Liora

“What are you doing here?” I asked, staring at him, unable to hide the confusion in my voice, or on my face, given that this street was too run-down for someone like him to glance, let alone walk down it, after all, he made that clear. So yeah, I had to ask.

“What do you mean, ‘what am I doing here,’ Liora, do you…” his voice trailed off as soon as his eyes dropped to the suitcase by my feet.

Then his gaze snapped back to me. “Where are you going?” His tone changed completely. His brows furrowing,

“It’s none of your business where I’m going. Step aside, Ryan, I need to get out of here.”

My voice was calm as I tried to move past him, dragging my suitcase behind me, but his hand shot out and shoved me back roughly, like he had the right.

“Answer the damn question,” he snapped. “Where do you think you’re going with that heavy suitcase, huh?”

“What are you doing, Ryan?” My voice trembled, but I forced it steady as I asked,

“What am I doing?” he repeated, “You’re seriously asking me that? When you–” He cut himself off with his jaw tightening for what seemed like two seconds before sighing with frustration and said “Fine. Why weren’t you at the club last night?”

“That’s none of your business,” I said coldly, as I looked down at him with something close to disgust.

His hand suddenly clamped around my arm.

“You answer me when I ask you a question,” he said through gritted teeth, his grip tightening it started to hurt.

I yanked my arm back, the fury I was trying to control spilling out at once. “And why the hell should I? We’re not together anymore. So you don’t get to talk to me like that. Now get out of my way.”

“What do you mean by we're not together anymore? You broke up with me! I didn’t break up with you!”

That was it.

I shoved him, hard enough to make him stumble back a step.

“What do you want me to do, Ryan?!” I shouted. “Pretend nothing happened? Be the second woman while you play house with the girl you got pregnant?!”

He looked taken aback, but that only lasted a second as he snapped back, “Stop being unreasonable, It’s just a pregnancy! She’ll give birth and we can raise it together.”

“And how the hell does that change the fact that you cheated on me? God, I was stupid to think you’d ever change.” My voice cracked at the end, and I hated it, but I couldn’t stop now.

He reached for me again, and I stepped back.

“Don’t,” I warned. “Don’t you dare touch me.”

But surprisingly, he stopped attempting to and laughed.

Not the kind of laugh that meant something was funny. This one started low in his throat, then rose into a full, smug chuckle as he leaned against the doorway like he owned the place.

“Can you hear yourself right now?” he said, tilting his head with that irritating smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.

“You really think you can talk to me like this and just walk out? Do you even realize you're probably losing your job over this little tantrum, right? And trust me, you’re not getting it back until you come to your senses.” he says, dragging his hand through his hair before exhaling.

“Look, baby you don't have to make this hard for yourself... the thing with her? Yeah, okay. I know I shouldn’t have done it,” he said, hands raised like he was the victim here.

“But come on, how could I not? You’ve been moody as hell for weeks. Always acting all sad and depressed like Sisyphus. You barely even let me touch you.”

He took a step closer. I could smell the cologne he always wore when he thought he needed to impress, “I’m a man, Liora. You can’t expect me to go without sex just ‘cause you’re in your feelings.”

I blinked. My lips parted, but I didn’t say a word.

I just shook my head more at myself than at him. For sticking around this long.

I guess he took my silence as something else as his lips curled into a victorious smile,

The one that said you’ll come back, you always do.

So I stepped toward him.

He stood straighter, ready to accept my apology. Probably even picturing me breaking down, and begging like I always do.

Therefore, I leaned in just enough for him to think he was right.

Then I said, right in his face, “Scram.”

He blinked.

“What?”

I pushed past him, dragging my suitcase with one hand, keeping my chin up.

“You dirty bitch!” he spat behind me with rage. “Who the hell do you think you are to talk to me like that? You’re not even worth a bug under my shoe!”

My fingers tightened around the suitcase handle. Still, I didn’t turn around.

“You’ll see!” he shouted. “You think you're anything without me? My mom doesn't even like you in the first place! If it weren’t for that pretty little face, I wouldn’t have even wasted my damn time on you!”

That stopped me. Just for a second as I looked over my shoulder. He was standing there, chest heaving with fury on his face.

I stared at him. Remembering the thing with him started about a year ago. Of course, he knew about me, about Caleb, about my mom being a drunk and about the debts, and with his help I was able to get a job in one of his friends' clubhouse as a server.

I loved him, I used to. Even when he cheated several times, and every single time I was the one begging, that was until two weeks ago when I saw his message with his flings… does she even count as one? As much as I saw in that chat box, they're serious.

“If you still like yourself, better get here this instant, get on your knees and beg! Because I hope you know, no one, I mean no one will ever marry your pathetic as…” he suddenly stopped talking as his gaze went straight ahead.

I couldn't help following his gaze, only to see a black Bentley, its engine barely making a sound as it kept coming closer and finally rolled to a stop beside me.

It was only then that I turned back to look at Ryan with a smile on my lips. “You were saying?”

But he couldn't get a word out. Only keep staring as the car door clicked open. And a man in a clean black suit stepped out, calm and composed. He gave a short bow in my direction.

“Mrs. Cole,” he said, “your husband sent me to pick you up.”

