Chapter 3

I rushed to his study, he had just come back from a battle and I'm sure he needs to write the reports and make arrangements for a lot of things.

That's why he wasn't back to bed.

So with the pregnancy report clutched to my side, I knocked at the door.

"Antonio?" I called out as I pushed at the door and then tried the doorknob.

There was no response.

My heart plummeted as I realised he wasn't here.

I didn't want to believe he was with her, it made no sense.

Not after he'd stood by me despite all these years of searching for a child, not after all the promises he made to me, not after all my sacrifices to be with him.

No way he's with that deceitful woman.

But still, I headed to the Alpha's wing on the Eastern side of the Pack house.

It was big enough that the twins both lived upstairs and we didn't have to move out when Damian became Alpha.

Everyone praised Antonio for not being jealous of his brother and supported him in being Alpha and Damian in turn for not treating his brother like crap after becoming Alpha.

They were the perfect twins and now this tragedy happens and I suddenly don't understand anything anymore.

I had just turned to their side of the house when I saw Aliya stepping out of the room with her hand under her swollen belly.

She had on a bathrobe, something that shouldn't make my heart clench but if Antonio was there while she bathed..

No, there's a misunderstanding somewhere and I won't believe her lies.

She saw me and a smirk displayed across her face and she walked towards me, holding the rail that connected from her door to the steps.

"Oh little, dumb Cara," she mocked, "what are you doing here?"

My hand squeezed the damn report again, looking at her with unrestrained rage.

"I'm looking for Antonio. Where did he go to after putting you to bed?"

Laughter, deep and mocking poured from her throat and I stood there, fighting tears as she got through it and finally she calmed down.

"You really don't believe me? After all the pictures I sent to you? All the proofs?"

"You've always been a lying and deceptive woman who can't take it when things don't go her way. So no, I don't believe you. You're trying to get me out of the way so he'll actually make you his Luna permanently when you take me out of the picture."

She scoffed, "Wait, you really think he'll let you become Luna after me? You must be dumber than I thought!"

"It's just for two months."

"Is that what he told you?"

"Yes! Just for you to give birth and stop pretending you miss your mate so much. We both know you never loved him, you were with him just because he was chosen as the future Alpha!"

"I guess you're a little bit smart but just as you couldn't do anything about it then, you can't either now. Antonio is mine and you're better off getting away from us because I'll make him hate you."

"I won't go anywhere until I've heard from him! You're just a liar! I'm sure you drugged him and that's why he's in there, IF he's there!"

"Drugged?" She raised an eyebrow, "If you had a strong wolf, you would have felt it when he was leaving these marks on me, hm? But you're a weak, barren omega trying to have what's not hers!" She sneered.

"Marks?"

"Let me show you," she grinned and slowly took off the bathrobe as though she was putting on a show for me.

The second the robe touched the floor, my eyes widened.

I walked closer, my eyes taking in all the love marks and hickeys on her body.

But the most shocking one nestled in between her neck and her shoulder.

"He marked me, Cara. If you don't leave, he'll still abandon you one day, so what are you being stubborn for?"

"No, no," I whispered under my breath, my heart thundering and my head swarming with disbelief, "he can't do that. Antonio!"

"Oh hush, don't make so much noise, he spent a lot of energy on me you know. He needs his rest."

"You're a liar!" I screamed, my hands shaking.

She took a step closer to me and I panicked, my hand instinctively going to my stomach.

She paused, immediately noticing the act and I took my hand away immediately.

"Wait, don't tell me you're pregnant?" She asked with a raised brow.

I shook my head immediately, getting scared of this woman's desperation.

"You dare not be," she hissed, "I'm going to be his Luna and after I give birth to these children, I'll get pregnant and give him a real son!"

I pushed the paper to my back and swallowed hard.

If I didn't notice it before, it was glaringly obvious that Aliya might even kill me if I stand between her and my mate.

The glint in her eyes scared the heck out of me and I yelled at the top of my lungs.

"ANTONIO!"

Her eyes widened and immediately she pushed me hard.

I wasn't expecting it and holding the rail didn't work as gravity pulled me down the long flight of stairs.

My screams were loud as pain hit everywhere in my body until my body collided with the ground floor.

The door began opening and I was trying to get up to tell my mate everything that happened when Aliya began crying loudly.

"The babies! They're coming! Ahh!"

My cries paused in my throat as I watched in shock as he quickly put his arms around her and carried her screaming form.

He ran down the stairs, his eyes only on her, as if he couldn't smell me in his vicinity.

My stomach churned and I looked down as blood soaked the test results.

He was about to run past me when I grabbed him.

"Antonio! I'm pregnant and she –"

"This isn't the time Cara! She's in labour! Come with me or leave me alone!" He snarled, pushing away from my arms and running out of the Pack house.

Leaving me in a pool of my own blood.
