The next day, I woke up with a heavy heart, full of anger about still caring about Evan and of pain for the way he still chooses her over me. I stormed out of my chamber to his, to confront him, to let him understand how hurt I was feeling inside. I didn't think properly, I just acted out of anger and pain.

Why did I still care? I kept asking myself. Does it mean I still love him? No, that can't be...

I didn’t want to admit it. I didn’t want to accept that a part of me still longed for him.

I almost entered his room when I turned and saw four wolves gathered around, sparking a fire, with Evan in their center.

"I messed up," he said. His voice was low and quiet. "I have wronged Lila many times, and I still don't know how to make up for all my mistakes."

I froze. Evan… he knows he has been wrong. Then why does he keep on hurting me?

He ran a hand through his hair. "Last night," he continued, "she risked her life for me, but instead of appreciating her, I defended the woman who had tried

  • His Rejected Mate, His Secret Queen   Chain Break

When darkness came, it felt like Clarissa had won. Everywhere was so calm, with whispers of creeping animals. I turned and looked at Leo again, and my heart tore into pieces. I couldn't help myself, and I couldn't help him. Then suddenly, there came a sound rushing with heavy might into the cavern. Everywhere became blank and darker, and then the wolf in me began to stir .My bones began to vibrate, heat surging through my chest to the whole of my body. My whole body was literally on fire. Then the handcuffs broke into pieces and shattered everywhere.I rushed over to Leo and untied him. I was about to make a move when I saw her ,Clarissa standing right in front of me .I could tell she froze the moment she saw me.“You, how were you able to break from the cuffs? How was that possible?"I dropped Leo on a chair and came closer to her. "You underestimate my powers," I challenged her."Powers?" she snapped. "You are just a common omega, you don't deserve to have any power."She came for

  • His Rejected Mate, His Secret Queen   Luna Ceremony

It wasn't long after I left Evan in his chamber that I walked into my room when one of the maids came knocking on the door. "My lady," she said as she came in, "the council elders have summoned your presence.""The council?" I asked in shock. "What do they want from me and why such a quick notice?""I don't know," she said, "but the Luna ceremony is fast approaching and they insist on your presence, perhaps regarding who to crown as the Luna."The Luna Ceremony—I had almost forgotten. It was a ceremony where the alpha's official mate would be crowned Luna. Apparently, it was supposed to be Clarissa, because she was chosen by the alpha, Evan, but because of the blood pact and the bond, Evan would have to choose who to become his Luna.I followed her almost immediately. When I got to the meeting room, all the elders were already seated, including Clarissa—except for one person, Evan.“Lila of Lycan,” one of the elders began. “I'm sure you are aware of the upcoming Luna Ceremony, and it'

  • His Rejected Mate, His Secret Queen   Clarissa Evil Plan

Immediately after I left Evan, I went straight to the war chambers. I didn't know what I was doing, but I needed to be close to the weapons, to feel them, to get inspiration from them. I had never been there my entire life, so I had no idea how it felt. But when I got in, it felt colder and quieter than I had expected, with tiny whispers rising and falling at the same time. The walls of the chamber were decorated with past warriors and weapons lined up straight along.I stood quietly memorizing and practicing everything Mariya had taught me in the past years about weapons. But the more I tried to come up with a strategy, the harder it became."Something wasn't right," I said to myself, the way the attackers had precisioned their attack the two times they did, made me believe it had to be someone within. But who the person was what I didn't know.I was still lost in thought when I heard a quick sharp movement from the doorway. I moved towards the sound, and then I saw a slim figure dre

  • His Rejected Mate, His Secret Queen   Gate Attack

I woke up to see myself lying down on my bed. I didn't know how I got here, but I guess the guards carried me when I fainted.Immediately I woke up, I remembered the reason I had fainted. I stood up from the bed, as some of the servants urged me to stay, but I didn't listen.I was still putting on the ceremonial cloth. I tore it from my body, wore something simpler, and headed to the door.I walked past some guards who were trying to stop me from moving, but I managed to overcome their protest and ran towards the northern pack.On my way, I kept on remembering the words of one of the guards, and my heart became more restless. Each time I tried to assure myself that Mariya and Leo were alright, it was as though it made it worse.Soon, I got to the northern pack—a place not too far from the central pack but abandoned and lonely due to numerous attacks almost all the time. When I got there, there was smoke everywhere with lots of wolves and soldiers lying wounded on the floor.I started

  • His Rejected Mate, His Secret Queen   The Attack

I woke up with a loud scream, loud enough to block my ears, breathing so heavily and painting at the same time with sweat all over my body. My hands trembled and clutched the bedsheets like they were the only things keeping me from falling apart.Leo, my son, I said in my mind.I looked around the room, uncertain of what I was looking for. Then the moonlight started shining, coming in through the window.I came down from the bed and walked toward the window. Everywhere seemed calm and quiet—there was no smoke, no fog, and most importantly, no cloaked figure holding my child.I took a deep breath, realizing it was just a mere dream.A nightmare that had felt so real.My chest rose and fell rapidly as I forced myself to breathe. I touched my stomach as I was trying to reassure myself that he was still safe, still hidden far away with Mariya."Evan will never have my son, "I whispered again, but this time, because of the dream. A few hours later I heard a knock at the door."Lady Lila,"