  • His Reluctant Bride: Contracted To My Enemy    Hatred, overrated

Tristan I woke up earlier that morning to a call from Dante. His voice on the line was quick. I stepped out onto the balcony to answer, letting the cool air bite against my skin until the call ended. When I came back inside, she was still fast asleep.I stopped in my tracks. For a moment, I just looked at her.Her face was turned slightly toward me, framed by the loose strands of her dark hair spilling across the pillow. Those long lashes of hers brushed against her cheeks, fluttering faintly with each breath, as though she were caught in some dream she wouldn’t tell me about. Her lips were still a little swollen, reminders of last night, of the things neither of us planned, yeah, maybe she did,but not like I was able to stop it.And damn, she looked beautiful. Not the kind of beauty she wore in her stubbornness or when she tried to keep her guard up. No, this was something else. Vulnerable. Unaware. The kind of beauty that made me want to forget every reason why I should let her go.

  • His Reluctant Bride: Contracted To My Enemy    Decision

LioraAfter brushing my teeth, I washed my face in the tap quickly before stepping back into the room. Tristan was already off the bed, and thankfully clothed too, just a plain white V-neck tee and grey joggers hanging loose on his hips. Our eyes met for only a second before I looked away, pretending to fuss with my hair. The silence pressed in heavy between us, “You should eat something,” he said after a moment, his voice low but steady.I gave a short nod, hugging my arms around myself. “Yeah. Maybe.” My throat was dry, words tasting bitter. He watched me, leaning casually against the desk, but I could feel the weight of his gaze like it was pinning me in place. I hated that about him. How even when he wasn’t touching me, it felt like he was.I took a breath, forcing myself to break the stillness. “What time is it?” His brows lifted slightly. Before he walked towards his phone, tapping on the screen, “10:15am.” he glanced back at me, straightening at once. That long? I actually sl

  • His Reluctant Bride: Contracted To My Enemy    Warm, hot, heat.

LioraTristan's eyes locked onto mine as he slowly entered me, his tip teasing my entrance, making me shiver. I gasped, my body tensing in anticipation. He paused for a moment, his gaze burning with desire, before thrusting into me with a swift motion. I couldn't help but hiss out of frustration, my body not yet ready for the sudden invasion. However, my head rolled back, my neck arched, as he drove into me, his hips pounding against mine in one deep thrust. My inside spasmed, clenching tightly around him, trying to hold onto him. I felt a rush of pleasure, my body quickly responding to the sudden intensity of his thrust. Tristan's hands grasped my hips, holding me in place as he started moving slowly, drawing out and pounding into me. His fingers digging into my skin, I felt a wave of pleasure wash over me, but all I could think of was more.I tried to push against him, but he was too strong. He held me pinned against the wall like some bitch, his body dominating mine. I felt a rus

  • His Reluctant Bride: Contracted To My Enemy    Needy

LioraMother was fond of one thing after dad died. Drinking, that was no new thing. She found some odd kind of solace in it so much she'd drink all we had to eat, all we had to pay rent, even wouldn't mind starvation so far she has something to drink. And whenever she was full on it, she always goes about belching, making a mess and saying a lot of stuff.A lot of aching words, so much I usually drown them, put them behind me, deep where it wouldn't hurt because no matter how hard I tried to act as though I was unaffected by any of it. But I was. Every single damn time. Although that worked, and I really did forget most of them. But there was this one particular statement she used to say that no matter how hard I tried to put it behind me, it was always there, ringing loud in my ears and reminding me what a failure I am. And I know that was true. Because just like she always says, I'm just like her. I'm no different from her. So deciding to stay despite the fact that he doesn't h

  • His Reluctant Bride: Contracted To My Enemy    Nothing to lose

Tristan That night, I leaned on the doorway and watched her for a moment before speaking.“Are you coming down for dinner?”Liora glanced up briefly from where she sat curled up on a chair, the glow of her phone lighting her face., her expression unreadable.“Yeah,” she murmured, “I’ll be there in a bit.”I nodded and headed toward the dining room. Helen was already waiting there, She placed a bowl of fruit beside my plate with a gentle smile as soon as I settle and said,“You need more of this, sir. Good for your health.”I gave her a small smile back. “Thanks, Helen.”She nodded and walked back toward the kitchen after she was done serving. While I sat there, spoon in hand, staring at the food but not quite eating yet. But not long after,I heard footsteps. And I looked up to see it was Liora who'd just appeared from upstairs, her hair slightly messy, her expression calm but distant. She didn’t say anything as she slid into the chair opposite me.She served herself, not much, just

  • His Reluctant Bride: Contracted To My Enemy    Just one more night

LioraThat's right. It was all a mistake right from the very beginning. I realized that if I want to make things right, I have to start the fixing from where it all began. And that's with him. I dragged my luggage out of the door without glancing back and started climbing down the stairs, all the way to the sitting room. I took one more glance at the place, there isn't much to miss around here, except Helen. She deserved a goodbye at least, I was about to go to the kitchen when she came out, but her expression shifted to surprise and confusion when her gaze landed on the suitcase I have with me. “Mrs…” she tried to say but I cut her off.“It's Liora now. You won't be calling me that anymore.” I explained to her with a faint smile as I handed her the bag of medicine I was given at the hospital by the doctor, “Here, make sure he uses them. Please. I've already written how it'll be used there.” “But… Mrs Cole…” “Liora.” I reminded her with a little smile as I added, “Thank you for
