****Megan's POV****

It was one of those nights. The ones with my second personality as Lady M. I'd just finished a small business that needed to be taken care of.

I got home that night feeling really exhausted, drained but somewhat energized.

“How are the kids?” I asked Katie who had walked into my room.

“Sound asleep, they wouldn't sleep until you called in. Thankfully after the call they fell straight to bed”

I sighed. “That's good, I'll be sure to make it up to them tomorrow, Work got a bit more of my time.”

Katie smiled taking my catsuit I'd laid on the bed.

“I'd personally dry clean this for you.”

“Thanks katie.”

After she walked out the door and jammed the door shut, I walked into balcony dialling Kai's private number.

“Hi, Meg. Got home safely?”

“Yea… pretty rough day, how's the preparations for the grand opening going?”

“Going great, everything is almost finalized, we just need you to show up on the D-day, oh and I sent you a package, did you get it?”

“A package? What could that be?”

“You'll find out, I'm sure it would be there in a few…minutes.”

My door bell rang and I squinted my eyes before answering.

“Come in.”

It was Katie again.

“You have a package, from Kai.” she said.

“Thanks,” I said taking it from her, one hand clutching it, the other on my phone still with Kai.

“Go on, open it.”

I chuckled. “How do you already know I'm staring blankly at the package?”

“I know you better than anyone, Meg, now go on.”

“Okay…” I smirked, placing the phone on the bed I opened the box slowing revealing it's content bit by bit, they were a bit covered by roses, Kai can be dramatic for the fun of it.

“Wait, is it what I think it is?”

I pulled out the glittering black dress that lay in the box like a golden prize.

“You got me a dress?”

“Like it?”

“Like? I…I love it, this is so my style, Kai.”

“I'm glad you love it, you can wear this to the grand opening, I was just passing by when it caught my eye and it just screamed, Megan, I knew you'll love it.”

“Omg,” I squinted taking the beauty out further. “This looks really stunning, oh and it has a wide slit.”

“Yup, Megan style.”

“Wow, Kai…. You didn't have to…”

“Oh please, Megan, don't give me that today, I had to.”

I bit my lips, squeezing my eyes shut then suddenly realized myself.

“Uhm, I… have to go try it on now.”

“Alright, take your time.” He said and the line went dead.

I sighed deeply hitting my chest lightly, why was it doing that little tumbling like an idiot, and for who, my boss? Just pump blood dear heart.

As for this dress it was so gorgeous I couldn't wait for my grand appearance at the opening of my fashion business.

Thinking about it now made me realize one thing.

This was my grand appearance in the media and it was really going to shake the internet, Joe would definitely see it, he, Miranda and my parents. Was I really ready for the chaos that would come with that?

Then Kai's words rang in my ears, the one he always told when I felt low,

You need to be brave, the world should never see you weak but ready. Afterall you've got me.

And I felt instantly relieved. He was right, no one cared about what you truly felt, they would be ready to crush you down if you let them. I was Lady M. After all.

I sighed, throwing myself on the bed whilst clutching the dress.

We can do it.

******

Morning came soon but I hadn't slept a wink, I couldn't help the thought of everyone from my past coming back to my present.

Honestly, if I had my way they wouldn't get a chance in but things were complicated now, being from a Mafia family like mine, the unfinished divorce with Joe and the kids identical to him, speaking of the kids, I needed to hide them from him and everyone else.

They could know about me being back in the states, they could know my business but not about the kids.

“Momma!” Ethan and Cole’s tiny hands pounded against the door.

I could hear Katie's muffled voice. “Momma's probably sleeping, let's not disturb her now okay?”

“Awww.” Cole let out an adorable sigh that sent me chuckling.

“Come in babies, momma's awake.”

“Yay!” And instantly my doors swung open and they ran in on their blue and black pajamas.

“Good morning sugar,” Ethan pouted giving me a peck my cheek.

“Ouu” I chuckled. “Morning honey.”

“Good morning mama” Cole grinned.

“How was y'all night?”

