Prince Simon's POV
It was a fine morning filled with disparity as always and Athens being its normal self. This disparity arose from the fact that choices were not made by one’s self but by your parents.
Athens was just its normal mining self and I was being the boring cripple, a lie which I made all the Athenians, including my parents, believe, just to be free from the work load. Even with the fact that I have told them that I am crippled, they still dump all the paper work of Athens on my desk.
As an alpha I have one who wishes to be with me, Ginny, who I like to call Pooh. We have been together in the secret and therefore she knows the my secret.
The accident I speak about which led to my ‘crippled limbs’ happened a year ago while I was on my way to see my Pooh. At that time she was ill so I rushed to her only to get involved in a car crash. At that moment no one in Athens knew I could heal with my Alpha powers, so I told them the lie they wanted to hear: I was crippled.
Athens was also crippling financially, and there was a pack called the A****n that had finance so we needed each other. But that didn't concern me since we already had lots of gold and wolfsbane, they were just the center of economic trade.
Apart from the one who stole the auricle from my heart, Ginny, Jason my friend also knew of my facade. Jason is also gay and has been discriminated by the whole pack. His life hasn't been easy.
I was in my office in the palace doing a whole lot of paper work when Jason rushed in, and opened my mahogany door with full strength, I could even hear the rusting hinges creak.
"Simon, I just heard that your parents have plans for thee."
The words he said seemed strange, because my parents had never said anything or made any decisions behind my back.
"Plans?" I replied hesitantly."Yes, Simon. Plans." He also replied distressed.
"Plans for what? Athens?" I replied."I told them I already had it under control" I said this before he could even say anything.
And then I continued, "Tell them that I have it under control, and that they don't need to be worried."
I told him this just to get rid of him.
"Your parents want you to marry another from another pack" he quickly chipped in.
My heart beat not with fear but with shock. How can they make such a decision without consulting me first? The next thing they will say is that I must get married and refusing to go with your parents’ decision is a great sin. You will either be forced to give up your powers as an Alpha or be sent out of Athens or be killed.
"Why didn't you tell me that in the first place?"
"Well, I tried but you didn't put your tympanic membrane on the ground for the flow of news."
"Oh, shit what are we gonna do? What about my Pooh? What if the girl who is been forced on me knows my secret, then there would be work overload and I will bring shame to the family. "
There was suddenly so much tension in my mind. Lots of things ran through my head, the foremost being, why?
I went down to question my parents about it. I quickly sat in my wheel chair and drifted down stairs. There was so much anger in me that I could howl for a long time without a puncture of my lung.
I found them sitting down in the dining while discussing with an A****n. When they saw me there was an immediate look of guilt on their face that was clearer than a lucid dream. I could see that they were not happy about it. It was at that moment I began to suspect that the decision was made because of Athens’ economic state.
"Simön, are you okay son?" My mother called out to me.
"Come sit with us, Simön." My father said as he took over the conversation and continued.
"You want to eat something or......?" He continued.
My parents have always been supportive so I realized that this decision was for the purpose of Athens’ advancement.
While screeching my wheels towards the table, I was thinking of rejecting it, because I already knew what was coming for me.
"Just a glass of vinegar." I then requested.
One of the maids helped me to seat at the table, while doing that she realized that it was easier than usual and was then susafter that.
"Okay, honey, we wanted to tell you something." My mom started.
"And I know it is unlike us to take decisions into our own hands without speaking with you first." My father continued.
I acted like I didn't know what they wanted to speak about by asking:
"What is it Father?"
"You know the current situation of Athens and how we have been lacking finances even though we are one of the best packs. We still lack a lot of things in Athens and we will need lots of support, strength-wise and financially. " My father replied with a monologue.
"Oookayy?" I replied skeptically.
"And we want what’s best for you and for Athens."
"Yes, I know that, is that all?"
"No sweet heart, we also noticed that you have been struggling with your limbs and work." she said.
But then it felt like she stressed the word ‘limbs’. Was it possible that they knew and they wanted to chip it in? Had the doctor I paid to keep quiet let my cat out of the bag? Could it be Jason? No, that’s not possible.
"Uhm ... yeah?"
"So we have arranged for you to........" My mom hesitated to finish the sentence and looked to my dad for support. He gave her a nod of affirmation, which clearly meant 'go ahead'.
"To ...to .......to ...you know......uhm... get married."
They said get married but they didn’t say who they had in mind so I quickly chipped in a name to steer them in that direction.
"To Ginny?"
"No, honey" My mom said and then left the rest to my dad.
"We need more revenue for Athens." My dad continued.
"And that means selling your son to another who might not wish to be with me for the rest of the day that they shall breath?!"
"No, it means making Athens a better pack!"
My father and I bickered and bantered for a while. Then my mom left crying and sobbing, it must not have been easy to see your child argue with his father.
I noticed my mother's surreptitious act and angrily went upstairs.
All of this was happening in front of the man from A****n. I didn't even know what would have been going on in his head.
I wheeled up and got to my room only to find Ginny there. She looked so sad and sober. I knew then that she had already heard of my parents plan for me to be in the bosom of another who I didn't wish to be with.
"Ginny, are you alright?" I got up from the uncomfortable wheel chair to meet my Pooh.
"Don't touch me! It seems this will be the last time I am to see you" Ginny said.
"Pooh, what does that even mean?" I asked her with a scoff.
"It's not funny Simön, if you don't do this you will either be killed or thrown out of Athens. And as for me, I’ll be leaving you. I also heard that the Amazons are coming here tomorrow."
"No, Pooh" I turned towards her.
"I am not going to leave you for anything. I will stay with you through any weather."
She began to sob loudly as snot slid out of her nostrils. She stood up from where she was sitting, gave me a hug and kissed me.
The kiss felt like a lot, like my whole life was about to change. But I knew I had no other choice than to go down and apologize and be the submissive son that I am.
We hugged again and this time I gave her a little kiss on her buccal cavity to add a sense of humor to our eroticism.
I helped escort her down stairs, where I found my parents staring at the both of us. They knew that the decision they had just made was going to break a really strong bond between two werewolves but the economy of our pack was at stake so it seemed to them to be a lesser evil.
At the door we kissed again and said goodbye.
I closed my eyes, conjured her image in my head one last time, savoured it and allowed myself a minute to mourn my loss.
I got back, apologized and then asked for a rendezvous with the Amazonian girl. If I was going to do this then I had better get started, the earlier the better.
