuttering. “Because the child is mine…”The Hamilton siblings were taken aback.Kira's hand clenched excitedly. This storm had brought her great benefits.“What happened exactly? Tell me.” Ethan demanded in a frosty voice.“I used to be a personal trainer at a high–end gym overseas. That’s where I met Veronica and we grew closer. She was a real seductress, and we ended up together.”Kira's eyes were full of curiosity. “Go on.”“But we never made it official, it was a casual thing. Veronica was never short of guys. I wa

Thiago stumbled out of the study, pale as a ghost. He felt like his chest was about to cave in.He realized that Kira was like a painful scar on his body, one he dared not touch. The slightest touch would send a jolt of pain through him as if his body was about to break apart. But what he feared to remember more than Kira herself was the fact that she once loved him.Thiago had always been a proud man, even as a child. Despite his experiences with hunger and poverty, he never allowed himself to lose his dignity or bow down to anyone. “Mr. Thiago,” Mateo rushed up to him, “I have three things to report.”“Go on.” Thiago tried to steady himself, a thin layer of sweat forming on his forehead.“First, Ms. Veronica is awake but not doing well. She’s been demanding to see you.”Thiago's eyes darkened, “And the second?”“The chairman has found a kick–ass lawyer for Helen. She’ll be released tomorrow morning. Word is, her cousin Earl has taken all the blame, and Helen is in the clear.” Mateo

Here was the scoop. This dude’s name was Ryan, and along with his full background, there was a report on his plastic surgery! The guy went for a full facelift.Kira remembered what George looked like before the surgery. Just like Axel showed her before, he was Veronica's gym trainer boyfriend from overseas!“That’s him! That’s him! The guy who groped Veronica!”Kira got so worked up that she couldn’t help but blurt it out. After all, the photo of Veronica getting groped left a deep impression on her.Ethan coughed lightly and said with a bitter smile, “Kira, watch your language.”“I knew it.” Kira scoffed. “This is so Veronica!” Ethan's gaze turned icy, and it was filled with anger, “Before, I thought that woman was just playing some petty tricks. I underestimated her.”“But I find it weird. Why did this man have to get plastic surgery, and so thorough at that?”Kira sneered, “Could it be that he had to get surgery to become Veronica's man?”“Keep reading.” Ethan gently reminded her.

When Kira got back to her private villa, it was already the crack of dawn.Nydia had been worried sick about her sister, staying up all night. Her eyes were red and swollen, and it looked miserable.“Nydia, don’t beat yourself up. I’m fine. Don’t you have classes tomorrow morning? Get some sleep.” Kira sat next to Nydia, giving her a hug.“Kira, am I useless? You’ve always protected me when we were little, but now that I’m grown up, I can’t do anything.” Nydia pouted, her eyes brimming with tears.“What kind of nonsense are you talking about?” Kira gently knocked on her head. “Because of you and Myra, our home is filled with harmony. You’re the baby sister that we all adore. You are like our own little mascot. If you really want to do something for me, then go and chase your dreams. When you make it big in the entertainment industry. I’m going to have you endorse my products. That way, I can save some money. Sounds good, right?”“Kira, I believe in myself. I’ll definitely make it!” Ny