“Fine, I didn't sleep much, Cole kept snoring.”

“No I did not.”

Ethan shook his head and that got me rolling.

“That's enough boys, what would you love to have for breakfast?”

Just then my phone rang and it was none other than Kai.

“Give me a minute boys. Hi Kai. Good morning.”

“Good morning, how was your night?”

I squinted my eyes then whispered. “It was okay, Kai, you, you're acting a bit strange these days…”

“Why? What's wrong with asking and caring about your well-being?”

“That uncle Kai?” Cole flew to my side.

“Hey… that my little man?”

“Both infact.”

“Oh, I see they came in go give you your good morning kiss.”

I chuckled.

“Yea… their morning ritual.”

“Good morning uncle Kai, thanks for chosing our new school, it looks really beautiful.” Ethan squealed.

“Oh really? You love it?”

“Yes, we made some new friends. And an old man too.”

“An old man?”

“Yes, he said we look like his own son.” Cole said while clutching his stomach.

Though he was laughing from ear to ear with his twin, I found it a bit strange.

“What old man?” I asked them inquisitively.

“I don't know,” Cole shrugged.

Kai was silent a bit then he cleared his throat.

“Uhm, Ethan and Cole, you're not supposed to speak to strangers.”

They widened their eyes then Ethan mumbled a silent we're sorry.

“That's okay boys, just don't do that again, uncle's not mad at you okay?”

They nodded even though Kai couldn't see their reaction. Soon after Katie called for them and they sprinted out of the room.

“Are you thinking what I'm thinking?” I asked feeling a bit down.

“ I don't think it's going to happen again, I'll have the guards keep them from speaking with strangers next time.”

I sighed. “What are the odds…”

“Did you try on the dress?” He asked trying to lighten the mood.

“Yes… it was magnificent and fit me properly.”

I could picturing him smiling now.

“Alright,” he said. “Just be prepared. Are you ready though?”

I sighed. “I didn't come back all the way here to give up now. I'm ready for anything.”

“That's more like it.”

****Joe’s POV****I was buried under a mountain of paperwork. Files stacked like mini skyscrapers around my desk, contracts, invoices, reports… the usual chaos. The office smelled like coffee and cigar smoke, mostly mine from this morning. My brain, though? Not in work mode. Not that I was complaining too loudly. There was just… something nagging at the back of my mind. Something I refused to name. Something that kept creeping in despite the mountain of work and the constant ringing of my phone. And then the door swung open.“Joe.”I looked up. Not expecting anyone. Definitely not the man appeared with a smug smile at the corner of his wrinkled jaws.“My old man.”Don Julian leaned on his stick, smirking. That grin that meant trouble and sarcasm in equal measure.“Not the man you were expecting, huh? Looks like you’ve forgotten who built this empire you’re sitting on.”I smirked, leaning back. “You do the building. I do the ruling. Agreed?”He chuckled, tapping the stick on the floor

In the meantime, babies, meet Katie—your caretaker.”I turned to Katie, whose mouth hung open subconsciously. I knew what she was thinking, and her guess was right.“Hi, lovelies.” Katie immediately smiled, waving at the boys. “My name’s Katie, and I’ll be taking care of your needs from now on when Momma

***Megan's POV***As usual, I slipped into my disguise for mafia-related business: a black catsuit and thigh-high stiletto boots, pulling on my black veil.I descended the mini stairs in the back of the children’s room—stairs no one would ever suspect led anywhere serious. I punched an invisible button on the high end of the wall, and an underground route opened. Below, an underground garage was filled with all types of bikes from around the world. I stepped into my favorite one, which I called the Ravenclaw, sleek and black like a predator at night, just like me.I zoomed off in one go, the engine roaring behind me.An hour later, I arrived at the warehouse, and of course, Kai’s bike, Viper, was already parked in the garage, indicating he was inside.I pushed open the large warehouse doors and almost caught Kai’s men off guard. The ones on alert had already pulled out their pistols, pointing them at the open door.I stepped in proudly, and they lowered their weapons when they realize
