Andddddd tomorrow, we begin our journey to the Palace!!!! — Longest chapter here, by the way! I had to squeeze a lot of things in— important things. Haha. Although it’s strange, Isla now has a weapon against the Lycan King! …Things have been going fine, but.. It’s about to get pretty messy. So… Lol… See yA!
{Isla’s POV}~ Early Morning The Next Day ~ The only reason we were leaving the Trencher village today was because my Mum was a strong and stubborn woman. I had wanted her to rest and heal for at least four days before we left for the Palace but she had told me yesterday that she was ready for us to leave today. The Lycan King had attacked her because he wanted to use her to slow down our journey and get to the Palace before us. But my Mum didn’t want to be his object for use.I knew she was healing and still in pain from the poisonous injury but she wanted us to return immediately. She was sacrificing her comfort just so we could get to the Palace on time. The Lycan King would undoubtedly get to the Palace before us but it would be better for us to get to him before he gets too comfortable. So my mum’s sacrifice was a respectable one.“I’ll miss the people.” Andrea said beside me and she sniffed.“Yeah, me too Andrea. And that is why we must leave and win this war so we can be abl
{Isla’s POV}“Do you think we’re going to win the war?” I was lying beside Cayden, resting my head on his chest, and I turned to check if he was asleep. “I believe in you, Isla.” Cayden responded just as my gaze met his. He was sleeping. He tilted his head to look at me conveniently. “With you leading us, we can achieve anything.” He smiled at me. “It feels good to hear you say that.” I said and placed my head back on his chest. “But I don’t want to be overconfident and become careless as a result. The Lycan King is a menace that we have to take the utmost caution while dealing with.”“Being confident doesn’t mean you will become careless.” Cayden disagreed. “You’re a very able Queen and you need to know this and believe it too. You are no less than that Bastard.” He said and I rose from resting on his chest to sit up.“Well, I’m not confident, Cayden.” I admitted. “If anything, I’m scared.” With my words, Cayden joined me in sitting up. It was very late at night now and most of th
{Isla’s POV}It was nighttime, but my eyes were still very quick to identify the stranger as Lucil. But you know who was even more quick?Cayden. He was already walking towards the scene of commotion when I was just realizing it, which wasn’t that surprising since she was his sister. The bulk of the warriors who were struggling to restrain Lucil were Trencher warriors so they didn’t know who she was. And the few Reignile warriors around who could identify her were limited because of her scruffy appearance. But Cayden could see through all that. He got to them and held his sister’s arm, causing her to stop struggling and look at him, and ending the commotion also. I started to rush over to them.Lucil looked so relieved to see Cayden as she immediately hugged him tightly, with a broad smile on her face. But then Cayden wasn’t smiling. Lucil pulled away from the hug and noticed Cayden wasn’t interested in hugging her. He was more interested in her looks as he was frowning and staring
{Isla’s POV}They all looked worried about me and they didn’t hide it as each of them suggested what they thought was best for me.I just laid there staring and panting until my Mum tore through the numerous dialogues. “She’s the only one that is tired. The rest of us are just fine.” She said and her words confused everyone— including me, as I wondered why she would come to such a conclusion. But then my Mum said something else, something that completely puzzled me. “She’s tired because she’s pregnant.”“WHAT?!” The words jumped out of my mouth before I could even blink. Strength immediately returned to my limbs and I pushed myself up to a standing position, my eyes on my Mum while doing so.“Mum, I’m fine. I was just exhausted but I’m fine now.” I said, looking between Cayden and her. Cayden had, on his face, an expression that matched the shock that was plastered on my face and I drove my gaze around to realize everyone was similarly blown.I was so confused. My mum wasn’t saying a
{Kayla’s POV}I panicked and then I ran…..One minute I was smiling and throwing out orders as a supreme Queen and the next minute I watched chaos erupt. It was like an explosion went off before I realized we were being attacked by the Lycans.I had Ralph beside me and hundreds of warriors at my command so I knew I was well to do. I knew I could defeat the Lycans and their wretched King. This was what I thought until I saw the Lycans and their Praised brother numbers kept increasing and noticed something completely dismaying. The Protectorates I had created in the southern and eastern Reigns for the Council Elders who had assisted me in taking the Throne from Isla— those Protectorates were compromised. I was in this sudden chaotic scene now and I was seeing Werewolves in those Protectorates I had created storming the Palace as Praised Brothers. Their numbers were mighty and I was overwhelmed by the dread that had claimed me.All around me was turmoil and chaos— it was sudden. We had
{Kayla’s POV}Just when I had abandoned all hope. Just when I had said “Hey” to my demise, I heard the one voice I never expected to hear in this moment.I heard my sister’s voice. I heard Isla’s voice.— that clear and delicate tone, except that it had sounded deeper. But then, I couldn’t believe it was her. I couldn’t rely solely on my ears to make such judgments. I couldn’t trust them enough so I opened my eyes to see that the attention in the Throne room wasn’t on me anymore. I couldn’t see Isla yet, but everyone’s gaze wasn’t on me anymore so I knew something else was happening. I was still choking in the Lycan King’s death grip with my feet still in the air but it was less tight now so I could breathe— a little. There was tense silence now.…And confusion seemed to linger in it, especially within me as I started to doubt my suspicion.Until there was movement at a far corner and I heard a voice— the same familiar voice again.“I said, let go of my sister!” Isla roared and then
{Isla's POV}.I was enraged.I didn’t know what angered me more— Kunuki exposing my plan or the Lycan King not giving a shit about it. But one thing was for sure. There was no turning back now. — sorry, two things were for sure. The ‘No turning back’ part. And the fact that I’m going to reclaim my home no matter what happens here tonight. I’m going to kill!I looked at Cayden and he looked back at me, his blue eyes stained with the fire burning in them. It felt relieving knowing that he was beside me fighting as my able support. He wasn’t in support of me facing the Lycan King but now that I was stubbornly here, I knew he would never let anything happen to me. It was a calming feeling. But then the Lycan King had his own support, his brother was here. He had introduced him to us after he told me about how Kunuki could read me like a book. So now, an equally imposing Lycan was standing beside the Lycan King. But I didn’t care. My focus was on the Lycan King— Cayden can have his brot
{Isla’s POV}.I sighed heavily when I recognized the figure that had joined the scene.I’ve never been happier to see Cayden in my entire life. There was an aggressive growl. And then there was a blow— a really hard one.I watched Cayden land his fist on the Lycan King's jaw, sending him to the rocky ground now drenched by the rain. And then I watched Cayden rush over to me, dread and worry ruling all over his face. “Isla.” He called my name frightfully and touched my hand that was on my stomach. “Are you okay? Talk to me. Did he hurt you? Did you feel pain? Do you—”“I’m fine, Cayden.” I interrupted him and forced a smile but it didn’t seem to calm him down.“Your stomach, is it—““Cayden. I’m fine.” I took my hand off my belly and allowed his own hand to rest directly on top of it. I smiled warmly at him. “I just need a minute to catch my breath and then I’ll join you in taking down that Wretch. Okay?” I said, staring at the distance where the Lycan King was getting up again.
